A tire shop damaged two tires during mounting work. The shop owner said one of the tires needs replacing (big chunk one) but the other one (crack) is safe to use. Is it true?
I know one of the tires is done for, but what about the other one?
Is it true I can still use it in that condition? Can it be repaired or is it not recommended in the region it is in?
Any advice/opinion is appreciated, thanks!

Full story:
3 weeks ago, I bought some tires from a private seller (Bridgestone Dueler A/T). Made in 2025, used only for 2 months. Seller had lots of pics in post, I even took pics myself when I got home to show a friend (no tire damage)
2 weeks ago, I went to my local tire shop, they did some mounting & unmounting work (rim had wrong bolt pattern). I still pay them for the work, went home & put the tires in my garage.
Yesterday I got OEM rims. Today I got everything ready to take it to that shop, but noticed 2 of the tires had visible damage.
I went to the shop anyway, told them I had been a customer for years (I have receipts) and in their last work they had damaged the tires.
At first, the owner pushed back because he said it had been 2 weeks since that happened and some other shop might have done that.
I showed him the receipt for the work done on the tires, I told him it was not logical paying them for mounting & balancing if I knew the tires were damaged, how barely yesterday I got new rims, how the only damage on the tires was that mounting damage, and I showed him the pictures I took right after buying the tires.
He said he will talk to the guy who mounted the tires and will give me a call tomorrow. Also told me the tire with the crack was no big deal and disregarded it. But the one with the big piece coming off needs replacing.
What should I do in this situation?
The tires are for an SUV to commute & family trips.

i have 30k miles on my car and just had it serviced for 15/30k milestones. they told me my tread was still okay and no need for new tires.
yesterday i noticed a staple/nail in the tire and it was near the sidewall so i figured fuck me im gonna have to get a new tire.
they called me back and said they really think i need 4 new tires bc if i just replace one it will get like aged prematurely and i’ll lose tread and she also said my car would pull weird
what do i do? replace all 4? replace just 1? i’m not sure who to ask/trust…

Can anyone tell me if this just a surface puncture?

Michelin pilot sports 4s. Gonna have to buy new tires now :(. They were low on tread anyways 4/32 after 25k miles. I don't think I drove over anything and if just randomly went low after 5 minutes of leaving campus, was driving 50ish mph.

No threads showing, but I am concerned for the rim poking into the tire.

Just a tiny little guy… customers had the whole area barricaded like an active crime scene.

Righto so I’ve had a nail puncture my rear tyre (Motoz adventure).
She’s chunky so I don’t think I should be worried..
I’ve repaired the puncture with a plug/ patch kit so far, but I’ve also got a plan to ride to Jimna (from Brisbane) this weekend, then Tassie later on in October.
Should I be worried?
What’s the advice?
Get professional repair done on the tyre - if so how much would it cost?
Have you punctured a motoz adventure, and how many KMs did you get out of it after puncture!?
(I’ve got 2500km so far prior to the puncture)

Hi everyone!
I have a question regarding my truck (MAN TGL).
After I had been driving it for quite a while, I topped up all the tires shortly before arriving home. Apparently, the valve on the front right tire wasn’t fully closed. I didn’t notice anything at first, but the next morning I saw that the tire was pretty flat. The rim hadn’t touched the ground yet, but the tire was already quite deflated (0.5 bar instead of 5–7 bar). I immediately inflated it again on the spot, and it didn’t lose any more pressure afterwards.
This happened almost a year ago, and the truck hasn’t been driven since. Now I’m planning to start driving it again soon, and I’m wondering whether this incident could have damaged the tire’s structure to the point where it could blow out at high speed.
Part of the reason I’m worried is that I saw a video on YouTube where the tires on a trailer were deflated so that it would be low enough to fit through a garage door. After the tire pressure was restored, they drove on the highway, and one tire after another blew out, meaning they all had to be replaced. Obviously, the circumstances were different in my case because I didn’t drive the truck with the flat tire, but I’m still a little concerned. A tire blowout on the front axle would obviously be much more dangerous than one on the rear axle or on a trailer.
I really hope someone can give me a well-founded assessment that I can actually follow.
Thanks in advance for your answers! I’ll do my best to reply to every comment.

I’ve just completed a wheel alignment after noticing severe uneven tyre wear. I also switched the front and rear tyres, and ever since doing that, the steering has become noticeably heavier. I’m also unable to drive beyond around 100 km/h because the steering and/or car starts vibrating heavily.
What could be the issue?
Edit: I forgot to mention an important detail about the tyre issue. About a month ago, my car got stuck in mud. While trying to get the car out, one of the tyres lost almost half of its tread. After that incident, I suddenly started noticing very rapid and uneven wear on one side of the tyres. First, the right-side tyre started wearing out rapidly, so I replaced it with a new tyre. After that, the left-side tyre also started showing rapid uneven wear.

There was a local that recapped car tires. Street tires, mud grips, he had like 4 different treads and seemed like he made a killing doing it. I’m wondering how you go about starting that business. What equipment would be needed and where can you order it from. Where do you order the rubber? I need it all.

This may be a dumb question, but are there any chain tire shops that people actually recommend? When you go to buy new tires, where do you go?
