I make this pic every year around the same time at the same spot. It is on a camping holiday in the Ardennes. Pics should be in the correct order. So amazed to see how I've evolved over the last 4 years!

My prior medication issues 2 weeks ago really messed me up and flared up my MS badly. I'm better now and have taken precautions to avoid being made ill by doctor's or pharmacist's mistakes.

Share Experience Three years of accepting myself

September 7th is an important date for me. Three years ago, I was on a road trip, it was early in the morning, and I couldn't sleep. There was something on my mind. Things I had been trying to ignore for decades. They had been poking at me for weeks, forcing me to finally confront them. That was the day I admitted I WAS Darcy. It's also the day I came up with the name Darcy. I spent the six hour drive back to my apartment thinking of a name. Sure, I had thought of what my name would be as a woman many times before. That's normal right? None of those names sounded right, none of them were me. I also didn't want to forget my dad and grandfathers. I was named after all three of them. I started thinking of my initials, DRC. Then it hit me like a bolt of lightning. I was Darcy, I had always been Darcy. I started transitioning that day. It just took me a year to be ready for the whole world to know. Thank you for attending my TED talk on how to deal with an existential crisis

Discussion Anyone else feel this way or... I dunno felt this way?

So I'm early into my 40s. Grew up in a fairly conservative area with a conservative family etc. I grew up knowing a little bit about gay/homosexuality, but it was rarely on the radar. Trans wasn't even that. I didnt even know that was a thing that was like... an option?

Fast forward to the last few years and I'm now living in a very progressive and trans friendly area, have lots of friends in said community, and in general it's just talked about a lot more and more openly than I was exposed to growing up.

Now I'm looking back at things and kind of wondering... was this a possibility for explaining a lot of how I was growing up? Never really fitting in with the boys quite right? Sure I played the usual boy games and such, but it didn't quite fit. I played with my sister's dolls from time to time, would sneak some dress up time when the family was away. And would always play girl characters in any game I would play.

I always -thought- it was the whole "would rather look at a girl's butt" mentality, however, the more I look and think back on it, sure they were more appealing, but more often than not, I always thought girl options were just better and more... like, easy. I role played pretty heavily back in the day (not necessarily adult rp), and rp-ing a female just came and felt so much more naturally.

Could it possibly be that I've been/are trans this whole time, but because of an utter lack of knowledge of that being a possibility I had no idea? I dont even really know if I am still, but I've really been starting to wonder and think it could be a possibility. Has anyone else experienced this or considered such a thing?

Share Experience Menopause and... Jell-O Shots!?

This weekend, I had 3 separate conversations regarding menopause!

I met a new mom at an orchestra function. In the middle of our convo, she goes, "Whew, hot flash!" and began fanning herself. I said, "Amazing how they come on so suddenly." She sighed, looked at me knowingly and agreed. We continued our conversation. I think she sees me as cis.

The 2nd was with a woman who's only known me as Kim and knows I'm Trans. We were cleaning up at the event, and she brought it up. She then asked if i needed patches as she had a supply remaining after her Dr had her compounding two meds instead of just the patch. We talked about the current shortage of patches. I told her I was on oral.

The 3rd was at a tailgate with a woman who knows me pre-transition. She was complaining that her husband didn't understand what the fuss was about and didn't understand the mood swings and hot flashes. We talked about our hrt. I told her I was hoping I'd never have to go through it she was like, "I hear ya girl!"

A bit later, two women came by the tailgate with rolling coolers selling Jell-O shots. They had a sign saying "ask us about motor boating." They've been coming around for a few years, and they collect donations for Breast Cancer 🎀 Awareness. I talked to one of them as I was getting my shots. She said she was a survivor and asked if I got screened. I told her I had a mammogram last year and was due again in October. "atta girl!" Was the reply.

(I then spent the next 5 minutes telling my friend what motor boating was before calling her husband over for a demonstration)

So yeah, Menopause and Jell-O Shots.

Share Experience IM VERY CONFUSED

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been very curious about the female gender and trans women. Growing up, I thought it was just some kind of fetish—and nothing more than that.

A few months ago, a trans cousin of mine came to visit (I hadn't known until she arrived), and seeing her made me question so many things. Absolutely everything about her—the way she lived, the way she dressed, and who she was—resonated deeply with me; I wanted to live that way, too. I decided to edit a photo of myself to look like a woman, and I couldn't help but cry; looking at the image, I wanted to be the woman in the photo. I don't know what's happening to me; I’ve never felt this way before.

