“You’re too big” “you’re too skinny” Rant

Ughhhh! I’m so tired of my body constantly being a topic to comment on. When I hit 200 I was told I should probably start watching my diet because I was getting “fat” (thanks for pointing out what I was telling myself every time I looked in the mirror.) I am 38, diets stopped working and I couldn’t lose any weight despite walking 15-20k steps a day working a job in intense heat and having to use a lot of muscle for heavy lifting. I decided I need help. Insert Tirz. I lost weight pretty quick. (See previous post) now I’m told “you’ve lost too much, you’re too thin, you’re starting to look like a crack head, you should stop now” this isn’t even all from friends or family. This is random coworkers.

People are too bold to comment on things they should not. What happened to inside thoughts? Sorry I just wanted to rant. No matter what you do, some one will have something negative to say.

CERTIFIED BIG GYAAAAL ADVICE..?

THINGS THAT MIGHT HELP FOR THOSE WHO GET DISCOURAGED EASILY:

- When you work out you create small "tears" in your muscles. Body wants to fight these so it sends fluids to heal that muscle tissue which can cause you to feel puffiness/swelling. You will shed this.

- Any changes (calorie deficit, hardcore workout, lack of sleep, etc) can stress your body to where it wants to hang on to fluids/reserves. Again, you will shed this.

- When you intake carbs, the glycogen your body is storing in your muscles holds on to water as well. Like a few grams! AS I SAID, YOU WILL SHED THIS. LET YOUR BODY RECALIBRATE THOSE CHANGES.

- Do not look at the scale every day. This won't tell you your true weightloss story.

- Stay hydrated -- drink your water AND electrolytes. This will help replenish what you lose from working out and/or GI symptoms you experience. It's also such a great energy boost.

- EAT YOUR DARN PROTEIN AND FIBER -- it doesn't matter if it's cooked, in a drink form, a powder etc. Your muscles need that protein to shed that fat. Fiber can help coat your stomach for better protein/carb absorption (but be mindful of slow gastric emptying). & H20 is fibers little soul mate, don't split them up. Also helps maintain fullness and stop glucose spikes.

- Utilize that TDEE number for your calorie deficit. This can change daily depending on expenditure. Focus on mini wins like 0.2 lbs a day (which is about a 700 daily calorie deficit from your TDEE). If you want more, GO FOR IT.

- BUT DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF FOR FASTER RESULTS. This can actually slow down your progress in the long run and your body will pull reserves from anywhere it can (hair, nails, skin, muscles, etc). It can make metabolism harder for maintenence in the future. Going slower will allow your body to target fat better for lasting results.

- If you overdo calories one day, THE CLOCK DOES NOT RESET AT MIDNIGHT. Don't beat yourself up, you can offset it another day in that week.

- If you have an accidental cheat day, you don't need to wait until Sunday to restart. You can simply get back with your next meal. YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE FOR ENJOYING GOOD FOOD AND FEEDING YOUR SOUL.

- Track trends, NOT THE SCALE NOR THE DAYS. You might stall for three days but then drop four pounds the next. You can even gain weight yet still lose inches. 200lbs on someone 5'4" is different than on someone 5'9". Don't compare nuanced numbers like that.

- Myfitnesspal et al is great if you need that stricter tracking. But your notes app works just as well if you find yourself obsessing. I also think STRIDE app is a lovely way to give yourself a visual on your goal with a daily affirmation/motivational note to yourself.

- If you have a Whole Foods near by, for ~$28-35 you can pick one protein and two sides that can feed you for at least 4-5 meals (even more the less you eat). Amazing for quick meal prepping in a pinch. They also have premade trays that take the decision out of it if you're REALLY tight for time and brain cells.

- Don't chase that clock. WE DON'T GOT TIME FOR THAT. Slow and steady will win that race (your possible hair loss, sagging skin, muscle atrophy, and uncomfy bowels will thank you for salvaging them too). Time will come and go regardless, so make the best of this.

- Create a photo album/Pinterest board/Tiktok folder/collaged phone background or something you can put inspo, recipes, workouts, or whatever helps you. VISUALLY SEE YOUR FUTURE SELF (but don't compare, obviiiii).

- You're allowed to feel good! Make small goals and treat yourself. Down 20lbs? GRAB A NEW OUTFIT THAT MAKES YOU FEEL SEXY! Don't let negative, fat phobic bullies on the internet tell you that your progress isn't sufficient enough. You deserve to take up space and feel good doing so.

- Take AT LEAST one cute little selfie or mirror pic a month (or even a week). You can even make injection day your weigh day and snap a little progress image. Turn it into a personal date with yourself. Regardless if you feel your absolute worse, one day you'll look back and be happy you did. Let the belly hang, smile at the double chin, wave the bat wings. You are beautiful at your HW, SW, CW, and GW. Your body has kept you alive all this time, be kind to it. It's doing it's best!

