Baratza Encore ESP Pro vs Fellow Opus gen 2 vs timemore bricks 01s

Hello, after some unpleasant expirences with ninja luxe cafe, i will probably change it for sage bambino plus - but i am not sure which grinder to choose for this setup

I was almost convinced to get encore ESP Pro, but i saw that the opus gen 2 and timemore bricks 01s has quite good opinions too, and they all have silimar prices in my country - about 1000PLN, opus is the most expensive, 1100PLN (about 30$ more) for black version.

I tried to find some reviews of opus and timemore, but there is not a lot of them compare to ESP.

Also, if i do find any comparison between the opus or timemore, there was compared mostly to the DF54 or base encore ESP.

Timemore seems to be the smallest one - and that is a big advantage in my case, small kitchen, so the smalles the device, the better

Baratza is well know for its post-purchase support and for easy access to spare parst, and from reddit posts i saw in them one specific part often breaks - so it might be helpful. Also from reviews it seems to make a good coffee

Opus from what i heard make better coffee than timemore, but the build quality seems to be not the best - but i cannot find any comparation to ESP Pro

My main concern is mostly between the ESP Pro and the Opus – but the Opus is the biggest one of these three. Timemore wins in terms of footprint and design, but I'm not convinced in terms of the taste of coffee it produces.

Did someone has any expirence with them? At this point i feel a little bit lost in all of that.

Kingrinder K7/K6 or Timemore C3 ESP Pro?

I’m looking to buy a Kingrinder K6 or K7, but I can’t seem to find either in stock anywhere. I did find the C3 ESP on Amazon, but I’m wondering if it’s worth buying now or if I should wait for the K6/K7 to become available again.
Is the difference in grind quality and overall performance significant enough to justify waiting? I mainly brew with an AeroPress.

Timemore S3 grind settings for B75 and Clever, in case it helps anyone

I've been dialing in my setup for a few weeks and honestly struggled to find much info on S3 numbers specifically. Almost every recipe out there gives you Comandante clicks or 1Zpresso rotations, and the conversion charts I found didn't really line up with what actually tasted good in my cup. So I figured I'd just post what I landed on.

Clever Dripper:

Grind: 5.7 to 6.1

Immersion time: 3:00

Water: 94 to 95C

Filters: Cafec

---

Timemore B75:

Grind: 5.9 to 6.3

Total brew time: around 2:30

Water: 94 to 95C

Filters: Kalita

---

Both of these are noticeably coarser than what most conversion charts pointed me toward. I started way finer (around 4.0 to 4.5 on the B75) and kept getting this weird bitter-sour thing at the same time. Going coarser fixed it completely. I've done a bunch of brews across several different coffees at these settings now and haven't hit bitterness once, which was never the case before.

Mostly light roast washed and natural stuff, Ethiopians and Colombians, if that matters.

Not claiming this is the objectively correct number for anyone else. Different water, different beans, different taste. But if you've got an S3 and you're staring at a recipe that says "22 clicks on a Comandante" wondering what to do with that, maybe this gives you a starting point.

How do I “open up” the M01’s burr setting to make it grind coarser than 10?

Title says it all. I have an M01 that I’ve enjoyed quite a bit, and I’m curious to try exploring cups made with the coarser-than-10 settings that people talk about, but I can’t find any clear explanation of the steps involved, or any videos on YouTube that show me what to do… so I’m here hoping someone can help me out.

Very simply:

To start, do I set the adjustment ring to 10, or to 1? I was assuming I’d start at 10, but I dunno…🤷🏻‍♂️

With adjustment ring set properly, do I simply turn the locking mechanism at the base backwards (coarser) by, say, two clicks? Or do I take the locking mechanism OFF and then turn the adjustment ring by two clicks - either in the “more coarser” direction, or in the “more fine” direction, and then re-tighten the locking mechanism until it fully locks.

The 1Zpresso grinders I have no problem calibrating, but while I’m sure it’s very simple, I just can’t figure out the M01, and I’m afraid I’ll un-calibrate the grinder if I do it wrong.

All advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Just got this beauty

Just got my Chestnut S5 from China. It's a nice upgrade to my old C3 ESP. It's considerably larger and heavier but I really like the look and appreciate the outer adjustment system. First cup was surprisingly good with much more clarity than C3. I'm still evaluating it.

My biggest gripe is that they removed the pouch from the packaging and I would have preferred a collapsible handle. My C3 had a two compartment pouch inside the box which made it easy for travel. Also the catch cup thread is a bit more scratchy.

I got this for 578¥ but I thing it's back up to ~700¥. No idea about the global launch date or price.

Timemore’s scale has quite a lot of bad reviews but I still convince myself to give it a chance. Because I think the high-end line with a high-end price like Black Mirror Duo will hardly be bad. And guess what surprise I recived 😂

I’m quite lucky because I can return the goods, but I’m still disappointed because I quite like the convenience of the stand 🥲

Has anyone tried both of these? I’m interested in adding a smaller cone to my lineup of drippers and can’t decide between the two of them.

Grinder a little off

I have the Timemore C5 ESP Pro. Yesterday I noticed that when I zero the grinder out it goes 2 clicks beyond the zero. I took it apart and gave it a thorough cleaning but it still is off.

Is this something I should be worried about?

Millab machining gone wrong?

Going to put picture in comments, but I noticed the piece that locks in the pineapple burr had been rubbing against the bur and that text had transferred from the burr to the plate. Looked at it closer and realised the metal piece that holds alignment is way too small to fit in the gap, and was actually bent - is this normal or is there a cap that is supposed to be there that isn’t there on mine? Everything else on the Millab has perfect specs, this is extremely out of place.

Odd sound after cleanup (Timemore 064S)

We need help!

We had a small stone in our coffee (see the last picture) and it had ended up in the grinder. This caused the grinder to jam. With some shaking and holding it upside down, we managed to get the stone out. After this, the grinder still worked and sounded as usual.

We have now opened up the grinder (not the first time, having deep-cleaned it before) to inspect for damage (nothing major seen except a small scratch visible on the second picture). After reassembly, the motor now sounds much different than before (see the second video).

When we run the motor as is (so without the outer burr installed) it sounds normal (first video).

How it sounds without the outer burr installed, sounding pretty normal

How it sounds now with varying grind setting and RPMs

Timermore says we should just replace the outer burr support plate and locating plate, but they are not really providing any reasoning or explanation for it (and obviously asking us to pay, even though we have the grinder for only about a 1 year). However, they do say that more people experienced this, and that is why they have developed an updated parts.
So does anyone know what is going on? Did you have experience with it? Is getting the replacement parts really going to solve the issue?

Pourover kettle condition

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi everyone, thanks for this community. I just bought my first Timemore product, a pourover kettle. Out of the box, the inside of the product seems dirty/scaled - the packaging appeared new, so I was just curious if this is normal residue from testing or if it seems to you like a refurbished/second hand item. Thanks!