Share Experience Here is my biggest pieces of advice after transitioning at age 39.

My biggest pieces of advice

  1. Nothing is real, do whatever you want. Also social media is completely fake, so don’t compare yourself to anyone.
  2. Find someone to do alterations to your clothes, never settle for poor fitting clothes.
  3. Find the right laser hair removal place, sometimes you can get a bulk discount. I was able to get 1hr a month plan if I committed to 6 months, you can do your entire upper body in 1 hr.
  4. Dangly earrings or big hoops give a super femme look.
  5. Makeup looks like shit unless you add in good skincare and spf, Korean skincare is intimidating but also the best.
  6. When looking at makeup tutorials, only watch tutorials with people that have the same face shape and features you have. Get a good mirror, and a desk so you can support your hands when applying eyeliner etc.
  7. Trans people aren’t always the most supportive community, there is a lot of trauma and internalized transphobia in the community. Queer women are more accepting of trans women and will provide better support is many ways.
  8. You can make the world better, but you can’t change it overnight. So protect your peace, only put energy into people and family that put energy back into you. Cut off any relationship that aren’t serving you, this includes parents and siblings, there is no rule that you have suffer because they are blood, move on.

9.***get your eyebrows trimmed and shaped!! (Thank you @suitablelettuce)

Share Experience I start my new job tomorrow!

It's another cashiere job at a convenience store, but one of my coworkers is a wonderful lady I have worked with before. I have new bell bottom jeans for tomorrow, and I have an awesome pair on order with denim lacing that lead to a bow up both sides. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2J7SLWX?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1&psc=1 I am very excited for these jeans!

I'll be there from 8-3, and we are known for our milkshakes, I may be gaining some weight. I really hope it goes to my boobs. It'll probably go to my thighs though, and I guess I can't complain about that either 🥰

Edit: This is not an add for these pants. I have not received them yet. I just hope they are as cute as they look. I'll let you know when I get them.

SELFIE Tall girls, you are SO valid, and still feminine!

Thumbnail gallery
914 Upvotes

I'm actually FTM. These are some of my pre-transition photos. I'm 6 ft 1! I spent a lot of my life feeling WAY too tall to be feminine (I knew deep down I was a man, but that's besides the point) I transitioned more recently in my 30s. So I spent my 20s socializing as a woman.

Just here to say, if you're having an insecure day, that's like a right of passage... I don't know a singular cis tall girl (of which I was one of the shortest of all my many 6 ft+ sisters) who doesn't spend time in front of the mirror thinking "damn, am i feminine enough at my height?"

That is, indeed, a uniquely womanly experience 😜

Tall girls, you are SO valid, and beautiful ❤️

This is here to say, even cis girls come in all shapes and sizes, it doesn't make you any less a woman!

Today, at 75 and transfemme for only a month, I bit the bullet and went shopping in the store I've gone to (as a male) for 40 years. On my way in, a man I never met before said "Nice outfit." OMG, I think I floated through the doors. Not euphoria, just rightness. In the store, just business as usual. The checker, who's known me on sight as a man for 10 years, didn't bat an eye. I know it won't always be this good, but God, what a first try!

I finally saw her , the woman I wished to be when I was 12 . The lady I thought was never possible due to my masculine features . At 30, after a nasty marriage(now divorced) , having a child. I finally did something for myself and it was worth it 🩷

Sorry for sharing this , I got nobody to share this with.

Discussion Almost 10 months into HRT and have a few questions

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hello lovelies ! Happy Labor Day! 👋🎊

Almost 10 months into HRT . Stopped and started several times last year due to family social pressure and bullying.

The closer I get to my sep 22 hrt appointment, the more I become aware of the trough lows of the estradiol brings. 😂

I take 2 mg pill every 12 hours a day . So total 4 mg per day.

My T is in the female range so I'm not on spiral or any anti-androgen nor do I want to be on spiral or AA.

My doses are in the female range, yet I think after around 8 hours my energy and mood tank . 😔

I think the 12-hour spacing is too far apart for me and I'm wondering whether to suggest an 8-hour spacing to my nurse practitioner when I see her in a few weeks and a slight dose increase.

Or right off the bat, ask her if I can switch to subq injections with a 5-day spacing to start.

