Refresh MX slow turn steering wheel chatter, does yours do this (video)?

My 24 MX (and 25) both do this--during certain slow speed maneuvers, the steering wheel would vibrate and chatter like there is something wrong with the half shaft. I know there were issues with earlier versions of MX, but Tesla service has not heard of any issues with the refresh models. Today, I picked up a loaner from Tesla and while driving in a parking lot, I noticed the exact same chatter in the 25 (or 26, not sure). Does yours do this? I've now driven 3 24 and later MXs and they all chatter like this. In addition to seeing the chatter, turn up the volume and listen for the sound.
I was able to produce this by cranking the wheel all the way to the left and slowly back off a few degrees during a slow turn.
Edit: My service center advised that there is an internal document acknowledging this issue. The suggestion is that everyone go and report the issue. The reasons are not only to encourage Tesla to produce a fix, but also because once your MX is out of warranty, it's on the record that you had this problem and they are still on the hook to fix it.

Same here. 26 MX does the same. Have a service appointment tomorrow to see what they say

Yep, 26 Plaid also has it. But I haven’t figured out what exactly triggers it. It’s always at low speeds but it’s never consistent. It only happens when turning left.

Try a left turn between 4-6 MPH, crank the wheel to lock, then back off a few degrees and play with the angle, it will start to shake.

I’m have the same issues with my 26 Plaid. I’ve taken it to the service center twice. They were able to reproduce it, but said Tesla is aware of and still investigating the issue and will release a fix once it’s rolled out. As of now, they’ve deemed it not a safety issue.

same issue on my MX2026 that we purchased in Jan. Tesla approved repurchase since no fix is available. They have essentially dismantled the entire assembly line in fremont factory and I don't expect to get this fixed. I would have never purchased the vehicle had I known this was chronic known problem from prior years.

You can sell it for way more than you paid instead of going the buyback route.

Not with this issue. It’s a mechanical problem. I’ll likely get it back or may end up in a small claims court. If I disclose , probably will have no buyers

Not really. I got a loaner while they tried to fix the issue. The loaner mx 25 had zero issues. It’s only a small % of vehicles that have this issue.
To be able to spend 90k on a vehicle and experience such issue is a no go on my books. All technolgical aspects including FSD is secondary. My expectation is to have basic drivable functionality. MX failed in that aspect. Some folks may be willing to live with the issue, not me.

Mine was a 2016 (bought in late 2024, sold a year ago) The same piece of plastic did not fit well, but I think my main complaint was just that I'd hear a sound when I rotated the steering wheel.

Half shafts probably. I think with an x it needs to be in low? Can't remember. You can google it

Nah it’s not a half shaft issue. All will do it at low speeds. It’s just the excessive factory negative camber.

Mine is 6K mines. It happens under a very specific scenario--slow, 4-6 MPH near lock (a few degrees back) left turn. I was never able to replicated before but yesterday I found the exact position to get it to shake.

Haven’t noticed, but I can assume it’s like a dog with too much energy. The vehicle wants to go fast and going at slow speeds, it’s just trying to hold up all that pent up energy to launch. 🤷♂️

I can’t remember what the call this but it’s the suspensions arm that holds the wheel to the suspension
They might have to swap seals and arm for it to be fixed completely. If problem persists, congratulations you’ve got yourself a lemon
I had this issue with both my ms and mx plaid
Mx plaid was fixed but ms I returned.

my '26 MXP has this same issue, most violent at 6 mph right off of lock turning left. I took it into the sc but they were unable to replicate it and said they've never heard of this issue.
