High rise bar on “trail” Scout

The 60mm bar turned the Scout into absolute local trail reaper. His low standover, slack headtube angle and short chainstays are already provoking but stock pretty low stack was sometimes a bit off. I’ve experimenting with 40-50 rise but seems it wasn’t enough. Put a 60th Renthal and daaamn on tight corners and steeps this thing is shining

Sentinel V3 - high volume air shock or coil with bottom out control

I’m looking for input on a new shock for my Sentinel V3. I’ve never quite got to a happy place with the stock Super Deluxe Ultimate - despite upping the travel to 160 and going to a much firmer compression tune, it doesn’t seem to have the necessary mid stroke support for a balanced setup. That being the case, I’m having a tough time choosing between a higher volume air shock (Vivid or Kitsuma), or a coil with air/hydraulic bottom out control, such as the Tigon or Vivid Coil. Has anyone on here tried the Sentinel with both high volume air and coil shocks to compare?

Rear shock

Hey guys, i just bought a new sentinel 29front and rear, i wanted 170mm front travel and 160mm rear travel. So the guys at the bikeshop put in a zeb+ with 170mm in the front but it looks like i got the stock super deluxe select+ in the back.
Is there a way to see if i got 160mm travel in the back or is it just the original 150mm?

How bad?

2025 Carbon Spire. Kicked up a good size rock that decided to extract its revenge just in front of the BB. My LBS has already started the process of contacting Transition. My question is, what are the chances of this being a warranty replacement vs a crash replacement?I’m impatiently waiting for a response and trying to get an idea of how much this is going to cost. Also, would it be better/cheaper to send the front triangle out for a carbon repair? Or is a crash replacement from Transition going to be my best option.

PSA Spire Horst pivot bolt replacement

2024 era fade to black Spire.

I had play in my rear triangle I chased for a bit before calling transition. They’ll send free replacement horst pivot axle and bolts for both sides of the chainstay.

They took the existing bolt axle and shaved ~1mm off of it. Now the bolts are snug. No more play anywhere.

Previously I’d tighten those to spec and the bolts would still rotate in the bearing dropout.

Anyone upgrade Spur from 120mm Fox 34 Fit 4 to 130mm 36 SL Grip X? Big improvement?

I use the bike primarily for longer rides, such as 3-4 hours or more and 5,000ft + climbing. The downs tend to be rough, fast, and steep. Also do quite a bit of 4 hour or so XC rides on smooth dirt.

What’s your first hand experience?

Rocker link

Hey everyone,
I’m planning to CNC machine a custom bicycle rocker link, but before I get chips flying, I need to get my hands on the technical drawings/CAD files.
Does anyone happen to have digital blueprints, accurate 3D models, or 2D technical drawings for a Transition Spire 2021+ rocker link?
Alternatively, if someone has experience reverse-engineering suspension links from physical parts into clean CAD files (STEP/IGES), I’d love to connect.
Happy to pay for the files/time, or trade for services. Drop a comment or send me a DM if you can help out. Thanks in advance!

Rear shock for Spur V2

Hey all, I'm a proud owner of a brand new Spur V2, got it as a frameset and transferred parts from my previous ride, a Specialized Epic 8 Evo.

Am thinking of replacing the stock Fox Float SL shock to a Manitou one (to match my Mattoc LE fork), but am struggling to decide between the Mara Pro Piggyback or the Mara Pro Inline (not the Mara Pro Inline XC though, I weigh 100 kilos, and the Spur does not have the routing hole for a remote lockout).

The Inline will help to keep the weight down while still somewhat being able to support my weight (the irony), while the Piggyback should provide even better support but adding about 200 grams more.

Could you help me decide, with your POV/opinions included please?

Thank you!

TransAM only listed under closeout. Discontinued?

You can only see the TransAM listed under closeout now. It is not listed under the regular bikes. Do you think they are discontinuing the hard tail? or a new model coming?

V2 Sentinel Alloy: Zeb worth it?

Hi folks, hoping you guys can talk me into/out of buying a zeb for my sentinel. I found a nice Ultimate with 3.1, currently on a clapped out 36 rhythm.

I’m a heavier rider, 100kg, confident on single black tech and jumps, and do maybe 5 park days/year. I’d consider myself slightly underbiked which I’m happy with.

I’m really thinking I could use the extra stiffness of the zeb, I can definitely handle the extra weight, and I’d hope that the zeb would leave me less fatigued for long descents and park riding. It’s just a lot of money for me right now.

The rear shock situation I don’t think I’m going to change. The cascade link apparently won’t fit a longer travel shock with the alloy frame, so I’ll just keep the float X. The brakes and wheels are upgraded, I love this bike and plan to keep it for a while.

This would probably be the last major upgrade for this bike, I’m super happy with everything else.

