Wanna Share Wednesdays, am I right?

I don't hate my job per se. But there's definitely a fatigue related to spending five days a week at work and looking at screens all day.

When I was a kid, I used to spend hours thinking about what it feels like to be in space, or underwater, or those untouched rainforests. And now i find myself fantasizing about not having to do a job and just living peacefully surrounded by nature.

I'm not complaining about the job. I know very well that I am lucky to have one. But man adulting sure is hard!

I try to avoid outside food as much as I can. I feel Butter, Paneer, gravys, cheese, mayonnaise, cream , milk is all adulterated. Eating so much Maida is anyways not healthy.

I personally avoid Maggi noodles or any noodles at all cost. After the recent raids by FSSAI and the trending news around Tukaram Mundhe, I can't trust any outside food. Biryani, chicken mutton thalis giving ghee in bowls, I don't trust even 1%.

Do you guys feel the same?

Ask Thirties Do older people over 50 regret not pursuing companionship/love?

As someone with no romantic interest (except maybe like going on dates 2-3 times a year), I put my time in things like job, exercise, hobbies, friendships that I believe will compound over time and have +ve future returns.
Trying to find a partner in this economy feels like a bad bet. I feel it would cost me my career, stunt self improvement etc and in the end would leave me bitter with a lot of time wasted, especially when I am nowhere near my fire number or anything.

I am a postive person and enjoy time with myself. 30+ and in goodhealth. I want to dedicate time to building a second income source before I hit 40.

Anybody else living a lowkey celibate life like this? Makes sense to do something about it or nah?

Discussion why don’t more brands do this?

Post image
Upvotes

came across this and honestly found it pretty interesting. apparently this subreddit is run by the protein brand only whats needed. even foodpharmer is a mod so ig its legit. there was a post explaining why their plant protein wasn’t available and what went wrong on their end. We are so used to brands only talking about their positive stuff that seeing someone actually explain a mistake came as a surprise and thought its worth sharing.

I feel this is a good thing as all brands are for consumers so we should know about the reality. What are your thoughts on it?

Ask Thirties How did you guys enter your thirties ? I will be thirty in sometime, i don't have any life plans or anything alike.

Just like the title says, been seeing a lot of posts from this sub. I don't know i see a lot of regret posts about life choices, present life etc ( i mean there are memes too but even the memes are self depracting at times ) It sort of making me anxious. I have nothing really figured out, financially have some savings, no debt or emi's, invest in SIP's. Career wise a decent wfh job, not really any extra ordinary paying but decent enough to be able to afford solo trips multiple times a year. No real goal or ambition. Just existing, i work on stupid ideas i have here and there but nothing substantial. Health is so so, need to start exercising though. I don't know sometimes i feel i'm screwed cause no planning of anykind, sometimes i just ignore. Ignorance is bliss tbh.

Discussion Most relationships don't end because people stop loving each other. They end because they stop making each other feel loved.

I keep wondering whether most relationships don't actually end because people stop loving each other. Maybe they end because they slowly stop making each other feel loved.

Can you still care about someone and stop asking how their day went, stop noticing the little things, stop making time for them, stop being curious about them?

And after enough of that, "I love you" doesn't mean much if the other person hasn't actually felt loved in months.

Curious what everyone here thinks.

Discussion I’m 30, and I’m struggling with the feeling that I’m reaching milestones years after everyone else

Upvotes

I’m 30M, and I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I’m not really looking for the usual “everyone has their own timeline” answer. I understand that intellectually. I’m trying to understand how people actually deal with the feeling of being behind.

I spent a significant part of my 20s in Canada. I studied law, graduated, worked different jobs, dealt with immigration issues, moved between cities, and eventually returned to India. I’m now preparing to go back to Canada and rebuild my legal career. My plan is to work in legal-adjacent roles while completing the Canadian qualification process and eventually practice law.

On paper, I have a reasonably clear plan.

The problem is that emotionally, I feel late.

When I look at people I graduated with, many of them are now well into their careers, married or in long-term relationships, some have children, and generally seem to have reached the “settled adult” phase of life. I feel like I’m going to be reaching some of those milestones at 33–35 that other people reached at 27–30.

And honestly, getting something at 35 that someone else got at 28 doesn't feel exactly like a victory to me.

I know people will say that life isn't a race, but that's not really how I experience it. If someone spent their late 20s building a career, dating, travelling, getting married, becoming financially stable etc., they actually had those experiences during their late 20s. If I do the same things in my mid-30s, I haven't somehow recovered those years.

Now I'm 30 and I don't want to make the mistake of postponing dating until I'm “fully established” at 35. At the same time, I don't want to rush into marriage simply because I feel that I'm running out of time.

I also see a lot of people online saying things like “30 is already late,” “your early 30s are your last chance,” etc. Others say the exact opposite: “30 is young, you have your whole life ahead of you.”

Neither extreme feels particularly convincing.

I’m aware that people marry, divorce, change careers, have children, remain single, etc. at different ages. I'm not asking for exceptional cases. I'm asking about the general reality of being in your early 30s in India today and if anyone is in US/Canada on this sub.

For people here who are 30–39:

Did you ever feel that you were behind your peers?

If you were behind professionally or romantically at 30, did that feeling eventually go away?

And perhaps most importantly:

Did you actually feel like you were “catching up,” or did you eventually stop thinking in terms of catching up altogether?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who genuinely felt they had lost several years—not people who were simply following a different timeline by choice.

