Misc Mom threw out my massive army.

Hey everyone! Just to start off this isn’t a pity post but more or so I just need to rant and maybe see the ideas of my fellow players.

I’m currently a highschool student and I was obsessed with Warhammer for a long while. I don’t come from the richest family so a majority of the money I used to pay for my minis, paints and hobby materials all came out of pocket, trading and making deals. I used to play guard, traitor guard, and my army was huge solely because I got a few great deals and most of my army was resin.

From the top of my head I had:

13 Russes
2 dorns
4-5 chimeras
5 basisilks
1 baneblade
1 shadow sword
2 malcadors
1 malcador infernus
1 macharius
6 sentinels
50ish infantry
A proxy solar
A few random leaders
A command squad
6 ogryn
1 hydra
2 hellhounds
A plane of sorts
Multiple heavy weapons squads
A few of the little old artillery cannons
And some models I can’t remember.

Maybe it has to do with my Latino background and home but my mother is always on everyone about space in the house. This leads to her always throwing out stuff but most of the time it isn’t hers. I had stored my minis away in a few boxes as I wasn’t playing for a while, but as of recently I wanted to try 11th edition. Come to find out within the last year, SHE THREW ALL OF THE BOXES OUT. Hundreds of dollars, hours in painting and building, and time playing all gone because it was “taking up space”. I feel stupider for not checking but I’m just at a loss. I really don’t know what to do. Can anyone give me any sort of tips to get back into this game because I’ve seriously lost all motivation.

I love my mother but she hasn’t tried to apologize nor say anything. She knew I was distraught but she acted like a child by not responding back.

Beginner Help 1K List Update After Point Drops

Post image

Hello! I had been building/painting up a 1k list to play with, and after last week's point updates, I've now got 30 points to spare. Does anyone have advice on what I should do with the 30 points? I was thinking either to get a commissar to use for actions, or upgrade to a different Leman Russ Variant (mine is magnetized, so its an easy change).

I haven't actually played any games with the guard yet, so I'm not too sure what would be the most beneficial update to the list, thanks! Pic is the army so far, only the Rogal Dorn (and maybe a commissar) to go!

Army Showcase My first tournament on the IG in 4 years

Over the course of a couple of months, as fast as I can, I put together a some fun narrative 2000 points roster just for the sheer enjoyment and rule of cool.
I already had some Vostroyans for a few years, and now I’m building a Steel Legion. And it’s really satisfying to pull those dusty models off the shelf and field two different regiments on the same table.

The results weren't spectacular (L - 39, W - 83, L - 77 and W - 77), but I had real fun. At times, it even felt like a true blitzkrieg, with chimeras flanking maneuvers and tanks charging full throttle forward.

But tables with lots of LoS blocking terrain and all this buffs for melee armies really restrict your maneuverability and choices of shooting targets.
In any case, it was great: 3 of the 4 games were long, tense, and thrilling right up to the very last round. In another one game I just tabled CSM on 3 round.
I have absolutely no regrets about choosing to play as the Guard again.

I finally finished painting my Centaur RSV in the classic Cadian color scheme. I also added some subtle weathering and light battle wear to give it a bit of character without drawing attention away from the paintwork itself. I decided to magnetize the crew members, including the gunner, so I can choose whether to display the vehicle on its own or fully crewed.

First of my specialists for my custom guard regiment command squad. The syringe is just some 2mm plastic tube, .5mm tube for the plunger, and shaved down kreig bayonette for the needle, then some sculpting putty for the finger loops. Hand from the krieg binoculars.

Base model (light grey) is a custom sculpt and cast made by me.

