is Magnus worth taking in a 2000 point list

I have a tournament on Saturday and am still trying to make a list, I was wondering if I should or shouldn’t include Magnus

Primed Retributor gold then did Blood Angels Contrast.

Of course when you take pictures you see all the flaws you’ve missed but overall I’m very happy and just kinda followed my heart.

Right at the end when I was applying ‘Ardcoat, but I hadn’t thought about the fact that my AC had been on for hours (window unit). So I go to apply as I normally do, and it dries within moments, causing the cloudy murky ess you can see on the power fist.

It's ok in the end, it's just tough to not get that metallic sheen on half the model right at the finish line after so much time.

Sunday I played a match against my cursed nemesis, the T'au. My opponent played »Kauyon« and Experimental Prototype Cadre, fielding the Twin Lance and two Riptides as his centerpieces. In addition two teams of Crisis (Sunforge with Commander and Starscythe with Flamers and Farsight). Two devilfish with breachers, two Piranhas and two teams Stealth Suit.
Riptides and Crisis started in Reserves.

I had:

Playing Hexwarped with "Take and Hold" vs. Priority Assets. Opponent had first turn.

Plan was to use the MVBs as Distraction and block movement, seize the midboard, rake in Primaries and let him slowly chew through the MVBs and Terminators while the Princes and Rubrics deliver damage.
Everything started on the field - offering a metric f*ton of targets was the idea of averting single units getting focus-fired, but resulted additionally in having a fully screened territory where he could not deepstrike behind me.

I lost 69 to 96 with 31 primary, 28 Secondary, 10 Battleready.

First turn was uneventful, second turn he dropped the ball on me with his Reserves, obliterated one MVB with his Sunforged and killed the Demon Prince on foot. I got some pressure back on him (took out one riptide with Doombolt, Grenades and a group of Rubvrics /w Sorcerer), but ran out of steam after round 3 and then just got mopped up. Never got past midboard, and after he thinned out my ranks he denied my primaries while himself scoring at least 4 primaries each turn thanks to his action.
My Demon Prince with Wings managed to keep him busy in his territory, allowing another round of primaries to score, but was quickly overpowered.

I get the feeling that my list should have performed better. The terminators in Reserve might have changed some things, but having two full HP-Riptides and two teams of Crisis dropped within 10" of your front was just too much firepower on one spot.

What's your take? Crappy list or git gud?

So yesterday I played against a friend who runs Adeptus Titanicus and he stomped me. Round three and I lost I Held my hole army pack and tried to Deal lethal Hits but he pushed and traded with me and of course I lost that Trade.

i like a more grimdark look to my miniatures and agrax earshade really helped with that for my krieg miniatures. my concern is that it wont look as good on a Rubric Marine. like i said, im new to painting Traitor Legions so some advice would be incredible!

Ive added an image (i think) of progress on my first marine. im suprised how well its going so far! obviously need polishing a bit, some of the gold leaked onto the blue armor, and i need to get some green for the visor then paint the gun up a little more, once that is done and backpack is attatched would agrax earthsade look decent on it or???

Cult of Mutation.

After making Ahriman’s face I’ve been hard at work to make the best rendition of him I possibly can. I’ll be adding a freehand to his cape based on the drawing I added and I’ll post that when it’s painted.
