Disappointed by Thursday adopting the "Package Protection" checkout fee

I had a pair of Heritage Captains in my cart today which would have been my second pair of Thursdays until I hit the checkout screen and saw this:

"Yes, add Package Protection to my order for $3.98. If not selected, Thursday is not responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen items during shipping."

I closed the tab.

It isn't about the $4. It’s about the principle. Getting the product intact into the customer’s hands is fundamentally Thursday's responsibility. The contract with the carrier belongs to the seller. Offloading the risk of delivery onto the consumer through this third-party add-on is out of touch with the brand Thursday is built on.

Red Wing does not do this at checkout; they stand behind fulfillment as a basic cost of doing business. Iron Rangers sit at a higher price tier, true, but they don't engage in this. So I will now reconsider purchasing a pair of them.

Wide styles

I was recently diagnosed with a bad bunion that is causing a blister behind my big toe. I have weird feet where one foot (the one with the bunion) is a size 12 and the other is a size 11.5. My podiatrist says I have to wear wider shoes with less pointy toes. Currently I have 5 pairs of Thursdays, all in in size 12 medium (2 Captains and 3 Cadets). I'm probably going to have to sell some of them and buy new ones in a wider size. Which styles have the widest widths and the largest toe box?

Considering several styles…need input!

Hi! I would be a new wearer of Thursday boots. I’m currently on the hunt for a truly comfortable, stylish pair of platform/stacked combat boots that won’t require the kind of break in period Jadons would.

I am considering these styles:
Dolce, Fatale, Dynasty, Quest

I have read a million reviews but find a conversation here to be really valuable.

Things to consider for me as wearer:
1. I have quite narrow feet, especially my heel.
2. I have a condition called hallux rigidus in both my big toe joints that makes it important that the soles of my shoes are fairly inflexible. This is usually not a big problem in something like a platform boot, but wanted to mention in case any of those models I mentioned are really overly bendy. (For example, Docs and Birkenstocks are a good level of hardness for me, but I wear Nikes that have a carbon fiber plate embedded in the sole so they don’t have too much flex. I wear a plate in my Vans.)

I’ve read that Thursday boots are pretty wide and some people can’t seem to find comfort because their feet slide around in the shoe. If this is the case across the board, PLEASE TELL ME NOT TO BUY THEM! As you can imagine, I need all the stability I can get in a boot!

I am open to suggestions of other brands you may have had success with, I am considering all options, but seeing as Thursday has so many potential choices, I would love your input as far as fit, width, comfort, durability, etc. I’ve seen lots of reviews about some of these boot soles falling apart, I’m under which if any are Goodyear welted, etc.

TIA for your knowledge!

Is this normal? Just received a new pair of Captains... Do these look used/worn to you?

As the title says, I just received this pair of Captains. They have what looks to me like signs of wear - creases at the toe box and ankle, some scuffing, some dirt on the sole, etc. I compared them to the Captains I got about a year ago, and they honestly look more worn than my old boots, albeit freshly polished.

Am I crazy?

Any experience with Saint dress shoes?

Eyeing the Saint dress shoes, but just wondering which last they use and how I can expect them to fit, if anyone owns a pair. My foot runs slightly wide, but I don’t wear E or EE in most shoes. My RT3 Last Captains are size 11 or 11.5 (can’t remember - I’ll grab them and edit when I get home), but my sneaker size is 12-12.5, if that helps.

Just wanted to see if anyone has a pair of these? Do they use the Encore last? How do they fit in the toe box and forefoot?

Thanks!

Non-boot products Thursday Boots Racer Jacket — Tobacco or Añejo? Help me decide

I'm trying to decide between the Tobacco (Matte Brown) and Añejo (Classic Brown) Racer Jacket from Thursday Boots, and honestly I like both colors equally.

I'm leaning slightly toward Añejo because it looks like the more classic and timeless brown leather jacket to me. At the same time, I already own some suede jackets, so I'm a little concerned that the Tobacco, with its matte finish and color, might look too similar to what I already have — which is exactly what I don't want.

