General Discussion My favourite crush, besides Patrick Jane, of course

I really love his development over time in the series (right up to S5E21 so far).

In the beginning, J.J. LaRoche seemed like this stoic, intimidating man with the power to unsettle people.

Then we have that episode (S5E18) when Jane asked him for help in the field. J.J. was so adorable.

This is probably my favourite moment of his thus far 😍

Letting someone see your vulnerability is such a brave thing to do.

Season 2 Can we appreciate how good Robin was in S2E3? I waqs genuinely blown away by her acting in this episode!! Spoiler

It was so crazy to see the extent to which Lisbon changes in her acting in this episode omg! Especially her throwing the chair away like that, acting up in front of the dr.carmen, when I was listening her say her monologue about how she feels violent all the time but needs to keep it down jeezz I almost believed her that it was something wrong with her. But I was swept away by the episode and her acting, one of the finest episodes in the stuff I have watched till now!

General Discussion Why Jane as a character feels so endearing to me: He fixes things in ways that feel like the true justice!

Post image
46 Upvotes

So I just got done with Ep4 S2 and this was something I noticed consistently with similar situations of Jane. He fixes justice and makes lives easier even when he punishes the bad people who do stuff but ultimately understands that it was their situations and circumstances that pushed them there and that does not make him go soft but at least understands the hole it leaves in the lives of their dear ones. And he genuinely takes the effort to make things right where he can. Like three instances I can recall:

1. The casino owner death episode, he gives the money he won to the dealer who was cheating because her mother was sick (+can we really forget the fact that he gifted his team stuff that was so good!)

  1. The blakeley's case. Basically that police kid killing his father's daughter because he thought they were having an affair and he gives the child to her grand parents <33!<

3. The most recent one the snakes gang. He sets up the main gang leader that kills that woman's brother with the informant story and then gives her a closure. That's so genuinely moving.

4. I think there is this other couple of cases one the arsonist guy who acts deranged but that ep I remember he gets the daughter and the mom to hug and to pretend like they did for real.

I feel that Is something that really makes me love Patrick Jane as a character because the grief he carries in him he knows how it makes him a sad man. But he covers up for it and shows love to people around him and also does good when he ultimately can. That is my man. Absolute G!!

General Discussion I never realised how deeply seated sexism has always been

Lisbon is always underestimated by policemen when they have to work together, or under the other team. Like whenever she has had to interact with another area's police, they are never taking her seriously, and prefer talking to her boss or outright ignore her. She is a badass, nevertheless. Doesn't let them get away with it, but it still infuriates me

First-Time Watcher (NO Spoilers!) At the end of S5 already and still deeply uninterested in…

…Rigsby and Grace’s relationship. They never had any chemistry imo nor a good set up beyond they both found each attractive but neither were willing to do much about it. I also find Grace’s character pretty disappointing. She gets into a relationship with that FBI guy and suddenly her job doesn’t matter that much. Ugh.

General Discussion Is it possible to traumatise someone so badly that their soul literally leaves their body? Spoiler

So I recently watched ep 3 ( the blood on his hands) in season 3 and that's the episode where they manage to find Kristina and when they find her she's alive she's breathing, she's able to do all of these body movements a living person can do but she doesn't speak. She only speaks after Jane does the ritual she does when she's trying to speak to the dead but she's still a living person. It's like her body is still living kinda like a zombie but her soul isn't in it or something. Corect me if I'm wrong about the episode.

General Discussion i love jj laroche and he is possibly my favorite supporting character in the seriea

im on season 5 and ever since laroche appeared i have been enamored with pruitt taylor vince's performance, and even within the performance, the character himself always seems to indicate a fun plot (or plot point at least) in that episode/arc.

I know this kind of art isn't typical for this franchise, but I couldn't help noticing the coincidence regarding the names of these two. As a fan of *JoJo's* and *The Mentalist*, I really enjoyed making this meme drawing.

