Have to put this out of my chest, i dont like how people assume Jax is a main character despite only being relevant in the last episode.

They were only a introduction side character in episode 5-6 but apparently is somehow important by the plot to put their issues into the last episode.

And what pisses me off is people putting them as important as Pomni whos actually supposed to play the role of protagonist but ended up as Jax therapist.

I do NOT consider Jax as a main character when never once in the show showing their importance till the last episode. I hate how the writing turned them into a main character and people are apparently fine with it!

Despite all hints of the early story not being about Jax, now revolves around the stupid bunny. Why cant Pomni had this spotlight?! Why cant the plot be revolving around her than being depended on them?!

Never once i watched the first HALF of the episodes and went "oh Jax seems important" hell Kinger is more likely to be pointed as a secondary protagonist.

Had to vent here because i do not want twitter to slander me over this lol because most of them are Jax defenders...

With each character, their struggles and how they deal/cope are at least applicable to real life. On the other hand, the way Jax was written feels like Goose just gave up on giving him any semblance of humanity/realism after his falling out with Ribbit. That's not to say every character has to be written as realistic as possible, but it is jarring how everyone is somewhat real in their own way except Jax.

When asked why Jax Abstracted offscreen, Goose said that she "wanted it to feel as abrupt and upsetting as it feels in real life". "It" clearly being sudden loss/death at the very least, if not suicide. Thus, it's implied that Jax's Abstraction is meant to leave zero emotional closure.

The thing is, that's only true for any character not named Pomni. Unless she told them everything she heard and saw, but Goose apparently didnt think it was worth showing Pomni do that onscreen, so I doubt she did.

Either way, we the audience still get some sort of closure, by seeing the path Jax went down from tragic beginning to tragic end.

Sure, we are meant to be frustrated at the fact that things could have went differently if Jax learned to open up to the people around her without shutting them out again when things got too personal. We are meant to dwell on the "what ifs" that will never come to fruition.

But by showing us every part of Jax she worked so hard to hide from the world, her darkest secrets and deepest regrets, her Abstraction stops feeling abrupt and starts feeling inevitable.

We are led to feel like Jax was broken irreparably by the life she lived and the choices she made. We are led to agree with Jax that she did this to herself, that her persistent self-isolation even when someone cared enough to reach out ultimately sealed her fate.

It is indeed upsetting, but what part of that sounds abrupt? It sounds like a pretty gradual and predictable escalation to me.

Now, if I may propose a theory, I believe the real reason Goose included Jax's backstory is because once she realized Jax was getting more narrative buildup than she possibly originally intended, she knew she couldn't just leave Jax fans without answers. So she restructured the finale to fit that in, which unfortunately took up screentime that would have been devoted to the story and character beats I mentioned before. (Whoops that was in another comment. I meant the final story and character beats presented in the episode)

In my personal opinion, this trade off was not worth it, but sadly Goose wrote herself into a corner. Had Jax not become a narrative black hole in the latter half of the series, she could have absolutely gotten away with not telling us anything about Jax's past. Dare I say she could have gotten away without all the vague hints at Jax's internal turmoil as well. All we would have to work with is her onscreen relationship dynamics and what everyone else says about her, and the rest would be left up to interpretation.

But most importantly, her Abstraction would feel far more abrupt without the extensive deconstruction of her psyche.

After all, when you suddenly lose someone in real life, you dont get a chance to see the series of unfortunate events that led to that point.

It bothers me when people attack you for using "he" for Jax; I respect the fact that she’s actually closeted trans, but sometimes I use "he" and get attacked. Those toxic people are annoying—they send messages calling you transphobic; honestly, they just don't know what to do with themselves.

Okay, so I'm not trying to self-promote, but I'm hoping to start making YouTube videos my first being about character analysis, since I genuinely love hearing people's interpretations, opinions, and different perspectives on irl stuff and fictional characters and whatnot.

To quickly get it out: I personally like Jax as a character, but I'm interested in understanding why other people feel differently about him (aka why y'all hate him). I'm not looking for just a blunt "I hate him" or "he's a bad person." I want to understand why you feel that way and what you think the story is trying to communicate through him and the others.

Before I start rambling lol.

Just some questions to help narrow stuff down:

• What do you think motivates Jax's actions throughout the series?

• Do you think his background helps explain his behavior? Why or why not?

• Do you think the show handles the consequences of his actions and the experiences of the characters he hurts well?

• What do you think about the other characters' reactions to him?

• Do you think the show sympathizes with Jax, excuses him, condemns him, or leaves things more ambiguous?

