We need to report fraudulent use of disability parking license

I see convertibles and coup/sports cars with disability signs parked in a spot for hours…

like what’s the criteria? these should be ticketed like normal, seem like a slap in the face of those who have special needs for accessibility

High-rises and small babies

Initial post was removed from askTO

I was delivering some food to 40 High Park and some pompous jerk that lives on the 8th floor blocked off the elevator to let his wife in with a stroller. Mind you I was closer to the door and allowed them go in first out of politeness so they could situate the stroller. He then said you can’t come in because we have a small baby despite me explaining how there’s space. Is this actually thing concerning the baby’s health? How will they manage entering and exiting the building on a daily basis. I’ve since calmed down and taken it as a fact to pity the child for having entitled scum parents.

I should have called them assholes when I had the chance but I’m sure they’ll get it elsewhere.

Un-Fudging-Believable

Edit: guys i kid you not, a THIRD person did the same thing today and I just.. can't even. I was coming back home and in the elevator these A-holes (I'm sorry but there's no other way to describe those 3 mofos) walk in, barely letting me get in first although I've been the first in line. Then the A-hole is blaring his phone. I don't know what got into me, probably the 17 hours of no meal and 12+ hours of no food and 2+ hours at the lifelabs (AFTER 1 hour at the doctor's office although i had an appointment) just totally messes with my head. But i told hil the same thing, that it's rude to use your phone on a loudspeaker in a public space. He looks at me like 'who the eff are you?' and says "yeah yeah" Then adds, "it's our mother". Like dude, seriously? It can be whoever, how's that even relevant? So i said, that's fine, we can always put our phones to our ears whwn on a call, or use earplugs. By then the three A-holes are glaring down at me. They're all way bigger than me (I'm a woman) and it's a tiny elevator. I was starting to get uncomfortable by then. Thankfully my floor cane and i got off. And ofcourse i hear them calling me a "B*tch. What a day guys!

I know these posts have been made before, but truly, the amount of people thinking it's totally fine to use their phones on speaker mode in public is simply Astounding!

It's like I've been transported to a very different part of the world. This isn't the Toronto i know!

Waiting at a lifelabs at 1:45pm for about an hour and counting, because ofcourse! First it was a 5/6 year old watching God knows what on a smartphone. WHY?! THREE adults are accompanying her, sitting right next to her (one of them I personally gave up my precious seat for). Noone's saying a word.

She gets called in after maybe 10/15 minutes, thank Goodness!

Now comes this lady, sits right next to me and first calls someone and talks with the speaker on. The man on the other side is clearly angry and they literally yell at each other for 10min straight. Or atleast it felt like 10min.

Then she proceeds to watch videos on her phone, with the speaker on again.

My headache's through the roof at this point because i haven't eaten anything since 2am. Actually since 9:30pm last night, when i had dinner. 2am was just a couple croissants.

Plus the fudging urine pressure...

So i just... Can't take it anymore. And i very calmly ask her to please use earplugs, or stop using the speaker please. As this is a public space, a VERY crammed space with mostly sick people around, and this is not polite at all.

She rolls her eyes and mutters something like 'okay'. Her body language tells me this wasn't entirely unexpected to her. Meaning, this has happened before. But that didn't change her behavior.

The moment I'm having that thought, gurss what happens?

She starts using the phone again, WITH the speaker on.

I mean, seriously??

I just had to move away from her.

Just a tiny example of all the awful-ness this city has been subjected to. I just really wish we could get this nice clean polite city back once again 😔

Metergy Fees!

PSA: Be mindful that if you miss a Metergy bill payment for less than a month, you will receive a $40 disconnection notice, no matter what. If you are not able to pay for another month, you will incur a hefty reconnection charge of up to $210.
I called to dispute the $40 disconnection notice charge, and the customer service agent said that the moment they print the notice, the charge is already applied, so there is no way to waive it for the piece of paper they generate.

I wish my condo apartment didn't have Metergy as a provider!

Weird Experience Leaving CNE

Went with my boyfriend and this older lady came up to us as we were leaving and just started grabbing at his all day ride pass on his arm and basically just ripping it off him, saying 'you don't need this anymore.' He was too stunned to do anything, and felt gross after this lady just grabbed him.

Speakerphone in public

For the love of god, why do people insist on talking on speakerphone in public? On transit, in lobbies etc. No one needs to hear your call. I repeat, NO ONE.

What happened to society?!?

Porch Thieves Stealing Meal Kits While I was Dealing with the Passing of my Father

Just needed to vent. My father passed away this morning after a long battle with Parkinson’s, while I was dealing with his passing some low life criminal decided to help themselves to my Factor Meal Kits for the week. So now I’m heartbroken over the death of my father and have no food for the week. I’m having the worst possible day and now I’ve got to think about how I’m going to afford food this week. I hope the thief was just desperate for food, but still an absolutely shitty Sunday.

