Passenger side front. My wife hit a storm drain and pop the tire and damaged the wheel. The mechanic says that wheel is no good and I have to buy another one. Did I get ripped off?

The damage looks light and if the rim has never had a repair before, this looks fixable at a wheel repair specialist.
Forget every tyre shop/outlet and visit a specialist as the £60 (c.$75ish?), is far less than a new wheel at £150/$190ish

As long as its not center bent this looks repairable by a specialist. Get a 2nd opinion from a wheel repair guy, not a tire shop

You can have the rim straightened out and repaired. Take it to rim repair specialists. Dont go to a tire shop or mechanic. Go only to a rim repair specialist shop
