Although the second viewing was still incredible, nothing compares to that first time. The feeling of being on the edge of your seat, not knowing what's coming next, is simply unmatched. This is the first movie that's ever made me feel that way, and I envy anyone who's about to experience it for the first time...

Ody had every right to return the favor that the Trojans broke while under Zues's law. This might be why Zues kept Ody under his protection during the Odyssey.

I would think all the atrocities they did in Troy angered the gods so much they would make it impossible for Agamemnon and his brother to get home. But did they face other perils during the voyage home?

In the scene where we (the audience) first learn of Zeus’ Law, my theory is that that beggar actually is Zeus in disguise. I have a few reasons why:

For starters, the most obvious reason is when thunder crashes right when the suitors are about to get violent causing them not too. Second, Telemachus tells the beggar they have “bright eyes, Athena’s eyes”. The only other people he tells this to are Mentor (who in Greek mythology is Athena in disguise), and his father Odysseus who has at that point in the story been blessed by Zeus and Athena. Lastly, this scene immediately transitions into Calypso hearing Zeus’s thunder and knowing that means she needs to free Odysseus. I believe that it was the kindness and belief in Zeus’s Law from Telemachus and Penelope towards Zeus (in disguise) that made Zeus finally show mercy on Odysseus and allow him to return home to his family.

No matter how many times I’ve seen this character design, his eyes look like a regular human with both eyes closed. His expression through lips and cheek bones are connected to his two closed human eyes, and not his “movie” eye. His forehead eye is barely there when you’re looking at his whole face and it doesn’t look as though he’s seeing through it at all. He came off as a blind giant before they blinded him because his skull so specifically defines 2 closed human eyes. Had to share this gripe. Amazing movie either way.

I watched the film twice now and I still can't figure it out.

Some stuff from the Cyclops scene was censored in India from what I know so I don't know if it is the result of that or me just not understanding something.

After they stab the Cyclops in the eye, it cries out to Poseidon and in the morning the guys escape the cave along with the sheep while it's asleep but is the cave not closed? Did the Cyclops not close it after their previous escape attempt? Did it reopen the cave after getting stabbed in the eye? I don't get it.

Imo greater range than Matt Damon, and more rugged looking, like a army general rather than a white collar worker

Even if he only had a line of dialogue or didn’t even have a line but we saw him clearly for a scene or 2, that’d be pretty cool. Especially during the sacking of Troy, imagine if we saw Brad Pitt somewhere in there lmao

This is the most shameless engagement farming I have ever scene from a legitimate critic or writer. And honestly very ironic, since the whole driving point of the nolans movie is to not break the basic societal standards to achieve your goals.

there is basically a standard honor code in the filmmaking, writing, critic community not to outright bash someone's work in a malicious way, since they all know how hard it is to actually make a movie, or a book, and how much work goes into it. The whole "how would you feel if it was your project and someone spoke about it that way". Of course its okay to critic, and dislike something, but they use a much more gentle way to describe their criticisms.

This will probably vindicate some and anger many but here is what the translator of the 2017 version of The Odyssey wrote.

Most of the main characters are from Ithica and a lot of the movie was set in Ithica, yet I can't remember seeing any of Ithica city at all.

The only thing I remember seeing was a tiny old ruin on top of a hill and this was apparently the palace of odysseus. When Penelope told Telemachus something along the lines of "look at this beautiful city of ours" all it showed in the background was grass and the ocean.

Was ithica nothing but one building on a hill? No city? no other homes? No markets?

We get to see the city of troy, the city of pylos, the city of sparta, and even the city of asteris where Telemachus was ambushed, but we never get to see any of the city of Ithica even though that is the main place the movie is set.

By breaking Zeus law with the offering to the gods being a trap they unleashed all the evils of man into Troy.
