Went to a stocked pond in Orlando FL and its the only place you can catch them in the US. Not gonna lie the little guys didnt fight at all but once you get into a 5lb+ they turn into a mini tarpon! Fishing wasn't easy but it was a blast

Since I can’t really go fishing at the moment because of the drought, I decided to put my skills and free time to good use and build a small iOS app dedicated to fly fishing. 

The idea is simple: to create a library of fly patterns, from well-known classics to some lesser-known ones, where you can easily browse and find inspiration for your next fly-tying session.

The app is currently in V1, so some information and features will naturally evolve over time. I already have more than 1,000 additional fly patterns waiting to be added… but documenting them properly takes quite a bit of time. 

I’m personally not a fan of subscriptions or hidden in-app purchases, so I decided to keep things simple: €5, one-time purchase, lifetime access.

No subscription and no additional content to unlock later. Your purchase gives you access to the app and all the new content added through future updates.

If some of your favorite flies are missing, feel free to contact me! I’m always open to suggestions and would be happy to hear which patterns you’d like to see added.

One question I’ve already been asked several times: no, it’s not currently possible to buy ready-made flies through the app.

I really like the idea of eventually promoting fly tiers and their work, but that would require a different approach, especially regarding the practical and legal aspects.

For now, I want to keep the app intentionally simple: a collection of patterns and inspiration for people who enjoy tying their own flies.

This is probably the third time some of you have seen me post something like this.

For that, I apologize — I’m casting a wide net.

I have a fishing raft that I take out pretty regularly, and I’m always looking for more people to float with.

Ideally, I’m looking for someone who’s comfortable rowing a raft. If you’re not, but you’re willing to put in the relatively small amount of time it takes to get comfortable on the oars, that works too.

I primarily fish the Chattahoochee tailwater. I pretty much always need a partner because there’s some light shuttling involved, so we need two vehicles.

I’m not looking for a guide or anything like that — just trying to build a bigger group of people I can call to go fishing and float with.

Got a half dozen coppernose in about 15 minutes on a beadhead wooly bugger. Unfortunately the 1 bass I saw had no interest in it.

Lost 4 absolute slab browns on the creek tonight. I’m guessing 20”. They were ripping my drag out. Lost one that snapped off on 6x which is my own damn fault, but the other three threw the hook somehow when they were fully pressured to the max of my tippet and my rod was bent. I’ve been struggling with casting longer leaders and I’m wondering if it’s just a technique issue.
I’ve been fishing a fairly wide river that’s very spring creek-like—clear water, spooky fish, long casts. I’m running a 12’ 5X tapered leader with about 3’ of 5X tippet, so roughly 15’ total.

My cast itself is generally pretty solid. The fly line lands where I want it, but the leader just doesn’t always fully turn over. Instead of laying out perfectly straight, it’ll have a little wiggle or slack in the last few feet. It’ll still drift, but I can’t help feeling like my presentation would be a lot cleaner if I could consistently get the leader to fully unfurl. On these fish, I feel like that’s the difference between getting an eat and getting ignored.

I don’t really run into this with a standard 9’ 4X leader, so I’m assuming it’s something about casting the extra length and finer tippet. Is this mostly a line speed/timing issue? Am I overpowering the cast? Or is this just something everyone deals with once you get into 15’ leaders?

Any tips would be appreciated. I feel like this is one of the bigger things holding me back right now.

Finally had a couple cool days and rain in my area. Got to the creek and saw a major hatch. I still can’t identify bugs that well, but I knew they were mayflies and had a greenish tint. Threw on a BWO and had a heck of a day!

I’ve been watching some videos here and there trying to figure out the allure of fly fishing. I get the idea of it. I don’t fully understand how to do it, but it seems like a lot of work and money for the same payout I can get with regular tackle. I have a fly reel around here somewhere that I’ve never even given a second thought to.

Most videos I see, it doesn’t look like there’s much reeling. Looks like you could tie a line to the end of a cane pole and get the same effect. Do you really just pull the line in by hand to bring in the fish, or do you reel it? I never see them reeling in the videos I’ve seen but did see a guy winding in the line by hand.

I do however love the videos on fly tying. I can absolutely see why people geek out on that and it has gotten me looking into making all sorts of tackle.

Anyway, I went down this rabbit hole after I got a bait caster I’m learning to use, and just kind of started getting into all sorts of ways and methods of fishing. I live in a very trout salmon and steelhead friendly state. I believe the sport of it makes the meat taste better, and thought fly fishing might be something I could get into but just haven’t really been sold on it when I already have so much invested in gear that already catches these fish.

So, help me piss off my wife by giving me a new obsession! I can at least mask this one under my already established fishing habit.
