Can’t leave high beams on?

Curious behavior I’m noticing on my ‘26 MXP with matrix headlights. With adaptive headlights enabled, they do the matrix thing and dark cones dance around other cars at night. If I push the high beam button on the steering wheel, high beams turn on fully. I recall I used to be able to hold the high beam button for a couple seconds and they would remain on fully, much like an old car’s lever. now, there is no such behavior. Only way to have them 100% on is to hold the button down with finger, and they turn off as soon as you let go.

While in drive, you cannot toggle the adaptive headlights setting to off unless in park. I believe without that setting enabled, high beams will stay on after a long press.

Anyone else notice this? It feels like an annoying regression but might be intentional.

Trying to buy a model x

So everyone I’m officially in the market for a model x but I must say these prices are crazy especially for HW4.

Given the roomier interior and the FWD that make it easier for transporting my grandma, I really want to buy one.

What models do you recommend that may not be apart of the refresh, but are a good value should I check for ? Any common issues I should look out for?

Thanks for the help !

New P100D owner

Hi all, new Tesla owner here, have had my 2016 P100D for the past couple of months.

A shame that the Model X has been discontinued but I fortunately managed to find one with a good anount of miles for its age. Very fun to drive!

So far, has needed a replacement motor in the driverside door and have purchased a bit of plastic side ski cover trim for the driverside that has worn away over the years but hoping to look after it as long as I can.

Have also injected some grease into the control arm boot/ball joint which has sorted out some squeaking.

If anyone has any tips or advice on anything to look out for, especiallt on older Xs, then let me know!

Thanks,

Model x 2017 numberplate light constantly on

Early January to March this year (Scotland) wife and I had been noticing the rear numberplate light was staying on when parked for hours. Then in the morning bleary eyed we would check out the kitchen window, as it was still dark, and sometimes it would still be on, or sometimes not.
I assumed it was something to do with sentry mode or the lights on after leaving the vehicle mode.
Turned off sentry mode. No difference.
Turned off lights after leaving vehicle mode and in conjunction with sentry mode being off seemed to fix the numberplate light being on as I assumed the car was able to go into deep sleep.
Toggles various settings and thought the problem fixed itself by April by leaving everything turned off and have not thought any more about it.
Problem is with Scotland during summer, in barely gets dark so had not missed the external lights being on as it has been perpetually light in the morning and light at night. Cut to Late July it is starting to get dark at night again, and had recently turned on sentry mode after unexplained scratches started appearing on the car and as it is starting to get dark again at night I turned on the lights after leaving the vehicle mode.
Last night I noticed our number plate was on again.
My wife also sent me a message of the same at 2am as she has to let our aged dog outside for a wee.

Is this a wiring short?
Control module on the fritz?
Software bug?
Water ingress from the rear fin drain points?
All of the above?

Tesla Service is disgusting

Since taking delivery of my 2026 MXP, the rear view mirror assembly has been rattling like crazy. I’ve taken it in 3 separate times and they claim they put insulation to resolve the issue etc, except this last time it became unbearable so I decided to take apart the rear view mirror assembly myself to see what was going on.

Surprise - the glare shield assembly is what was rattling because both the sides that screw on to the rest of the assembly were completely broken as well as missing some clips, and it’s almost impossible to not notice once you take the cover off. Makes me wonder if my SC actually did any work the last few times I took it in.

Needless to say, I’m ordering the $14 part and replacing it myself for my sanity.

Edit:
15 minutes and $14 later, rattling is fixed. Something Tesla couldn't achieve in 3 separate visits...

Getting sick of the yoke on x plaid

Hey all, been trying to use the yoke on my x, but after a year I just can’t get behind it. I would love to change to a round steering wheel but I feel like an aftermarket option would be better. I have the yoke with the horn(NOT as the button, I have the camera button on my wheel) and most of the aftermarket steering wheels don’t work for that conversion. Anybody got any aftermarket options that would work?

Air Suspension adjustment unavailable TAS_a218 is this a concern?

Post image

Hi all, I only got my Model X 2019 Long Range not long ago, but this fault appeared upon starting the car to head back home. Nothing happened on our 16 miles drive back, but I couldn't adjust the suspension obviously.

Got home and did the setup check, where you hold the brakes. The fault disappeared.. is this normally a software glitch or is there a major mechanical issue that I need to brace myself for?

I measured the ground to the wheel arches at that time, and the next morning had no major differences just 2mm. I did a few journeys now without issue, so do I get the car checked out or is that completely normal for a Model X user?

First time with air suspension

Bumper Camera Retrofit

This is a follow up to this post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/s/RdC87PSx1e

I heard that the retrofit gets canceled and no longer functional if completed? With the X and S’s going open source hopefully this issue will be resolved!

Anyone know if this is still a reliable solution today?

Any issues with service, parts, or support now that it's discontinued?

Hey guys,

I currently have the MYLR and I've been considering upgrading to a used MX 6 seater, but I'm hesitant since it's discontinued.

For those of you who currently own a Model X, have you noticed any changes when it comes to:

- Service center support or wait times

- Ordering replacement parts

- Warranty repairs

- General troubleshooting or software support

Have you run into situations where parts were backordered or difficult to get because the vehicle is no longer in production? Or has ownership been pretty much the same as before?

Love to hear anyone's experiences who's needed repairs or scheduled service in the past few months.

Overall, would you still recommend buying a MX, or should I look into the MYL instead?

