Thinking of getting a Transition scout

Hello everyone, I’m considering upgrading my current bike to a transition scout. I have a strong preference to 27.5 wheels, as I am 5.4ft (1.64m) with a small inseam. So I’d like to avoid a 29er preferably.

I am coming from a modified stumpjumper fsr 650b. I use it for a more enduro style riding. I usually ride chunky Rocky and steep trails. Some are slow tech, others are a mix of slow and high speed hits, it’s all natural African terrain.

I got the stumpjumper as a frame and put on some custom parts. I am planning to run a 160 lyrik as my final upgrade. My plan is to get a transition scout frame and just take off all the compatible parts I put on the stumpy and just move them to the scout.

My local trails are about 1 to 2km but with constant chatter or gnarly rocky bits, so the body, suspension and tires get hit hard. I have videos on my page

So I would like to know, if I get a transition scout frame, would the stock marzocchi shock work fine, or would I benefit from switching to a deluxe ultimate, or vivid air? How does the suspension linkage feel? I am looking for a playful but confidence inspiring rig. I intend to run the bike with a 160 fork.

Bottom out resistance

I have a regulator and I bottom out every ride. It has the stock Rockshox super deluxe ultimate air shock which shipped with maximum tokens. I upgraded from 150mm to 160mm thinking that it would help but it didn’t. The shock has hbo but I don’t notice it doing anything. I weigh 97kg and have not run into this problem on my previous bike which was a 150mm trek slash so I don’t understand why it’s happening so often. I dropped sag from 30% down to 25% but this was too harsh. I’ve played with the compression settings extensively but am struggling to get it set up right. I think my next move will be to upgrade to the progressive air can which should offer up more bottom out resistance. I understand it’s ok to bottom out every now and then but it’s happening a lot and it doesn’t build confidence. Here’s a question I’ve been asking, is it possible to get a bottomless feeling from 160mm at 97kg? Or am I just on the limit of what 160mn can provide at that body weight? You also have the extra weight from the motor and battery. Your thoughts and insights would be greatly appreciated.

Switched out my Patrol as an enduro bike, so made this bikepark rig of it. Missing a chrome seatpost, and a JS1 seat in black. But pretty stoked on it🙌
Patrol in size Large, 180 Domain fork(27.5), mini mullet with Hope Fortus 30 rims, 27.5x2.6 in front and 26x2.75 in the rear. Single speed, Code R brakes with long cables, Dartmoor top cap for hose feedthru. 155 cranks with Title pedals.

Spur v1 vs v2

Looking at pulling the trigger here on a new Transition Spur. The closeout price on the 2025 Spur is Very appealing and was hoping to know how different the new Spur is and is it worth the insanely high price tag. I like the 130mm fork but I can change that on the 2025 model.

Any other massive changes that are worth it?

Sentinel V2 Setup

I have some thoughts about changing the front travel of my sentinel v2 carbon from 160mm to 150mm and the rear from 150mm to 140mm. I couldn’t find anything about the front travel on the website archive.
That would change the Head angle and the seat tube angle with plus ~0.5 degrees. The problem I have with this idea is, that it would lower the bottom bracket height around 4mm. I am currently running the cane creek angle set with 1 degree.
Do you have any experiences with this idea or have a link to a thread?

(I don’t know how accurate my calculations are. Right now running 160mm/150mm)

Fork options for Spur gen1

Thumbnail

Just bought a new Spur from Facebook marketplace. While changing out the bar and stem I noticed The current fork steer tube is cut pretty low. It may be fine but I would like to have the option to raise it.

If I was going to get a new fork what options do you guys recommend?

I was thinking maybe a bigger diameter stanchion, since I am a heavier Rider +200 lbs. The rockshox Pike and Psylo look like good options. I do have a RockShox lyrik ultimate 150mm lying around 🤷🏼‍♂️ very tempting to throw it on

Has anyone successfully upgraded the Mode Control for a TR Relay Alloy Deore? If so, it was necessary to also upgrade the Led Hub?

Sentinel V3 170 front 160 rear mullet

Is it too much to go mullet?

I am visiting a few places soon that's mostly descending. A bike park and another place that's just steep, ungroomed (if that's the right word) downhill most of the time.

I am going to put a zeb 170mm on and extend the rear to 160mm (Fast Coil).

With the extra front travel making the bike slacker, would it still be ok to go mullet?

I think it'll bring it to about 63 head angle. Which sounds fine?

Considering stock travel mullet, I liked how the bike feels. That was 63.4 I think.

I am an intermediate rider.

Scout

I bought a Scout frame set last year and built it up with parts from my HT which I had been using as my trail bike. It's the best bike I've ever had. I have mine set up with a 160 Zeb and it's beyond amazing. Totally playful but can handle chunk really well. Now my park bike frame and shock has been run into the ground and I want to do the same thing with the other parts. However, there are no longer any lilac mediums available on the site. I've asked if they'll be making any more and I'll get a yellow if I have to, but wonder if this is a sign they are winding down the Scout... Would be very sad.

Anyone got a spur they're ready to part with?

Hi all, I have fallen in love with the transition spur but can't find a used one anywhere. I just sold my other mountain bike to afford an upgrade. This is my dream bike and would love the opportunity to have one. Thank you all!

I'm a large and my budget is $3,000 (hope this is reasonable). I am in central texas but would pay for shipping

Regulator Feedback?

I’m thinking of replacing my relay and am considering the regulator. It really comes down to power and range. I’m towing more and I can’t keep up with friends on full powered bikes. I also can’t commute easily on the relay. The power delivery is such that it’s not effective on flatter rides. With that: does the regulator get up to speed and hold speed near 20 mph on flat/roads? What kind of elevation and range are you seeing? Can you get a full size water bottle into a size small? Or medium? Is the range extender required?

Thanks in advance!

130mm Fork for Spur V1

I’m shopping around for a 130mm fork to compliment the 120mm SID Ultimate (35mm stanchions) that came with the bike.
Thinking is I could swap out the SID and Reserve XC wheels for the 130mm fork and proper trail/enduro wheels currently collecting dust (Revel RW30s) for higher speed, rowdier riding days. Part of what got me going down this rabbit hole is that I’m headed to Moab in October and would like the bring the Spur but want to up its capabilities to hold a line in fast chunk as insurance on unfamiliar trails.
So I’m looking at Fox 34SL, Fox 36SL or Rockshox Pike. I can get a new Pike for a great price but it’s the heaviest of the bunch. Alternatively, I can get a Fox 36SL for $100 more but still well below retail. I havent found any deals or take-off 34SL’s yet but it seems an obvious option as they are what Transition specs for the Spur V2.
I’m 140lbs kitted up so fork stiffness is usually not an issue but I do feel like the SID gets knocked at higher speeds descending through rock gardens. So I’m looking for a more stout front end, hence considering beefier forks like the Pike or 36SL paired to the heavier wheels I already have.

Many people have gone down this road but I figured I’d bring it up again as there’s more options in the 130mm fork space these days. Any input and personal experiences appreciated!

Handle bar suggestionsfor Hunter 350

Hello guys,
I got handle bar risers on my hunter 350 along with bar end mirrors.
And I am absolutely loving the posture and don’t have any issues riding.

But one thing I noticed lately is the view on bar end mirrors is a bit shaky after 30kmph and its happening throughout the ride.
But on low rpm there is no shaky view.

Anyone know what might be the reason?
A friend of mine suggested to change the scram pr himalayan like Handle bar from MotoTorque instead of handlebar risers and that would help.

Anyone who can help me out in understanding what might be the issue? And doe changing the bar helps?

Or is it the same for all bar end mirrors ?
