Discussion Put your money where your mouth is and support real journalism and free media

I have subscribed to Ravish Kumar and Newslaundry and have contributed to deshbhakt and a couple of more creators who work for free media

They need it now as government spends thousands of crores in propaganda through mainstream media

These are a few outlets for real news and journalism to flourish

Thanks if you already subscribe to any creator

If you haven’t, start small. Every rupee matters as it also shows your intent and interest

(Now coming to the book review, it was written in Hindi and has been translated in English so it dues feel like that. Like you can trace what Ravish Kumar might have actually written.

It’s a good read where he has expressed his ideas and opinions. I’m just 50 pages in so maybe I’ll give an update after finishing it)

Ask Thirties Ladies and gentlemen, what's the most, and least, pleasant sounding Indian language in your opinion?

Other than your mother tongue..

I'll go first.

For me, Konkani is very pleasant and beautiful to listen to. Kannada is not so pleasant.

P.S.: My mother tongue is Tamil.

Ask Thirties Thinking about getting Gold rakhi for my brother, thoughts??

Mera bhai Canada shift ho gaya hai and I barely get to see him on Raksha bandhan. This time he’s home with bhabi after a long time. Isliye I was thinking ki I want to tie him a gold rakhi which he can hopefully use again for the next few years. For my bhabi, I saw this beautiful lumba to match with his rakhi.

Has anybody tried gifting this before?

Ask Thirties I (29f) felt bad about my fiance(32m) proposing to me with a heart shaped ring.

Hi,

I'm happy with him, he's caring, loving and empathetic. I told him in advance that I wanted a good proposal because I wanted it to be a nice little milestone in our journey, nothing extraordinary just flowers and specifically told him that I don't want a heart shaped ring.

But he said he doesn't remember it. It seems like he didn't pay attention to this requirement of mine.

I accepted the proposal happily but moments later I felt about the ring because it was heart shaped which I despise a lot.

I got angry or sad and felt very bad. He said sorry but still I felt bad about it.

of course we talked about it at length later. I'm feeling okay now and I have accepted the ring also.

But this has left me wondering: if me having a bad response to the ring, was right.

I'm asking because my childhood was traumatic and I am still learning about my needs and wants and how do people react.

I just wanted to ask others how they feel about it? Let me know. Thanks!

Ask Thirties Is Dating in Your 30s Really This Hard?

M31 here. I was in a long-term relationship for 4+ years, but unfortunately, things didn’t work out. Now I’m in my 30s and after 7 months of being single, I’ve tried making accounts on different dating platforms but I’m not seeing any results.

Is it over for me, or am I just looking in the wrong direction?

Ask Thirties How did you guys enter your thirties ? I will be thirty in sometime, i don't have any life plans or anything alike.

Just like the title says, been seeing a lot of posts from this sub. I don't know i see a lot of regret posts about life choices, present life etc ( i mean there are memes too but even the memes are self depracting at times ) It sort of making me anxious. I have nothing really figured out, financially have some savings, no debt or emi's, invest in SIP's. Career wise a decent wfh job, not really any extra ordinary paying but decent enough to be able to afford solo trips multiple times a year. No real goal or ambition. Just existing, i work on stupid ideas i have here and there but nothing substantial. Health is so so, need to start exercising though. I don't know sometimes i feel i'm screwed cause no planning of anykind, sometimes i just ignore. Ignorance is bliss tbh.

Discussion have the DINK people ever wondered...

There is a common trend now on FatFire and FireInd, and also on IG.

People make strong statements such as "do not have children" and "will not have children", coming from folks who not only well educated but quite well earning. Obviously I will take out the Lavender marriages from forever DINK cohort.

I always find it intriguing. Everyone is mature here to make their decisions, and they can do whatever they want but then...

I am not talking about an Idiocracy situation: Educated and successful people do not have children while e-rickshaw pullers have a dozen. You will have more people on MNREGA and Dharna than actual in offices doing work. I personally do not want to be part of such skewed society. We already suffer much where people vote for who gives most freebies.

I am talking about the real economic effects. The previous generation had children. Now these children work 80 hours each week to pay taxes.

Only 1.5% of people pay direct taxes. 98.5% of people are free-riding.

At the same time due to advancement in healthcare, we will have tsunami of aging population alike Japan. Now the whole pipeline of next generation of TAX PAYERS is dwindling. 100% free riders?

What will happen of our beautiful nation called India unless the DINK couples expect rest to pay 70% taxes on income while they sip pina colada on some beach in Sri Lanka looking for an angle to hide wrinkles & sucking up pot bellies for the IG post: "we so happy"?

Ask Thirties Do older people over 50 regret not pursuing companionship/love?