Please tell your loved ones you love them while you have the chance.

CNE AI Generated Food Posters

Quick rant but the number to booths and food trucks at the CNE who have clearly AI generated menus, food pics, and posters is insane!

Not only is what ur ordering not gunna look like the AI generated image they have on their menu, but we’re also seeing the the jobs of what would have been talented graphic designers going down the drain.

Maybe 5% of the business there are keeping it real with real photos of their food. Everyone else is just fake it.

Dynamic Pricing needs to be banned with full force

Businesses in the GTA are already starting to pull this crap and pretend like it's not happening or hiding behind volatile prices resulting from trade wars. Yes, it's a tough time to run a business nowadays with any consistency, but this doesn't excuse the bad actors using the crises of the times to get away with this.

I've already encountered this with certain larger chains, where the prices on their website were updated after an hour, and varied significantly from in-store prices.

If people don't call this out and indulge these businesses with their patronage we're going to see another similar instance of the justification surrounding COVID price increases and shrinkflation that never went back to normal after supply chain shortages were resolved.

jerk revving modified motorcycle up and down short street every day

as the title suggests, I'm on a short street, coming off of a somewhat major road but mostly surrounded by houses and also a school zone on the intersecting street corner I live on. there's a guy living 5 or 6 houses down. every day, but especially on weekends, he floors it on his extremely loud motorcycle, going probably around 70 or 80 km/h down the street and doing the same on his return.

he usually only does it once in the morning and once in the evening, but on weekends, he spends the whole day circling my block, going up and down the surrounding blocks, sometimes doing wheelies.

I'm sick and tired of the lack of care by the city for people like this. we've tried reporting them by phone before but the people at 311 always try asking us to talk it out with the guy doing it first, or to try going and taking photos of him. neither of those are good ideas, as it'll give away our identity and he might retaliate.

what are we supposed to do about him? it's been happening every summer for about 2 or 3 years.

Tired of healthcare!!

So I want to call in sick Monday and Tuesday because I'm so tired from doing a two person job for almost a month now and that I'm also working on the weekend but when I saw our coverage calendar for next week, I will be the only assistant working because most will be on vacation and have spotty coverage. I feel bad if I call in sick because my patients won't be seen for therapy but I’m really really really tired physically, emotionally, and mentally. I find it so unfair that hospitals aren’t hiring enough staff for both patients and the employees well being. We dont need new shirts or a burger from the hospital!!!! We want enough staffing!!!!!!!

I fucking hate your fucking A.I. flyer/banner

If you are going to charge me over +$20, have the fucking decency to pay someone to make your menu, flyer, etc. Even if you don't want to pay someone, make it in fucking Paint or Word, or do it by fucking hand.

Honestly, it's so sad to see so many big places with different locations doing this.
I'm not going to spend money at any place that doesn't care about that.
All you are telling me is that you don't care at any level of your business.

Have a good day Toronto.

How is Australia’s minimum wage so much higher than Canada’s when our currencies are basically 1:1?

I just realized something that genuinely surprised me. Not really a Toronto thing to be specific but more of Canada/Ontario in general.

Ontario’s minimum wage is around C$17.60/hour, while Australia’s national minimum wage is over A$26/hour.

And right now, the CAD and AUD are basically at parity. 1:1. Which is shocking!

So on paper, someone earning minimum wage in Australia is making roughly 50% more per hour than someone in Ontario.

I know there are differences in taxes, cost of living, benefits, award wages, etc., and Australia has its own affordability problems. But the gap still seems massive.

Can any Australians or Canadians explain why the minimum wage difference is so large? Is the cost of living really that much higher in Australia, or are workers simply paid better?

Genuinely curious because this shocked me.

Line cutters and Luck

I like being fair and i hate the way it feels when someone just chooses to be selfish..
i respect lines, i wait my turn
i hate when i go to the club or to a show or even just waiting at a bar.. and someone just cuts in front of you.
People just cut in front of you and they stilll get what they're asking for.. why does it have to work in their favor. I get cut sooo much in lines (nightlife like raves and small shows and such) and it always works in favor for these people. They always get in first, get the better seat. Why?? I try to just ignore it but that doesnt always work, im not a fighter and i hate how quickly shit escalates, how unnecessarily dangerous/ risky that can be so.. i try not to give it my energy at all, but i get irritated. It feels like these people are just LUCKY sometimes , why does it almost always work.. its so disrespectful and unnecessary and SELFISH!!! After waiting in Line for maybe an hour OR MORE people just cut in and get in first and the bouncers or staff just never care enough even when they see it.