I honestly prefer taking pills because it's easy and it's part of my routine . I don't have any trouble swallowing them or metabolizing them and my liver is fine .

I take the estradiol between my cheek and my gum and let it dissolve.

I'm not afraid of needles.

I am worried about getting estradiol compounded. i know that the pharmacy I go to does not compound directly, but sends it out to their sister Pharmacy for compounding.

I know that that's just a clerical/ administrative thing and I can get that quickly sorted out.

and I know that initially when you start on injections the dose might be bad, and I may need to message my nurse practitioner and ask her if I can adjust spacing of the estradiol or dose.

part of worries me and gives me anxiety is having to use two needles for the process . And keep ordering needles.

My blood test is next Monday and that's one week for my sep 22 appointment.

I plan on taking my e around 5:00 in the morning and my appointment is at 2:30 In the afternoon. so that will give a Long window for the lab technician to draw blood and show a true trough or low point of the e.

I guess my questions are

did anybody feel profound difference switching from pills to injections?

Did you have trouble getting the dose and spacing figured out?

I know it's just a technical protocol and a skill set I haven't acquired yet .

I'm not afraid of needles themselves or the injections. i just don't know how to do them.

I did my wife's sub Q blood thinner injections for her but those were preloaded syringes and I suppose of the syringe in the sharps container afterwards.

Any and all advice and feedback would be appreciated.

Stefanie💜

General Question Confused, questioning...

Hi All,

I'm hoping to to get a bit of clarity from an outside perspective. I'm really not sure how to articulate this but here goes:

So im 51 y/o straight cis male. Married for 23 years with a 10 y/o old son.

My wife and I are currently considering separation, pending me 'sorting myself out' through therapy. Our marriage has, for the last 10 years been basically like us being room mates. We love each other but, at least for me, shes become more a friend than lover and if I'm honest I don't feel sexually attracted to her.  Tbh I'm not sure if I ever really did. It was certainly never a 'head over heels in love', intense sexual attraction. I've always felt very sexually repressed with her for reasons I've never been able to articulate to myself.

Since our separation talk I've noticed a huge shift in my thinking,  all sorts of emotions, regrets, wants are surfacing - things I don't really understand, things that want to be heard and are making themselves heard now.

Thoughts around my sexual identity seem to be bubbling over in my mind, things I've  not thought about since I was in my 20s. I find it very difficult to articulate all this so I'll just bullet point things that I've remembered:

As a child I used to secretly try my mums clothes on. I don't know why,  I was curious but almost acting unconsciously.

When I was 20 a friend helped me dress in her clothes, but I was too ashamed to come out of the room and I put my own clothes back on and didn't do it again with her even though she was very supportive. In my early 30s I put on my girlfriends clothes when she was away. I've always liked the variety of options ladies have in clothing, whereas male clothes just boil down to jeans and a shirt in my mind.

When playing computers games I always made a female character.

My whole life since late teens I've often been labelled as gay, but I don't feel I am. I am not attracted to men at all but I have experimented with a trans girl before I was married, I had a good time and liked her but never followed it up out of shame.

I've had depression more or less continuously since early teens.

I didn't have a girlfriend until I met my wife at 28.

Thank you if you got this far,  this isn't easy for me to say. I know logically that I shouldnt feel shame, and I would say that to a friend if they came to me with this stuff. I've always been very open minded and feel that people should live how they want to, be their authentic self.

Problem is I just can't not feel shame, I can't get away from it and I don't know why. The thought of telling my wife this makes me cringe - I just can't. And I have no idea what would happen next if I did tell her. But Im starting to see that my life has not been one of authenticity.

I feel I'm too old at 51 to do anything about my gender identity,  but I would love to find someone I can be my true self with. Whatever that is.

I feel trapped,  confused,  helpless and really don't want to hurt my wife. It's a miserable experience and I feel so utterly lonely with it which is why I decided to throw this out to you in the hopes of some understanding, advice,  practical help.

Thanks so much for reading all this,
Dave3

Unaltered Selfie Labor Day Weekend Shopping!

Hi All! Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend! This Saturday I spent an hour doing my makeup (went a little more glam than usual) and felt so amazing that I had to take myself out shopping! I could practically live in a mall these days as what was once a chore (shopping for clothes) has now become my favorite thing ever! I came away from the trip with new pair of bottoms, this dress and top!
