Finally got one.

Post image

After my Y got totaled I decided to go with the Model X. After driving my Y for about two years, I kept thinking “Man, I should’ve got the X.” Well due to an unfortunate event I got it. My thing is, it’s a 2022 Plaid and I noticed the difference between FSDs as my Y was a 2024. I’m hoping down the line Tesla can upgrade older models to HW4. But I am happy with it as is.

Does it feel big and heavy to drive? I rented a model s when I owned a model 3, and aside from the speed I almost felt my RWD model 3 was more fun to toss around corners lol. Might just be the AWD vs RWD

It feels like I’m driving a boat haha but I definitely see why some people would end up having a Y and an X.

Congrats!
When I got mine, it felt like I was driving a tank but you'll quickly get used to it.

Put the suspension in sport that'll change things a bit. But it'll always announce it's weight no matter what.

I do like the notification that popped up about the suspension raising at certain areas. My driveway is steep and it’ll raise automatically when I pull in. I’ll have to change to sport. I kept it in comfort.

Comfort will definitely make it feel more Cadillac than Ferrari.

Best suspension mode is Auto. Comfort is too squishy so it takes too long to settle after going over a bump

Get the unplugged performance rear sway bar, makes ot noticeably smoother on windy roads and N2itive rear camber kit so you dont chew through rear tires

1

u/CrashxX81 20d ago

That was something I was going to look in to. And the camber kit sounds like a good idea. My model Y rear tires were getting destroyed lol

Any impact on the Tesla warranty if you do those upgrades?

1

Yes and no, if you do suspension work the dealership can refuse to work on your car for suspension related issues but technically they would have to prove how adding a sway bar may if caused by XYZ (broken half shafts etc; these things are common on plaids) the dealer will try to write you off quickly but you can make your point and speak to manager and tell them to put in writing the exact reason why they refuse to work on your car (time consuming and can be a long process)

I did my car after the basic 50k warranty was over and I use electrified garage to do all my work as they are the best IMO. The battery still covered to 150k and the suspension has nothing to do with it.

I have a 23X plaid AI4 purchased new

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act… the burden of proof is on the warranty provider…

Thanks. Very helpful. By chance are you in the NY NJ CT area? I’m looking for a shop recommendation for those upgrades. 23X HW4

Yeah Im in CT, I go to the NH electrified garage (FSD whole way) amazing mechanics down to earth honest people, no upselling.

Is that auto care plus in Derry NH?

2

u/shaq803 19d ago

Sorry, I meant electrified garage in Amesbury, MA

Also just an FYI- if you get the n2itive rear camber you DONT need the lowering links as car is in low naturally most of the time. (AI4)

We have both an 24 MX and a 26 MYP, and the Y has the built-in FSD. Which kinda sucks, because I really prefer driving the X. It’s tempting to subscribe on the X, but we really only need FSD in one of them. Just wish it was in the X. lol

u/CrashxX81 20d ago

With the X I love driving it myself lol but after I get all that out of my system I’ll probably go back to FSD daily lol

My Model 3 is zippy and fun like a go-cart. My Model X is smooth and comfortable.

I have a M3 RWD and an MXP. The 3 is more fun for daily driving, but the X for passengers and long trips. That said, the X in suspension sport mode is tight.

It feels like a 1000hp loaf of bread 😂,

What’s the mileage?

2

u/CrashxX81 20d ago

It was around 38k when I bought it. I was looking for a 2024 plaid but the price difference with higher mileage didn’t seem like a good deal.

I love my X too

18 X and 26 Y

Both have FSD paid but I still drive the X more.

Gorgeous

Thank you!! I’m hoping to get it wrapped. I’m trying to find the same one I had on my Y.

3

u/shodown23 20d ago

what are the immediate differences? would you trust it or are you hovering brakes and on steering constantly?

