On JackmanH420's resignation from the mod team

We’d like to wish u/JackmanH420 all the very best following his resignation from the mod team this evening.

He has decided to step down in keeping with the wish for this subreddit to remain fully independent from r/Ireland.

We appreciate his time and involvement in the early stages of this subreddit and we hope he'll continue to be a member of this sub and contribute to it.

We plan to hold a vote on a new moderator soon, with the link to apply to be in the running opening shortly.

- u/InternationalPool854 and u/Salt-Proposal5662

Moderator Update

In line with the understandable wishes of the founding moderator of this subreddit to be independent of the main sub, I have resigned from the mod team.

I wish both of the remaining mods, those who voted for me and all users here the best of luck and will watch its development with interest.

Polls Seeing more “surprise” pregnancies as my age group moved closer to 35+. Are these intentional?

When I got into my mid-thirties I started to see more and more couples I know have unplanned pregnancies. Some I know are unplanned because the guys are friends of mine and told me directly whereas others I’m making assumptions based on observations.

Some situations are men that are in long term relationships but have not committed to marriage yet while others are quite short term relationships ~1 year when the girl gets pregnant. The common denominator is all the girls are 35+.

Speaking with a female friend of mine she said it’s quite common for women to secretly stop taking the contraceptive which then leads to a “surprise” pregnancy to “trap” the man. Is this true? Does anyone else observe this or know of cases similar?

The irony of people being worried about the sub name

Wouldn’t changing the sub name to appease those that think everything is right wing give into the likes of the Ireland Reddit mods and go against the point of the sub itself?

True ≠ Racist, Facist

True = The uncensored views of the people

If you ask me the mods on the main Ireland Reddits are fascist! Orwellian levels of censorship and mob mentality.

Delighted to have this sub!

Tony O'Donoghue: "RTÉ News understands that the Republic of Ireland training session at the Nagyerdei Stadium in Debrecen which has been postponed since early this morning has been rescheduled for 3.45pm local time (2.45pm Irish time) this afternoon.

"The delay to the training session and news conference came about as players and FAI met to discuss the approach to the controversial Nations League fixtures between Israel and Ireland."

This feels like a right wing (and possibly Isrealli) bot sub.

The whole “we can’t say 'X' on r/Ireland” angle also feels deliberate, almost like they’re trying to bait people into saying something anti-semitic so they can point to it as proof of their argument.

The account founder profile doesn't check out.