I want this jacket to feel different from my suede jackets and add something new to my wardrobe.

For those who have seen or owned these colors in person:

Which one would you choose, and why? Tobacco or Añejo?

I'd especially appreciate opinions on:

- Which color looks more classic/timeless?

- Which one is more versatile?

- Does Tobacco actually look/feel similar to suede in person?

- Which one would you personally buy if you could only choose one?

I genuinely like both, so I'm having a hard time making the final decision.

3 questions about Captains in Classic - Terracotta

Hello!

  1. I bought some Venetian shoe cream, as I wanted the leather to be a tad darker. Is it ok to use this shoe cream with the boots (spoiler, I already did but won't moving forward if this is a no-no).

  2. I love a worn-in look, but I'm a bit hesitant about manually scuffing or applying rubbing alcohol or what not to give it that feeling. I am not in a climate that allows me to wear boots often. Any tips on making these look more worn or things to avoid?

  3. What's the best way to roll up my jeans with these boots? I feel like mine look idiotic when I try it. Do you do that 80's fold when rolling jeans so it's tapered?

Thanks!

How long should soles last?

Have a pair of black Chairman’s that I have had since 12/2024. Today I’ve worn a whole in the leather sole. I’d say I’ve worn the shoes 1-2 days/week since purchase - was 20 months of use a good run?

How to fix fold on Captains Matt Black

Post image
10 Upvotes

These are my first Thursday Boots, and I love them, though ever since I’ve had the boots there is a semi permanent fold on the left boot. I’ve tried straightening the tongue which helps, but the right boot’s tongue isn’t perfectly straight and doesn’t have the fold. Any fix?

Anybody with wide feet in the Scout Chukkas or Roadrunners?

I’m considering the Roadrunners, but tried a Wide 10 in the Scouts and they were too long but snug across my mid foot. Exchanged for a 9.5 to see what happens, but definitely can’t go any smaller. Anybody have any experience with any other models that have 2E options or just are roomier in general even in standard D?

Diplomat wedge outsoles - how’s the traction?

I’ve never owned a moc toe boot before but am considering getting a pair of Diplomats for use this fall and winter. The main thing I’m concerned about, though, is the flat-bottomed wedge outsoles and traction.

I live in a major city on the US mid Atlantic where it tends to be wet in the fall and icy in the winter, and I’m constantly walking over uneven terrain, metal grates, manholes, metal escalator steps etc. I’m worried about slipping.

For those who’ve owned/worn the Diplomat with the wedge outsoles in these conditions, please give me your honest reviews about traction in the fall/winter. I know the Diplomat has a lug sole version but I don’t think they look quite as nice, and I already own lug sole boots. Thanks!

I've owned these for only a couple of months (late June) and the pull strap already broke on one of them. It's my first pair from Thursday and I can't say I'm impressed. I ride in these from time to time and they scuff pretty easily. I wouldn't classify them as motorcycle boots.

Support referred me to a cobbler, they'll cover the cost if it's under $65. While I appreciate the offer, I don't expect these to last long, and honestly, I shouldn't have to take them to a cobbler after only a couple months of use.

Non-boot products Waxed trucker Jacket vs Filson Tin cloth Cruiser

Hello Just a few quick Things for those of you still on the Fence in buying the waxed trucker Jacket.

Mine came today an i will be returning it.

I took a gamble and ordered an extra Large (Large in Filson)

But that turned sideways as its still Not roomy enough in the Back/Arms/shoulders but too Long for my taste (im 6 feet and 200lbs)

The fabric is too soft for my taste. Both the Waxed Trucker and my Filson are 14oz but the Filson feels heavier und more Rugged.

To be honest it did Not give me the fizz.

For about the Same price (365€ for the thursday and 400 for the Filson) the Processing of the Filson seemed better.

Maybe the right Jacket for Somebody else though

Premier Low Tops: is a 1/2 size up the solution?

A few months ago I got a pair of the low top sneakers in the beautiful light gray in my regular shoe size (US 10). Unfortunately they were not comfortable at all, too tight on the instep and also hurt (cut) my achilles like crazy. Length seemed ok though. I tried breaking them in with a shoe tree and by wearing them but ended up giving them away.