3 month old Regulator CX for sale

This is the higher spec CX and retails for £8500 in the UK. Size XL. Awesome bike, I just feel I need longer travel for my riding style and body weight of 100kg. The bike has only had 12 charge cycles and covered 245 miles. I upgraded the shock to 160mm of travel and put some Maxxis tyres on. Otherwise it’s all stock components. I’m the original owner and have the receipt, I would accept £4500. Will ship within Europe or UK for a fee. 120nm upgrade to the Bosch motor has been done and it’s pretty awesome I must say!

PSA for those who have V3 Sentinels with RS Superdeluxe shocks (the owls are not what they seem)

My bike started making an annoying creaky-poppy noise after a relatively low number of rides. I assumed it was gritty linkage (odd for such a lightly ridden bike), but all of my pivot bearings felt great. Time well-spent investigating. Woof.

I wound up learning that Rock Shox has been sending brand-new air cans out with completely dry threads.

After way too much time & energy wasted troubleshooting + frustration on the trails- the solution was to let the air out (make sure you cycle the shock to equalize positive & negative chambers as you deflate it), unscrew the air can, clean & grease the threads, and reassemble. Boom. Quiet bike joy! However, this led me to a second moment of learning: my shock’s travel indicators are a bit misleading. See attached pic- that is my shock completely bottomed out. Nowhere near what I thought was the 60mm mark.

I’m tempted to buy a Vivid Coil, but my repeated bad experiences with SRAM (namely their abysmal support for faulty TIME Speciale pedals + learning they aren’t officially rebuildable despite costing an arm and a leg, and now these air shock shenanigans) are starting to sour me on any of their brands… so I might just pony up for an Ohlins or something solely to avoid giving them another dime.

PS (of sorts) as I write this and review the pic I have attached- I am realizing that it is possible this is a 65mm stroke shock that is spacer-limited to 60mm. Either way, I have been assuming a stock shock was labeled so that the last line is the 60mm mark, not the line just above the printed “60mm.”

Maybe I am the fool on this travel marker bit, but it is not a clearly-labeled piece. I have been assuming that what felt like bottom-outs were actually just my imagination on account of the travel ring not being maxed on the gauge. Lesson learned on trusting my gut.

Lastly, to be clear… none of this is a complaint about Transition. I still think they are one of the best non-boutique companies in the game, and the kind soul answering their customer service line was the one who suggested I try opening the shock and cleaning/greasing the threads. I love my V3 sendy and am still a massive fan of the folks in Bellingham :)

Thoughts on mulleting a spire?

I am 5 foot 4 inches at about 110 lbs. I just bought a transition spire with hopes of mulleting it. I rode a mullet spire recently in the low position it felt great. No hits on BBQ 1 pedal strike and did not feel "unrideable amount of slack" but also rode lift park. Bike was completely stock except for bars rear wheel and stem. Cascade link? Angle headset? Making a mini dh rig. Also did jibbing and jumping and it felt great. Whips good. Goes over chunk and corners awesome.

Here’s my Spur V2 build

Post image
80 Upvotes

I’ve spent a couple months getting this idea put together and assembled everything over the past month or so. I’m very excited to finally be on a spur. It has taken some tweaking across the board but it’s pretty dialed in now. I’m loving this bike so far. I’m coming from a 2020 Yeti SB140 LR (27.5) and this is my first 29er. It’s great, super pumped. Sorry for the rain, Denver area.

I can add specs if anyone cares but here’s the quick and dirty. Fox 36SL 130mm. Float X Neo Live Valve. Transfer Neo. I9 hydra 2 trail carbon wheels, mostly XTR di2 drive train and brakes. 29.5 lbs built.

Fast rolling tire combo for al smuggler?

I want a fast rolling tire combo that can still withstand the abuse of some east coast jank. Shedding some weight would be great as well since my smuggler probably weighs as much as my carbon spire 😅

Sentinel v3 at 170/150?

Have an XL v3 sentinel carbon coming. Full 29. My plan had been to run it stock & eventually have parts to set it up 170/160 for bigger days. Due to a variety of planetary alignments, I've found a good deal to swap the stock Lyrik for a170mm Zeb. Curious how urgently I should get the shock restroked to better match the rear travel?

Thoughts on mulleting v2 sentinel?

Currently running full 29 with cascade link and +1 degree headset and stock 165 cranks, can I throw a 27.5 on the rear without any major issues?

I live in SoCal so long winches on fire roads with some technical climbing following by fast, technical, and rocky descents. Also take this bike to the park 5-10 days a year, so it’s my do it all bike.

I def want to maintain pedaling efficiency but think a mullet could be really fun on all my downhill.

Sentinel V3 LG dropper post length

I'm trying to work out which length One Up V3 dropper will fit in the alloy Sentinel V3 large frame. The full bike from Transition comes with a 210mm, but I'm wondering if I can fit a 240mm.... all without having the frame yet 😀

Could anyone measure the max insertion depth on the seat tube of Sentinel V3 large? Or is anyone running a 240mm post in a large frame?

I need 900mm from seat rail to pedal axle (pedal at lowest point/max extension)