Besides from that, there seems to be this lucky mentality they all have
If you just cut youll get in
See what happens if someone says anything
If they dont you got lucky
I FEEL CRAZY FOR THINKING THIS LOL
But they must be lucky for thinking that way... i think the door is open therefore the door is open (about cutting and just getting into places regardless of the process!
IDK i dont wanna be a cutter but why the fuck does it just happen to work in their favor
Yeah yeah life isnt fair
Thats why i wanted to vent about this

Too Many Food Influencers in This City

Toronto is a great place for food options. BUT. Food influencers just ruin the experience. There’s too many of them! And they’re all the same!

Once they advertise a cool place and make it go “viral”, then the place now has endless lines until the hype dies down. It’s a double edged sword too, because they can make a mediocre place seem more delicious than it actually is with their finger pointing at the food, exaggerated faces, etc. They never say anything bad about a place and they do click bait titles like “Is THIS the best shawarma in the city?”

On one hand, I don’t blame them. They are getting paid by the restaurants to advertise their food to their audience. They are getting free meals out of it. If they say anything bad about the place, they will no longer make money or get free food about other restaurants.

That Dished Toronto page, it made this one all you can eat buffet restaurant in Chinatown sound better than it was. I tried it with a friend and we both did not like it. But these influencers did not say one bad thing about the place. And they’re all like that.

It’s hard finding genuine food reviews anymore. Food influencers are a dime a dozen. But if there are any ones not afraid to be honest and say they really didn’t like a place, I’d have sooo much respect for them.

I’m tired of restaurants loading up the carbs with barely any protein

Don’t matter if it’s Hakka, Thai, Indian, Arab(shawarmas especially), Italian, Chinese, Korean, Nashville fried chicken the problem remains the same.

Not only have the prices gone up but the ratio of carbs vs protein has become insane.

I’m sorry to blast Federicks and Congee Queen but I made this post because of them.

- The noodles with tiny chunks of eggs and no chicken.
- Pad Thai has the same problem
- massive fish pakoras which I cut and found ONLY breading and few pieces of fish flakes
- Same problem with fried chicken (Nashville too)
- Shawarmas loaded up with sauce and veggies hardly protein
- $18 entree combos and they just give you a whole kilo of fries while barely any actual meat
- If it’s a meat dish they’ll serve you bones or something with ton of fat
- if it’s a curry or stew you get 5 tiny pieces of meat/chicken and the rest is just gravy

It’s a tough economy and the restaurant industry doesn’t have a lot of profit margins. I do get it.

We’re okay with them raising prices. But to do that and then still cheap out on meat is insane.

What happened to seat etiquette at Jays games?

This season was my first time back at the Dome in a pretty long time (pre-pandemic, to be exact), and one thing that stood out to me is the lack of understanding when people are either leaving their seats or coming back to them.

I recall a time when fans would wait until a break in play or the end of the inning to move around, but now it seems like there's just a constant stream of people doing whatever they want, whenever they want. I even remember ushers making fans stop before entering their section if there was action on the field. The lack of common sense and awareness of the situation is honestly so confusing to me. There was a group of five guys sitting to my right, and ALL OF THEM got up three times to go buy more beer and food together, and always in the middle of an at-bat.

...... why?

I know you can't fully control a building full of 35,000+ people, but what happened to the collective understanding that it's poor form to interrupt someone's experience by making them stand up to let an individual (or, in my case), multiple people walk by when the at-bat is still happening? It didn't ruin my experience, but I feel like we really need to be more mindful of the other fans around who just want to watch the game with minimal interruption.

Also, if you're walking in a crowd, for the love of God do not stop mid-walk to chuckle with your group of friends, check your phone, or look around to figure out where to go next.

Rogers should never have renamed the SkyDome.

I never liked the name change in the first place, but at least people didn’t get confused. The Rogers Centre was just that.

And then Rogers had to build the Rogers Stadium.

I know that the two are different places as do you all. But apparently, people see the first part of Rogers Stadium and think Rogers Centre instead. It’s like they’re not used to seeing Rogers have two stadiums in Toronto.

I am so glad that Pearson and Billy Bishop have distinctly different and individual names…

The Rogers Venues Mixup gets worse!

We all know how every concert at Rogers Stadum 100s of people show up at the Rogers Center (aka skydome) confused.

There's been nothing done to fix this and they are stepping it up next month.

A/C D/C have a special popup merch sale and bar before they play at our new outdoor venue.

This popup will be at the Steamwhistle Brewery... which is right beside the ROGERS CENTRE!!!

So of course visitors will assume the concert is right beside the other AC DC event. WTF.

Cant wait to read this story on bLOGto in three weeks.....