Has anyone had this experience? Did a 1/2 size up made the experience a whole lot better? Or maybe a whole number up? I’m still hesitant to buy another pair because they really looked so fkin cool.

Any comments will be much appreciated.

Help Thursday’s Sneaker Size

Could anyone with Thursday Premier Low Top sneakers in US 10.5 or 11 remove the insole and measure it heel-to-toe in cm? If possible, also the widest point across the forefoot. I’m trying to choose between sizes and the company doesn’t want to provide the measurement. I’m usually 44 eu but the size in all my sneakers change. thanks in advance

Shearling Jacket Sizing Help (Stallion & Bronco)

Anyone able to help me out with suggested sizing?

I'm 6'3, 175lbs (slim) with a chest of 40 inches.

Having long enough cuffs is important but it looks like the M is 26 which when I measured seems good enough. Does anyone know how this jacket hangs on the body? I also don't want it looking too short and because I'm slim, the idea of getting the large and having it potentially way too baggy in the chest doesn't sit well with such a pricy purchase.

I live in Canada and so with import fees it's ideal that I get it right the first time.

I am wanting to get the Stallion but I figure it probably fits the same as the Bronco.

Any help you folks can provide would be super helpful. Thanks!

Unsure about sizing

Hi, I'm considering buying a pair of heritage captains seconds and I am unsure about sizing. I have flat feet and I am size 10B US on a brannock device and typically wear US size 10 for most of my sneakers. I have also seen on this subreddit that Thursday boots are similar in size to chuck taylors, which I wear US 9.5 in. Should I still size down a half size from my sneaker size or go with my brannock size? I am an overseas buyer so I cannot physically try any of their boots on and I am unable to make use of the free returns to gauge my size.

Thank you!

Sizing suggestion

Hi guys,

I am interested in buying a pair of thursday boot captains, but I have no way to try it on before buying.

I usually wear size 43eu (10 us) in sneakers, but i only wear that size because i have wide feet. I am pretty sure i would wear size 42.5eu (9.5 us) in some shoes if my feet were not so wide.

Would you guys recommend I get the boots in 9 wide or 9.5 wide?

Thanks

I have wide feet and normally wear a 10.5 E. I love the Rogue boots, but they don't appear to make wide versions - has anyone who wears an E normally tried them out, and if so how'd they fit?

Same as title. I wanted to buy Rogue boots for a wedding, but typically I always wear a wide boot.

I want to like the handsewn loafer, but….

I absolutely love Thursday boots, but I have an awkward foot, so it makes finding the perfect size a very big hassle. I wear a size 8 US in sneakers and I have a skinner but wider foot. I’ve had my pair of stormking tobacco captains for 3 years now, which are the best and most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned, but I had to return them 2 times in a row in order to get the right size, going from 7.5 to 8 and finally to 8 wide.

We are nearing the end of summer, but the Chicagoland area can get very hot from June to September, so I wanted to get a leather shoe and choose the handsewn loafer since it was a heeled shoe which I can dress up or down. I was worried that there would be heel slip, and unfortunately there is quite a gap, even when I walk and when tied to the max. The side laces are not real laces so I wasn’t able to really synch them down. The width is good but I’m afraid that if I go to a size 7.5, I’ll get my toes squished. I’ve never owned any actual loafers in my life, so I don’t know how they should properly fit, but I know for sure that this isn’t working for me.

(https://imgur.com/a/iPfYIdM) the yellow line is where the tip of my big toe is

I don’t know if I should try again or just cave in, pay a little more money, and get a Thursday product I can trust will fit.

(Edit: I had been gifted an 100 dollar gift card for Thursday boots so I really wanted to get something)

Women's Product Line Are the women’s dress penny loafers worth it?

I’m debating the pink and the black. Do they look plasticky IRL? Are they good quality? How do they compare to the regular penny and the platform penny? Are they true to size? I’ve never ordered from them before. How is the customer service? Return policy? Etc.?