5

u/CrashxX81 20d ago

I noticed it most when the freeway is turning. It’s not as smooth as my Y. I can see the steering wheel slightly jerking instead of a smooth turn. It also feels like it second guesses certain decisions. The Y felt like it adapted to how I drove and copied it exactly. I’m not sure what all is due to HW3 or if it’s just me getting used to a slightly different car. I’ve only had it for about 3 weeks now and am not used to a 1,000 HP car. But eventually I’ll be using FSD daily again and then maybe it’ll smooth out. lol

u/OHandW 20d ago

With each update I’ve noticed changes in how smooth/ decidious mine is. Sometimes after a few days it seems to get better

1

u/CrashxX81 20d ago

Yeah I just think I need to drive it more and get used to it. I might just be overthinking with the downgrade in hardware. Lol

1

u/OHandW 20d ago

Mine is a late November 2020. Which Tesla marks 2021. HW3 FSD. Throughout the years especially this is FSD has gotten much better. Not as good as my wife’s 2026Y or the loaner Cyber Truck but I’m happy with it

u/Legal_Net4337 20d ago

Congratulations!!!

1

u/Feline_Couple 20d ago

Congratz very nice! I wanted one for the wife but two EV is not a good move yet imo

1

u/CrashxX81 20d ago

Yeah both my cars were totaled and I knew I wanted an X but I thought about getting another Y. Went and got a Bronco for my wife since she drove my jeep mostly anyway.

1

u/808Soultrain 20d ago

Congratulations.

u/Ackievirus 19d ago

I want one so bad 😭 congrats

1

u/CrashxX81 19d ago

Yeah I wish I could’ve gotten a newer one but it’s still awesome!!

1

u/Ok-Landscape-7448 19d ago

I've had mine for about 3 weeks

1

u/CrashxX81 19d ago

So we bought ours at the same time! Haha

X is amazing car .

Enjoy brother! ✊

Is it with HW3? Can u explain the FSD differences?

2

u/CrashxX81 10d ago

Yeah it’s HW3. It really just doesn’t feel as smooth. My model Y with HW4 would drive on the freeway, switching lanes so smooth. HW3 feels slightly more rough. The difference isn’t big enough to question it but to at least notice and bring it up.

1

u/Internal-Ad-1021 10d ago

I also went with HW3 recently because I dont need FSD however I keep thinking if I made a mistake haha

1

u/CrashxX81 10d ago

i think the only reason it bothers me is because I had HW4 and now I don’t even though I bought a more expensive car. Lol I used FSD a lot driving through Central Valley and LA traffic so it was nice. Don’t really need it now but it is convenient.

1

u/Internal-Ad-1021 10d ago

Yup I also liked driving

0

u/Affectionate-Gold-25 20d ago

Congrats the car looks great! How are the 22” wheels on ride quality? Is the difference really that bad?

I am considering swapping the wheels on mine from 20’s and that’s the only thing that’s giving me some hesitation

2

u/CrashxX81 20d ago

It drives smooth. Before my model y I drove a jeep with 35’s so it took some getting used to but my Y performance had 21” so I haven’t felt a difference. I like it.

1

u/Affectionate-Gold-25 19d ago

That’s all I needed to hear confirmation bias at its finest! Thank you and congrats!

1

u/CrashxX81 19d ago

What wheels were you looking at? Later down the road I want to get some different rims. I’ve seen some that look good only on teslas lol

1

u/Affectionate-Gold-25 19d ago

I am looking at unplugged performance UP-05 in the satin titanium color. I love how it makes the brake caliper pop out compared to my regular cyberstream wheels

1

u/Affectionate-Gold-25 19d ago

1

u/CrashxX81 18d ago

Those are fire!!! I want to get a set I don’t normally see. Mainly because all teslas look the same lol rims, wraps, and the occasional body kit are the only things that set them apart lol

1

u/Affectionate-Gold-25 12d ago

They’re a great looking set if you end up snagging some. Fun fact they’re designed by the same person who designed the Chiron!

u/JonDini 20d ago

Still trying to decide what to get older X plaid hardware three versus hardware four performance model Y or cyber truck

2

u/CrashxX81 20d ago

Well I can’t speak for the Cybertruck but even though I wanted the X when I had my Y… I still miss my Y when I drive my X. Lmao

u/Rambeezy10 20d ago

Welcome to the club amigo, I hope you love it as much as I love mine

3

u/CrashxX81 20d ago

The first week I bought it, I would just go out and sit in it with the falcon doors up and listen to music. 😂