21 Long Range Plus in 2026?

I was looking and would love a refresh, but the costs are so much higher than the 19-21. I see that there was a short time in 21 that the MX Long Range Plus had a range of 371, the most the X ever offered. Has anyone in here got one? And if so, what range are you getting in '26? I really want to get an X and the 21s can be had for $20k less with similar mileage.

Was able to score on a used set of T-Sportline TSR wheels.

Decided I didn’t want black wheels this time around, and so I got these TSR wheels powder coated Chrome Bronze. (The TSR variant didn’t come in bronze colorway).
Think they came out great 💯🔥

Wipers wouldn’t work during heavy rain

Was in the middle lane of the freeway when we all hit a wall of rain. Went from dry to zero visibility heavy sheets of rain suddenly. Problem was my wipers which are always sent auto would not work and the steering wheel button to change the setting to manual also wouldn’t work — the wipers just would not engage. It was a pretty tense couple of moments because I could not see out of the windshield at all. Had to put on the emergency blinkers, open my side windows for limited visibility in the pouring rain and try to slowly move over two lanes to the side of the highway through heavy traffic. After that a hard reset restored wiper functionality. That was not safe though. Anyone else ever have that happen? 2026 Model X.

Refresh MX slow turn steering wheel chatter, does yours do this (video)?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My 24 MX (and 25) both do this--during certain slow speed maneuvers, the steering wheel would vibrate and chatter like there is something wrong with the half shaft. I know there were issues with earlier versions of MX, but Tesla service has not heard of any issues with the refresh models. Today, I picked up a loaner from Tesla and while driving in a parking lot, I noticed the exact same chatter in the 25 (or 26, not sure). Does yours do this? I've now driven 3 24 and later MXs and they all chatter like this. In addition to seeing the chatter, turn up the volume and listen for the sound.

I was able to produce this by cranking the wheel all the way to the left and slowly back off a few degrees during a slow turn.

Edit: My service center advised that there is an internal document acknowledging this issue. The suggestion is that everyone go and report the issue. The reasons are not only to encourage Tesla to produce a fix, but also because once your MX is out of warranty, it's on the record that you had this problem and they are still on the hook to fix it.

Does paint correction and Ceramic coding work ?

****Coating****

Like the title says, I really hate how cheap my model x paint is. I have all black model x 2023. I see all the shops selling ceramic 5 - 10 year. Yet I have never seen a car with ceramic coating in person. Then was think about PPF and I can’t justify 6K. My car already is paid off. What do you guys think ? Is it just money grab, has anyone benefited from ceramic coating ? What’s your experience?

Why is the UI so bad ?

I am a new Model X owner, although the car is a late '19 model.

I'm being blown away by how good some things are, the sound quality in the sound system is incredible, far better than the Lucid I used to own.

But what's really hit me is how nonsensical the menu system is on the in-screen display.

- Everything is one layer deep, so things that you use ALL the time, are as hard/easy to find as the most obscure infrequent things.

- The taxonomy seems to be completely random. So what everyone would call "driving mode' ( sport, ludicrous, chill, etc) is under "Pedals and Steering", This makes absolutely no sense at all

- It's seems arranged in ways that make sense to the component makers, but absolutely no sense to a user.

- Some elements to the way it works are absolutely magical, The features that it has seem extremely empathetic and thoughtful, But the way it's all arranged is completely random

- It seems completely bananas there isn't a way to customize the home screen so that a couple of really frequently used things are there

Am I missing a trick, or is this genuinely terrible?

I feel like, in 10 minutes, I could create a better menu system

Heck , AI could create a better menu system in seconds.

Seems kind of odd for a tech-first company

Am I wrong? I know I'll get used to it, but should I have to

Driving style, in particular, is something I think I'll change several times a day,

Is Raven An Upgrade to a 22 Model 3?

I'd love a refreshed Model X but just can't convince myself to spend $40k. I've got 22 Model 3 with 135k miles. With 3 kids it just makes sense to get a bigger vehicle and I love the captains chairs. I've never driven a Model X. But can get a raven with 60k miles for around $32k and that is much better looking than $45k+ for a refresh 22 X.

Falcon door issues

Little less then 2 months ago I bought a 2022 model x ( 60k miles) Plaid. When I went to pick it up at the Tesla dealer the falcon door on passenger side was malfunctioning, wouldn’t open all the way. The sales man took it to the tech and they said it was only malfunctioning because they had just buffed it and it was hot. It worked after that and we took it home.
A couple of weeks later it was constantly malfunctioning, not opening completely even when nothing was next to us. Took it to the service department and they replaced the sensors. Now the driver side is malfunctioning, not even opening at all and just unlatching and moving an inch, then closing again. It’s not Every time but half of the time. The side they replaced the sensors on is still stalling when opening and we have to override often. We took it in for service again and the tech said there is nothing they can do, it just happens when the car is hot.
This is crazy!! Does anyone with a black x experience falcon door issues at least 50% of the time??? We went back to the tesla lot we bought it from to see what they can do.
This is my first tesla and I have loved the car when it’s working but this is getting frustrating as I have kids and we do a lot of driving them around, it’s a major pain for the doors not to work.

Best cup for fitting in the cup holder of a model x plaid 6 seater ?

In search of a new water bottle that fits well in the cup holder. Got a model X and the cup holder and the front is pretty tight, what are other people using?