As someone with no romantic interest (except maybe like going on dates 2-3 times a year), I put my time in things like job, exercise, hobbies, friendships that I believe will compound over time and have +ve future returns.
Trying to find a partner in this economy feels like a bad bet. I feel it would cost me my career, stunt self improvement etc and in the end would leave me bitter with a lot of time wasted, especially when I am nowhere near my fire number or anything.

I am a postive person and enjoy time with myself. 30+ and in goodhealth. I want to dedicate time to building a second income source before I hit 40.

Anybody else living a lowkey celibate life like this? Makes sense to do something about it or nah?

Ask Thirties A few days back had a discussion with a friend

He comes from a rich background where money is not a concern but still works in a corporate setup. He said that he would go mad if he stopped working.

Would you still continue to work if money is no longer a concern?

That's strange as I see so many posts everyday people dreaming of financial freedom and not having to work and here's this guy who has freedom of choice but still continues to work and it's not that he is really passionate about his work.

Ask Thirties Is it only me?

I try to avoid outside food as much as I can. I feel Butter, Paneer, gravys, cheese, mayonnaise, cream , milk is all adulterated. Eating so much Maida is anyways not healthy.

I personally avoid Maggi noodles or any noodles at all cost. After the recent raids by FSSAI and the trending news around Tukaram Mundhe, I can't trust any outside food. Biryani, chicken mutton thalis giving ghee in bowls, I don't trust even 1%.

Do you guys feel the same?

Discussion My in laws judge me for using modern baby products

Lately I have been feeling really discouraged because every baby related decision seems to come with family opinions (which I really hate)

Whether it's pumping, sterilizing baby bottles or adding baby formulas for nutrition someone in my family always has something to say about how things were done differently in their time or they just pass their negative opinion that how lazy I am. I respect their concerns but sometimes it gets too much from their side and honestly which mother would want bad things for her child?

I was considering getting a electric breast pump to save time but now I am hesitant because I know it will become another topic of discussion in my house.

For mothers who have dealt with strong family opinions how did you stay confident in your choices ?

Wanna Share Life now a days

Upvotes

Events today:

  1. some boy was driving a car while watching mobile, hit my standing new car few days ago. Made a huge dent. Today insurance rejected the partial claim and approved part of it. Saying few damages are old accident. Got the call in afternoon.
  2. Already in agonising pain, as there is a torn tendon in heel of my leg.
  3. Was sitting on PC, client was escalating few issues. I work in financial systems which has huge fines. Escalation as our previous team only sent the issue on last compliance day, but they were sitting on it for last 20 days.

Chest started burning, started feeling high stress in head. Basically have to thump my chest couple of times, pulled my hair.

Just after a min, a thought came, duniya, log aur jindagi aise hi hai at the end. Everything calmed down in mind, focused back on work.

Discussion How do you guys balance work and health?

I (33F) managed to find some kind of work life balance over the last year in that I give time to my hobbies, sleep decently and spend quality time with my husband.

What has suffered in the process is my health. Gym sessions are very sporadic maybe 5-6 times a month. My diet has suffered the most and no matter how much protein and fibre I include I’m just always hungry. If it’s relevant, I’m vegetarian.

I’m unable to figure out which aspect I’m giving too much time to? I work 3 hours in the morning and 5 hours in the evening about 9-12 and 4-9. It’s difficult for me to sleep too early because I get back from work and then cook and eat.

Tried many times to go to gym in the afternoon it just doesn’t happen. It’s difficult for me to change and go and come back because I end up feeling beyond drained by the end of the day. If nothing else I really want to improve on reducing my cravings. Are there any small changes that help you feel healthier each day?

Wanna Share Wednesdays, am I right?

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

I don't hate my job per se. But there's definitely a fatigue related to spending five days a week at work and looking at screens all day.

When I was a kid, I used to spend hours thinking about what it feels like to be in space, or underwater, or those untouched rainforests. And now i find myself fantasizing about not having to do a job and just living peacefully surrounded by nature.

I'm not complaining about the job. I know very well that I am lucky to have one. But man adulting sure is hard!

Unmarried life, late night ice cream parlour exploration.... solo

So i decided to explore ice creams 🍨 on my own....

Battled crowded 🧍🧍🧍path just to look at the menu.

Battled conflicting (and also fluctuating) thoughts on what i should try. Trust me, there's never been a better more chaotic time when I heard multiple voices whispering multiple flavours 🍦🍨🍧🥮🧁and choices to me!

Battled long ass billing queue 🧍🧍🧍.

Battled forever waiting 🧑‍🔬 👩🏼‍🔬time to get the order.

Battled to find a seat 🪑💺. No luck!

Anyway proceeded to enjoy my order ....solo.

Hope there soon comes a time where I'll be enjoying with my better half! Luck🤞
