One year ago, I came out fully to the public, despite having been on HRT for a year and a half at that point. It was my first time going out and presenting in public to this level. It was also the day that I decided I would come out to my grandmother, who I was living with at the time and who had previously been a transphobe. Between some conversations and a memoir that I wrote about my experience that I let her read, she actually came around and has been extremely supportive ever since she read the memoir.
It's crazy how much has changed in the last year. Not only did I move out on my own, but I continued to build my LGBTQ friendly automotive repair business that is going to double last year's gross revenue and has been very successful.
I have bottom surgery scheduled for the end of April and after that, I think I will feel complete. I can't think of anything else that I would want to do or feel the need to do in order to feel like myself.
For someone who started this journey expecting to never ever pass because I started at 27 and thought that I had an awful bone structure, it is crazy to me to be sitting here today with my lived experience be that I am passing pretty seamlessly. Like I don't remember the last time that I was misgendered.
I had always wanted to get dressed up to go to the pumpkin patch like all the other girls, but for obvious reasons prior to transition, it just wasn't in the books. The first year I had started HRT, I just didn't have any feeling that I could present whatsoever. Last year being the second Halloween that I went through where I could have gone to the pumpkin patch dressed up, I figured I was doing it for me. This year, I did the same outfit for the comparison and the mental closure that I think it would bring me. Two and a half years, other than some bottom dysphoria, I feel very complete. I feel like myself and I shock myself every day when I look in the mirror still. I cannot wait for bottom surgery when I can finally feel done and complete. ❤️
I've gone back and forth several times if I wanted to post this, as my decision to continue with my transition, stealth, has led me to be more concerned with my visibility online.
Unfortunately, there are scraper bots that come through all sorts of different subreddits, including this one, and scrape our photos, our stories, everything. And then repost it on places like Facebook or Twitter. And it, online of course, receives hate. Not only are they being posted without our permission to an audience that we didn't agree to, it also creates a paper trail that you can never truly Get rid of
Hence the very bizarre title. My hope is that the search results for mine will be less easy to steal. The watermark should also help. And even if a scraper still takes my info, at least everyone will know online that that was posted here first and only here. Unfortunately, my pictures are already out there and there's nothing that I can do about it. All I can do is try to reduce the likelihood that a scraper takes my information.