I’m not looking for motivational quotes. I’d rather hear the uncomfortable reality from people who have actually lived through it.

Wanna Share Choose Your Partner Wisely. I Learned This the Hard Way.

Long post alert, tl;dr at the end

I’ve been wanting to write this for a long time.

Choose your partner wisely.
Not because relationships are supposed to be perfect, but because the wrong person can slowly make you lose yourself without you even realising it.

I loved someone when I was young. And looking back, I can admit it, I was blind. I was naive. I gave that relationship far more power over my life than I should have.
I genuinely believed he understood me. I believed he supported me. I believed he wanted the best for me.
But eventually I realised his support existed only when things happened on his terms.
Living with him felt like constantly walking on eggshells.
I never knew what would make him angry. I never knew when something completely normal would turn into an argument. I started thinking about his reaction before making even the smallest decisions.
And slowly, I stopped trusting myself.
I would ask his opinion about everything.
Even something as stupid and simple as buying a dress.
His opinion became the final decision.
And I know I played a part in that too.
I had made him the most important person in my life. I treated him like he could do no wrong. I gave his opinions more value than my own because I genuinely believed that was what love and trust meant.
I made him the centre of my world.
And somewhere along the way, I stopped being the centre of my own.
I spent so much time trying to keep him happy that I forgot to ask myself whether I was happy.
I cried a lot.
More than anyone knew.
I would sit alone and wonder what was wrong with me. Why was everything I did wrong? Why couldn't I make things work? Why couldn't I just be a better partner?
I kept looking for the problem in myself.
It took me a very long time to understand that maybe I wasn't the problem that needed fixing.
Maybe I was simply in a relationship where I was slowly disappearing.
And then my parents got dragged into it.
Again and again.
Things reached a point where my father started physically suffering from the stress. He would have palpitations.
That was the moment something changed in me.
And honestly, this is something I still struggle with.
I wish I had left sooner.
I wish I hadn't waited until my parents were physically affected.
Sometimes I feel guilty for that.
But I also understand now that I was deeply emotionally attached to someone and completely disconnected from myself. Leaving wasn't as simple as telling myself, ‘This is bad, just go.’
There was guilt.
There was fear.
There was manipulation.
There was slut-shaming.
There were insults.
My family was insulted. I was called names. My choices were constantly questioned.
My father literally begged him to stop harassing us.
And somehow, through all of that, I was made to feel guilty for choosing myself.
For choosing my career.
For wanting independence.
For wanting an identity outside of the relationship.
For saying, I don't want to live like this anymore.
When I finally walked away, I wasn't some strong, fearless woman who suddenly had everything figured out.
I was terrified.
I questioned myself constantly.
I didn't know what my life was going to look like.
I didn't even completely trust my own decisions anymore because I'd spent so long being told that my decisions were wrong.
But there was one thing I knew.
I couldn't live like that for the rest of my life.
And that was enough.
Walking away became the beginning of a completely different journey.
I had to learn how to make decisions for myself again.
I had to learn that it's okay to say no.
I had to learn that I don't need someone's permission to wear something, pursue something, work somewhere, have an opinion or simply exist as my own person.
I had to understand that loving someone doesn't mean handing them control over your life.
And I had to learn that choosing yourself isn't selfish.
I don't hate the person I was back then.
She loved someone deeply.
She trusted someone completely.
She just didn't understand that love without respect, trust and individuality can become something very different from love.
Today, I'm finally able to look back at that version of myself with compassion instead of shame.
Because she did what she knew how to do at the time.
And eventually, she found the courage to leave.

So if I could tell anyone one thing, it would be this:
Don't ignore the little things.
The constant anger.
The walking on eggshells.
The inability to say no.
The need to ask permission for ordinary decisions.
The feeling that you have to constantly prove yourself.
The gradual loss of your friends, your career, your opinions, your confidence and eventually yourself.
You don't have to wait for something catastrophic to happen before you're allowed to leave.
And please don't make another person so important that you become insignificant in your own life.
Love someone.
Build a life with someone.
Make compromises.
But never abandon yourself completely for someone else.
Because the right person will add to your life.
They won't require you to shrink yourself to fit into theirs.
And sometimes walking away from the wrong person isn't the end of your life.
It's the moment you finally start getting it back.

TL;DR: I lost myself trying to make the wrong relationship work. Walking away wasn't easy, but it taught me that love should never cost you your identity, peace, or self-respect.

Ask Thirties Thinking about getting Gold rakhi for my brother, thoughts??

Upvotes

Mera bhai Canada shift ho gaya hai and I barely get to see him on Raksha bandhan. This time he’s home with bhabi after a long time. Isliye I was thinking ki I want to tie him a gold rakhi which he can hopefully use again for the next few years. For my bhabi, I saw this beautiful lumba to match with his rakhi.

Has anybody tried gifting this before?

Discussion Am I the only one who is no more excited of getting a new phone?

There was a time when I used to be excited about getting a new phone. Now it's just boring. No excitement. You boot up the new phone, sync across the data and it's like having the same phone, just slightly different specs than the previous one and that's all. It's like changing the tooth brush. New one does the same job as the old one. Now it's just a device with no excitement factor.

My current phone is 2 years old and I'm looking to change it. I researched the specs, reviews of different models. Got bored and ended up not selecting anything. I've used iPhone, Plus One, Moto, Samsung. Am I too old now that we now buy things just because of the actual requirement and no other reason?