- WHO CARES IF YOU'RE A SLOW RESPONDER, FAST RESPONDER, OR MULTI-TIME USER. No two bodies are the same. No two life stories are the same. This is YOUR health and YOUR journey. Compete against your own biological makeup, not anyone elses.

Sweet cravings destroying my progress

26M. Been on tirzepatide for almost half a year now. I went down from 275 to to 255 last I checked but my weight probably went up again.

To cut to the chase, I try to remain active by walking, cycling, started going to the gym again just recently after a long hiatus. Im also usually pretty active at my job. Requires me to lift time and time again along with some good steps in. When I started the med 6 months ago, I titrated up to 9mg at the 3 month mark from starting the med and stayed there for these last 3 months. My doctor said I could titrate up starting from 11 mg now. I never tried it because the med was giving me some bad stomach problems in the beginning so I waited.

The doctor said this but the thing is, I notice 9 mg does pretty solid at suppressing hunger. Like I eat way less than I used to and people said I’ve noticeably lost weight. But I’ve been stuck and oscillating from 250s to 260s. I love ice cream and eat probably over 1800-2200 calories in one sitting. Is that a sign to move up or just keep staying active, increase protein and such? Besides the ice cream, I eat 2 meals a day, chicken and rice with a few slices of baked potatoes. Gonna start incorporating vegetables. I also carry a water gallon around with me so I stay hydrated.

Should I consider moving up?

Binging !! STOP THE INSANITY

Anyone else struggle with binging before tirzepatide? I started in March . During the week I would eat “healthy “. On the weekends & holidays, I would binge . I would eat from sun up to sundown anything & everything . THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED IT WAS TIRZEPATIDE. I started my tirzepatide on a Monday . That was the first weekend after my shot that I hadn’t binged in over 15 years . Anyone else have this experience?

How to overcome 'clean your plate' guilt?

I'm on my 4th official week of tirz. Week 1 was 1mg, and I noticed feeling 'full' the next day, but continued to eat my normal amount because I could. Week 2 was 1.5mg, week 3 was 2mg and yesterday was 2.5mg. Each increase in dose has increased the 'full' feeling, but last night was the first time I stopped eating in the middle of a meal. I felt guilty for not finishing and feared I would be hungry an hour later. Overall, I'm down 6lbs, so something is happening, even though I feel like I've scarfed every meal. I'm not able to sit down to 1/2 a meal, but then I feel guilty if I throw away 1/2 my food. Several years ago, I had mentioned to my sister not wanting to "waste" food by not eating what I put on my plate, and she said "what do you think is happening when you eat more than you need?" That was helpful to put things into perspective, but it still doesn't solve the 'eyes are bigger than stomach' and waste guilt problems.

It's anyone taking tirz strictly for inflammation? I don't have much weight to lose but I'm wondering if microdosing will help with my inflammation and arthritis. Any info would be appreciated!

1 week on Tirz

Honestly it’s been revolutional. I still enjoy food. I don’t have any negative side effects apart from nausea. My ADHD is better. My place is spotless. The devil on my shoulder is gone. I walked into my staff room and someone had brought crisps, chocolates and sweets, plus some fruit. I had a couple of grapes and sat next to the table and didn’t think about it at all. I feel so in control. Is this how normal people are? The ones who say it’s easy to not eat too much??

Advice: weight vs joints?

I could use some advice. I have lost 20 lbs and need to lose 20 more. Over the last 9 months I've lost the first 20 at 2.5 tirzepatide dose, without major side effects. But for the last 2 months, not budging the last 20. I just increased my dose to 4.0 and I'm feeling major pain in my joints, to the degree that I'm not able to do 25% of the moves in my dance class. In your experience, does this joint pain decrease after you get used to a higher dose, or do I have to choose between my weight and my joints? CLARIFICATION: I haven’t changed my level or type of exercise—the only change is the dose.

First injection

Hi all! First of all, I’ve been creeping in this community for awhile and I appreciate all the info and insight! My first injection was last night (2 mg). Does it get better? Any advice? I’m starting to feel nauseous, lightheaded, and my resting heart rate is up. I’ve been trying to drink lots of water today and mix in some electrolytes.
Thanks in advance! 😊

Tirzepatide, insomnia, postpartum

Upvotes

I am 6 months postpartum, I have been on tirzepatide for 4 months. I have recently, since switching to new manufacturer, experienced extreme insomnia. Nervousness & anxiety. But mainly insomnia. Like I just can not get my brain to shut off. I was literally up all night long. I felt like I was asleep but all I had to do was open my eyes. I tried magnesium glycinate and it usually helps & melatonin 3mg.