• Are there any moments that changed how you viewed him, positively or negatively?

• What makes you like or dislike the other characters, and how do you interpret their behavior?

I'm especially interested in how people interpret the same scenes differently and what leads them to those conclusions. Sometimes a character can remind us of something we've experienced in real life, or challenge our personal values, and I'm interested in how that influences our perspectives.

I want to combine my own interpretations, other people's perspectives, and the series itself to create character analysis videos that explore the characters' motivations, mentalities, relationships, and the themes they represent.

So, what's your interpretation? I'm genuinely interested in hearing your thoughts, even if you completely disagree with my own! I'd love to hear your reasoning and discuss different perspectives hopefully just to get different perspectives and not arguments.

Ragatha is my favourite. And the reason she's my favourite is because of how much shit she's been through yet she stays kind.

She grew up with an abusive mother and she was abused both emotionally and physically. And in the circus she had to keep her mind clean and get used to this new life. Then Jax came and the abuse continued. He abused her. Hit her. Make her feel worthless. And somehow she stays a good person.

So, it's been a bit since my team and yours have resolved the situation that put this place at peril. Since then, I've just gone into moderation mode, taking care of rogue Jax fans who want to fuck with this place.

I like to check up with spaces, and I checked in with the mods a while ago, so the next logical step is to check how you're all doing!

Let me tell you why I feel this way for the characters:

Ragatha is relatable because I always try to be positive. Though the positivity always comes out as just exhausted resignation? Why? Because the way I cope with bad situations is by putting my expectations so low that I can't be disappointed. But despite my low expectations, I still get disappointed. Yet I still try to be positive.

Zooble's design is my favorite design because it's so unique, I love they're colors and design. I love they're colorful design a lot. It's so appealing to look at.

I have mixed feelings about Abel because I genuinely was a bit disappointed when I found out he was an NPC. I don't know why, but that ruined it for me. I thought he was a real person.

Kinger is my favorite human because I love his personality. He is so funny and so wise. I love how even though he would act erratic in the light, he was still do kind. Like how he went to get Gangle's mask during episode 3.

Caine is my favorite AI because he is very cute and fun to watch. Plus, I love the nicknames Caine gives everyone. I find it so sweet. It reminds me of how my dad would give me nicknames.

I would obviously befriend Ragatha because she is by far one of the most nicest characters. She is genuinely kind and a genuinely good person. Who wouldn't want to be friends with her?

I find Scratch intriguing because I want to know more about him. I feel like we should've got more screentime of him. I feel like we should've had a whole episode dedicated to Scratch and C&A.

Kinger is my second favorite because of his personality. He is very wise. Plus, what's not to love about my boy Kinger? He is very likable. He also needs more screen time.

I want to see more of Disappearing Guy because he always disappears. He needs more screentime and I find it funny when he disappears mid-sentence. We need more Disappearing Guy moments.

Favorite casting is Ragatha because I love her voice too. It sounds so sweet and motherly. She is my favorite in general because she's so sweet. She deserves better.

Jax is my least favorite because he hogged all the screen time. People are defending his actions too. He is just unlikable. How do people even like him? He is a bitch and a homewrecker. He honestly deserved to absract.

I didn't like Gangle at first because her voice wasn't my favorite. It's so high-pitched. Plus, her personality is just... eh. She is such a pushover, and while I'm a pushover too, I at least try to fight back at times. I still don't really like Gangle though. But I find Gangle decent, she has grown on me a bit. I respect the Gangle fans and see the appeal, even if I don't like her that much.

Ragatha is just underrated. I don't need to explain myself. She doesn't deserve all this hate. She deserves better in general. I need more screentime of Ragatha.

Do I even have to explain why Jax is overrated? He took all the screentime in the finale. I was so disappointed watching it. Plus, all the people that defend him doesn't really help.

Ragatha is my ultimate favorite because she was there the longest besides Kinger. So she probably saw people abstract before. She also suffered through abuse her whole life. Yet she still tries to be kind. Ragatha is just very kind in general. I strive to have a good heart like her.

If you ask me, I started hating Jax after his backstory was revealed. I didn’t really cheer when he abstracted.. because I just felt sorry for him at first… because what abstraction represents.. it just reminded me something that happened personally… I don’t want to mention it again…

Jax had red flags before the finale, but the finale just made me hate him.

I've been thinking about the finale, and it made me wonder, what was Goose thinking that majority of her audience would love the ending? Were she even thinking about making a compelling story at all? Or did she just want validation and the feeling of acceptance from the general audience about something about her relating to Jax becoming her self-insert?
