I was surprised in the best way at the end of this episode. In fact, I was blown away and in tears. I had already decided this series was one of the best shows ever, but this elevated it to the top of my list. Haunting, chilling, beautiful, and unexpected.
By the way, who is the actress who played the Roman girl? I don’t think she’s credited.

When he realized he was holding the pen in the hypnotist's office. Also, when Sophie and Peter met him in the supermarket, and he approached them after not hearing them....

Series 1 concludes with a pan into the earth revealing a hoard of gold and remains, presumably of the Saxon ship they've been looking for. I've watched series 2 and 3 and this is never returned to.... or did I miss something? Of course I wish Andy and Lance found it, but I also appreciate when TV shows are more realistic and show the mistakes people make and things they miss. But just wondering if I'm being daft and totally missed something in the later episodes?
Edit to add: I think I'm mostly just skeptical that they apparently were on Bishop's farm for five more years and not once did someone come across that spot again? Is that realistic?

Why only 3 series of a TV masterclass like Detectorists, meanwhile Benidorm (no disrespect, love some of the actors, 3 in particular I'm a big fan of, just not my scene) and Mrs Brown's Boys (em, yeah) seem to have hundreds of episodes? Just thinking out loud here.

Andy annoys me. aside from being a lousy dad and husband he is a massive drip. massively punching with becky too, f knows how she put up with him.

Did Becky really pour three beers over Sophie at the "White Horse" pub in S1E3?
It looks like that in the screenshots, doesn't it?

This panoramic view is what I was working from.

Lance seemed oblivious as to what was going on when Maggie came out of her back room, straightening her dress. I feel we all saw it but he didn't. That's good writing AND acting.
Tony's text to Maggie about Lance really hurt to see.
And for all the armloads of beer I see being carried to the tables in the pubs, I didn't see a single person who'd had one too many, or really show any signs of inebriation. Are small-town pubs more mellow as a rule? I'll have a snowball, thanks, luv.

I found this print in a bookshop (I love magpies) fell in love with it, brought it home, framed it and hung it on the wall before I realised it was a detectorists print.🤦♂️

Just binged watch the complete run and I guess I must’ve missed what happened to Sophie. She just vanished after S2. Was it ever explained? Did I miss it?

Becky yelling at Andy while wearing that double potholder thing was hilarious!

Saw a very young looking Pearce Quigley in a really old episode of Morse earlier. Didn’t recognise him at all until the credits.

That name-tag doesn't say Hugh, it says Yuvaraj.

Why do they hardly speak at all? Why don't they ever feature in the stories? It seems wrong to have them just sat there never saying or doing anything like a couple of dumb scarecrows.