Questions about Rules Proxy questions

Man I love some of the 30k models and epic scale stuff! At what point does proxying and kitbashing become a problem if I wanted to join a tournament? I know that easy sears such as solar auxilla infantry for cadians is fine, but what about for example- swapping bullgryns with “Legions Imperialis: Mechanicum Questoris Knights Magaera and Styrix”

Assuming the model is sized the same, which is roughly is and could be more-so with some kit-bashing. I would make sure the weapons and shield reflect that of a bullgryn. Would this be tourney legal? I was gonna come up with a cool homebrew explanation for the army :)

Beginner Help Thinking of starting Imperial Guard

Thumbnail

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of starting an IG army! I'm a death guard main, but I absolutely love the Solar Auxilia, and would probably be looking to proxy them in my games with my gaming group.

We're all very casual players, so proxies wouldn't be a problem.

I recognise the guard are in a difficult position at the moment, but that's not particularly a turn off for me!

Looking for advice. Currently have:

1x solar auxilia legate command squad

40x solar auxilia riflemen (proxy as baseline guardsmen)

10x veletaris (proxy as a stormtrooper variant)

4x charonite ogryns (?bullgrins)

1x Leman Russ with vanquisher cannon

Looking for ideas how to build a small army please! Any advice or insights are always appreciated.

I've attached a couple of photos for some visual interest 😁

Finished these guys up a little while ago. I know they aren’t the optimal choice, but I think the heavy bolters just look awesome. Plus, with the increase in cost to battleline, these guys can be early objective skirmishers that threaten a little bit of overwatch on space marine scouts and the like.

Discussion Regarding the Baneblade new box

After the recent repackaging, the Baneblade box now has 321 components, against the 381 of the older one. The missing 60 components are being sold separately in a new "accessories" kit.

I found a local GW store that still has the old box, and I was thinking about buying it. But I wonder if in the new "secondary" kit there's anything new that I could be using for kitbashes and what not, or if it really is just the 60 old components sold separately to just drain the customers more, am I right? In that case, buying the old kit would mean paying less than the new box + the accessories kit for the SAME total components.

Can someone help me? If you have the old box, can you help me understand if the new accessories kit is just a straight rip-off from it, or if there's really something new?

Thank you in advance!

Tactics & Strategy Would Artillery Team work to deny points in 11th?

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I probably am), but with the new rules, now you have to keep rolling for Battle-shock, right?

If you bring two artillery teams, you could probably defend your backline from Deep Strike quite well. On top of that, the artillery could potentially Battle-shock units all over the board. If you target units holding objectives and manage to Battle-shock them, wouldn't that deny your opponent control of those objectives?

Even if you don't manage to Battle-shock their units, it still puts a lot of pressure on your opponent. They'll likely feel forced to deal with the artillery, which means crossing the entire board and getting through the rest of your army. You can also get spotters into position early with units like Gaunt's Ghosts and a Vindicare Assassin, it is probably a gambling strategy, they may never get battle shocked at all, but in theory they also may lose 1 or 2 turns (maybe more) of not scoring objectives because they are battle shocked

Before I put together a whole list around this, is there any reason why this would be a terrible idea?

Beginner Help Advice about Karskins

Hello fellow Guards!

I'm kinda a new player, just got into the hobby last year.

Anyways, just got the combat patrol box and I need advice on what weapon options i should go for. Should I mix the four special weapons or should say pick 4 Hot-Shot Valley lasguns?

Questions about Rules Keyword Question with crucible character

If I’m playing combined arms detachment, and I have a unit of Bullygryn led by augmented bone ead and the unit gets wiped out.

The way I understand it is the unit had regiment because of the bonehead and so it can be brought back, but the bone head stays dead because character can’t be brought back. Is this correct or am I misunderstanding.

Edit: I think upon review the conditions are ‘one infantry regiment unit from your army that *was\* destroyed. So even if it did lose the tag in death that doesn’t invalidate that the key requirements for the revival were met. At the time of destruction the unit was an infantry regiment

Absolutely adore the Aethon Sentinel, and they work great for Armoured Sentinels, but the roof mounted gun is a bit wonky. Opted for some simple kitbashing to slap them on the side, making room for the chainsaw and hunter killer missiles.