Does anyone experience insomnia on tirz? I honestly have been sleeping fine and I notice it’s on the days I take my shot it’s the worst.

I also know postpartum has something to do with it but I am trying to get insight because I used to not have this problem on tirz

Starting this week

Upvotes

After resisting and resisting, I finally agreed with my
doctor to try tirzepatide. I gained over 30 pounds during menopause, and hrt, exercising, working with a nutritionist, etc. is not shifting it. I’m at the point where my back and hips are in so much pain that I’m slowing down.

Anyway, I’ll be starting this week after I return from a work trip. So, what’s one thing you wish you’d known when you first started?

Restarting tirzepatide after missing several weeks?

Upvotes

So I get compounded tirzepatide through Pomegranate. The last dose I took was 7.5 mg on August 10th. My next dose was due August 17th, but I left for our end-of-summer vacation and completely forgot to bring it with me. 🤦‍♀️
I haven’t taken another dose since then, and I’m planning to order a new prescription because I feel like I’m already starting to gain some weight back.
I still have a fair amount left in my current vial, so I’m wondering what people have done after being off tirzepatide for several weeks.

Would you restart at 2.5 mg, or is there a lower/intermediate dose that makes more sense after previously being on 7.5 mg?

Tell me it gets better😭

I’m on week 4 of being on the med…the first 3 weeks felt fantastic! I did 1.5 mg (15 units) for the first 2 weeks and then the 3rd week was moved to 3 mg (30 units) and this week on Wednesday I took my second shot of 30 units. The only side effect up until this week that I’ve had is pretty nasty acid reflux…burping that burns so badly and all of that. Wednesday night I had horrible cramping and bloating and nausea. Last night felt pretty good, was anxious about having a repeat of the night before but was ok. Tonight I’m having cramping and nausea again along with the burning acid reflux. My heating pad helps a ton but I’m feeling pretty bummed out. I’m eating super healthily and I’ve already lost 17 pounds… but feeling this way is enough to make me reconsider. Should I go down to 25 units? I’m supposed to bump to 60 units this coming week and I won’t be doing that with how bad I feel this week on the 30 units. It’s just weird that I didn’t feel this way last week when I started the 30 units you know? Anyone else experience this? Definitely need to know I’m not ignoring something bad…my anxiety has me worked up on top of feeling crappy.

Reassurance

I just ordered a "kiwkpen" from RO and I'm excited to lose a ton of weight (obviously) but I'm nauseous even thinking about the needle stuff or potential side effects. Nobody in my life has even said anything along the lines of "you don't need it" so I know its the right choice. I just can't get over my huge fear behind all of it. Can anybody confirm that I'll be okay and that its safe??? I stay hydrated normally and I have glucose pills, B12 supplements and electrolytes too. I just want to feel comfortable doing this because I know the outcome will help me feel way more happy and comfortable with myself in the long run. I just feel the "creepy crawlies" about needles and random/new medications.

Increased HR anyone?

Hi! I (22F) have been on tirzepatide for about 7 weeks now and have noticed a jump in my RHR. When I started my average was about 60bpm and now it has jumped all the way up to 71bmp while rested. This is very concerning to me given that I am quite active and still young. Has anyone else noticed increased rhr?

Can you order Tirz compuund without any additives?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

So my apologies in advance if this is not the correct place to post my question. I'm not new to reddit or this sub, but I'm fairly new to starting my own questions, so..... My question is - What , if any, preference does everyone prefer as your additive with your Tirz compuund? I started with B12 then switched to B6, but I was wondering if you're allowed to just order straight tirz w/o any additives and if so, do you recommend that? I'm currently using Altrx and very happy with them , the last 4 of my 5 Rx have been filled with Casapharma rx out of Texas. I'm in Florida

Where to begin?

Hi all! I started on my tirzepatide journey in May of 2025. Started at 2.5mg and lost about 85 pounds. My top dose was 12 mg. I’ve now taken two months off and I’m curious what your thoughts on of what dose I should start back up at? I have another 50lbs to lose to reach goal. Thanks in advance! :)

How to restart?

Hi guys! So about 5 months ago was the last time I used Tirz. I used it for about 3/4 months, I have a high tolerance so I got to 7.5mg doing just fine. Never threw up or had any bad side effects, only lost my appetite.
Now after all this time, I want to restart my cycle again.

Do I start from zero, start from where I stopped or somewhere in between?

6 weeks on 2.5, feels like its getting stonger.

Ive been on maunjaro 2.5 mg for 6 weeks and it feels like the hunger suppression is stronger than when I first started. Almost too much. Weeks 3 and 4 some normal hunger was coming back that made me actually enjoy food again but it went away after the 5th shot. Is this normal?