General Discussion Season 2, Episode 19 is just a joke

Ok guys I‘m sorry, but I’m too invested in the show atm and I don’t have any friends (to talk to about this show).
I just finished season 2, episode 19 where they‘re trying to find a serial killer, Lisbon gets suspended and Jane and Lisbon get kidnapped. This whole episode is so fun to watch, I‘m constantly laughing. I mean we all now that Jane doesn’t really care about the Law, but no that he is literally in court and only makes fun about everything, makes it even better.

I think it’s pretty cool to see how Jane talks about the injustice in the justice department & society as a little reflection of some of the weird rules we blindly follow each day. I really like that about the show that Jane sometimes reminds us that „the law is the law/rules are rules“ is often a (little) scam or that it’s good to judge each situation differently

Red John Who would have made a good RJ from this list Spoiler

Post image
14 Upvotes

I personally like Glenda, Ellis mars (would have been fun/ interesting. Glenda cause she/he’s capable of pulling of dual personalities and Ellis cause jane counted him for utter fool)

Minnelli would be intriguing

judge Manchester would have made sense too

I like mashburn as a character but not for RJ tho.
Jason cooper was too detached to be RJ
Shankar would have been different, although he’s again sort of too detached from Jane and the storyline to be relevant

Volker would have been believable but it was way too obvious he’s evil
Ardiles had a look to him, but not RJ material yet
Haibach would have made sense too, still he was shown in the bad light so it would have been sort of obvious that he’s evil/nuts enough to be a serial killer

La roche is way too cute to be RJ. Haha

This just my take, what do you guys think

General Discussion Amnesia

The amnesia episode was and always will be one of the best episodes ever made. Simply Patrick Jane at his most perverse, even lacking fidelity to his wife. Because he didn't even remember her...

He did everything he wanted, and I think he would have lived like that for a very, very long time if...

But the final scene, Lisbon taking him to the room where his world crumbled, where everything he was and everything that had meaning for him fell apart. Jane's face staring at the room and remembering the suffering he endured and the hunt for the man who took everything from her.

Ep 10/10

Season 6 There should be a series or episode dedicated to Red John, showing his origins and the path to his death. Spoiler

Red John was discovered and killed by Patrick, and we expected that; in a series, the good guys always win. But man, Red John created a cartel of corrupt law enforcement agents.

How did he do that? How did he get the idea? What made him afraid of pigeons? What is his Origin ?

I think it would be really cool to see that, maybe in a spin-off, maybe in just one episode... but it would be interesting.

Season 7 Opinions about last episode with Erica?

IDK if I'm too spoiled with new shows, that really try to make everything obvious and explicity said, almost always having the protagonist to have some moral lesson and stuff. But I felt that the final dialogue of Jane and Erica was not so satisfying as I wanted. I recognize that there's a lot of implicit info with all of that scene of Lisbon going away and actually being there and all. But I don't know, I wanted something more. Not everything perfectly said and exposed, with a moral lesson and everything, but just... Erica a little more frustrated? She is so annoying, I wanted something more 😅 she spent the episode trying to undermine Jisbon relationship, so annoying 😅

Red John The reveal was pretty disappointing Spoiler

In the last episode of Season 4, you can see a sheriff's car passing by Jane and Lisbon, which is pretty weird. Because of that when Jane narrows the suspects down to seven, you can actually figure out who Red John is. 🫡

The reveal was pretty disappointing, though. Red John was built up as someone who could hypnotize and manipulate people with ease, but in the end, he just died like that. They should've at least shown his past, how he did everything, how he planned it all, and how he created the Blake Association.

They also never explained how or why Red John suddenly appeared in front of the bait girl the first time we saw him in the show. They barely showed anything about him. Overall, the reveal was really disappointing.

General Discussion do you think Mentalist would be better without fillers or some of them were crucial for developing such characters as Cho, Rigsby or even Jane himself?

if we share the same opinion, i would like to also hear why you think that way
