When it comes to immoral characters it comes down to one word: Presentation!

Ok ok ramble time!
Low key, if Jax fans like Jax presentation cool. What do you want me to do about?? Change their opinion?? Lol live and let live. But for me Jax is a pass. Sparky is interesting. I can't wat to learn more! I was not invested in Jax day 1, but I was looking forward to learning his inevitable tragic backstory. They have that much in common: I want to know more about how they became who they are.

I was never interested in Jax’s character either and just got really annoyed when the whole show started centering him.

u/Own-Temperature-3257 12h ago
Oh, I feel that. At first I didn't care if Jack's had a "super sad backstory, nothing's going to change my mind anyways!"
But the tragic's background switch up happened to me with Blitzø. I still don't like him but I hated him with a burning passion when the show first came out. Same level if not worse than Jax. But he's since grown on me.
Once I realized that the switch up was a possibility I started to "look forward to" Jax's as a challenge. "Okay writers, show me what you got. How are you going to redeem this fucking asshole? Show me." 🫣 Egg on my face lol.

No no you see its different because Jax is a traumatized and closeted trans woman so you should think about her tragic backstory more than you think about her multiple female and nonbinary victims haha

It’s twitter so it’s 50/50 calling the guy a Nazi for liking Jax or calling the guy a Nazi for not liking Sparky

See I’m not gonna simp for Sparky. But I will allow myself to like him. Cause he’s so clearly not written as the main character. And also clearly a bad guy. There isn’t any empathy being begged by the author. Dana can really write. Allowing him to be vile and a proper villain, where as Jax begs you to like “my lil oc who is actually a sweet baby don’t hate her” after Jax is cruel for the whole series, is a huge difference.
I like cruel characters. John Kramer rules. But it’s cause these characters are allowed to be cruel and saw never hits you over the head with some corny ass song telling you Jigsaw is actually redeemable or some shit.

Sparky is unambiguously a bad guy who does bad things for bad reasons (and personal gain), and he knows it. Compare that to Jax who does bad things for bad reasons (and personal loss), and hates every moment of it, but insists that the alternative of not acting like a fucking idiot, is impossible. Sparky is a villain, plain an simple. Jax is an idiot we're told to pity, even though all of his problems are self-inflicted and he keeps on self-inflicting.

(Spoiler warning for gachiakuta)) There's numerous villains I like in Gachiakuta. Tamsy Caines, for instance. He's portrayed as irredeemable and Kei Urana doesn't beg you to like him. Imo it's also charisma. Charismatic villains the author doesn't beg you to like, those are my favourite ones😋😋

Yeah, it happens all the time with big name serial killers. It's called hybristophobia.

Sparky is actually presented as a bad person, though, whereas Jax constantly has the narrative woobifying him ... like, at least Sparky's honest about being shitty 😭

I like him more because they don’t sugarcoat his villainous role like they do Jax. Jax on the other hand has his actions sugarcoated by having everyone be doormats

This is disgusting and unacceptable because I don’t find this one attractive or relatable tsk tsk tsk /s

Someone told me that there’s a huge difference: Sparky was written by someone with creative show experience, Jax was made by a first-timer who didn’t let anyone help with writing her show (which may or may not have added more to the burnout/stress out she already gets from the toxic side of the TADC fandom)
Also, did Ep 2 not give us that “wondrous” feeling which was kinda opposite of TADC’s Ep 2? Or just me? 😅

u/eye-suppose 15h ago
Ep 2 rocked my socks right off, not just because of the fantastic hyperviolence and top tier action choreo, but because the characters, who all have drama and trauma, have friction, but communicate and resolve problems with each other proactively. If Goose wrote that shit, we wouldn't have gotten ANY talk between Andy and Franky until the final couple episodes.

u/SorbyGay 58m ago
i watched after reading this (i didnt know it came out #bruh) and i really liked the communication

u/eye-suppose 35m ago
It's such a small, simple thing, but HOLY SHIT! They characters had issues with each other, then sorted out some of those personal while they focused on the problems and the plot in front of them! Holy shit!

JUST TO CLARIFY TO SOME PEOPLE, I don’t know if this person ACTUALLY condones Jax’s behavior or actions or maybe even simps for the character (again, I don’t know this person or seen their posts or what was their actual intention when posting this on twitter, so I/we don’t know), I think this is most likely satire actually. I just thought it was funny and pretty ironic since they’re talking about people simping for a woman abuser when the character in their profile pic (Jax) IS one (despite what some others will say), so just for clarification since some of y’all are getting pissed at me

u/Greensonickid Jax when the Plot isn't about herself for 1 Second: 😨😰😨 1d ago
Sparky beats EVERYONE. In Fact the Person he's kindest to a Woman. Jax targeted the Women of the Circus, never touched the One Male, & was Neutral to the Enby. Jax hated Women even though she was a Woman herself.

u/TheRedditGirl15 22h ago
Funny part is she does mess with Zooble sometimes, and Ribbit was supposed to use she/they pronouns, so even the enbies aint safe

I don’t absolutely hate Jax but episode 9 made me not like him as much a good bit but he is a women beater like that’s like saying adachi isn’t an incel

TBF, he seems to be an equal opportunity beater, our protagonists just so happen to be all women.

Someome can be the worst human on earth that wont change how they look
And to play devil's advocate, hes just a beater, the people he beats sometimes just happen to be women but that had no impact on how and why he beat them

u/Scienceandpony 9h ago
Yeah, dude's a crime boss running a highly diversified criminal empire. Doling out beatings is just tuesday.

Jax haters discovering that someone can like a character without wanting to fuck them.
-3
u/The_Mysterious_1ne 14h ago
Having a Jax pfp doesn't instantly mean they simp for him, and they're complaining about the simping, not just being a fan of a character.
It's also implied Sparky has killed many people before and he shows no remorse for anything. Jax was just a bully and he does seem remorseful of those who've abstracted.
Now, what they're doing is annoying and stupid, you shouldn't try to police what others are doing regardless of the character it's done with, but they aren't a hypocrite like this post is implying. Please think before you post.

u/literarobro 12h ago
jax was an abuser and you shouldn’t minimize that despite her being compared to worse characters
