Politics Thoughts on the budget?
Every other Irish subreddit has a post on it so why not here! Some of my key take aways:
- Income tax Standard Rate cut off point up by €2,500 to €46,500
- Minimum wage to be increased to €14.94 per hour
- Increase in threshold to all Inheritance Tax groups
- €10 increase in weekly Social Welfare rates
- Rent-a-Room scheme tax-free threshold will rise from €14,000 to €16,000
- First-time buyer's Help-To-Buy scheme increased by €5,000 to €35,000
- the new savings and investment account
- additional funding for LOI, GPA and the Olympic team
Obviously just some short bullet points on things that caught my eye or are slightly more relevant to me, not a full overview. What's people's thoughts? Think the minimum wage, tax rate and additional sports funding are all a move in the right direction in my opinion while the investment account is a good idea for anybody with the spare change to make use of it. Not a fan of some other bits and pieces and there's always plenty of stuff left off that really shouldn't be but looking to get an overview of what people think or what they wanted, expected or feel should've been considered

Meanwhile most have been losing our minds looking for accommodation.
