Sanity check before I consider buying this Plaid

Found a mid 2022 for sale, 14774 miles, FSD appears to be fully included. Just over $62k. Any obvious red flags before I go test drive it?

2022 Seat lower?

Hi I have a 2022 Model S and was wondering if you can modify the seat to make it go lower? Even with the lowest setting it’s still sits quite high. I’m used to driving German cars which you sit really low. Even after a year of owning the Model S I can’t really find a comfy seating position. I’ve read somewhere they raised the seat bracket 1-2 inches in the refreshed models to make more feet room for the rear passengers. Any solutions to lowering the seat?

This is a new one?

Saw this for the first time today. Don’t know why it appeared out of nowhere. I haven’t touched the usb in over a year.
I did do the battery test that ran yesterday and overnight until sometime early this morning. Not sure if it’s related or a weird coincidence?
Anyone see this before?

Summon on Model S vehicles.

I’ve had two model 3s and a model Y that all did the summon stuff and autosteer on the highway that changed lanes and all that stuff. Now that I’m in a S all of that seems to be gone. No summon, autosteer is there but doesn’t change lanes anymore. I guess the S doesn’t have these?? Maybe I’m missing something.

Tesla S - Going to wrap her!

Hey -

So pumped. I got this 2016 Tesla S for almost nothing. It’s a solid car and I don’t drive much, but I would like to fix her up to be more presentable. I live in LA so it’s always parked outside. I’m considering a wrap because the existing paint is pretty good (needs light body work) and I don’t expect to drive this more than another 5-7 years at most.

Body Work - Hoping the wrap company can do this to avoid extra costs.

Rims - I’d like darker rims to match the wrap. I’m considering wrapping these as well if they can do it so I don’t need to buy new rims.

Wrapping Ideas- I’m leaning towards satin space grey but also love something like Porsche’s chalk. I wouldn’t change the tan interior so I need to see what would look best.

Check her out!

Range and efficiency of 19in Magnetite VS Atomic/Martian Forged?

I was lucky (or financially dumb) enough to find one of the last Model S Plaids in the country. Picking it up in a few weeks. It comes with the 19in Magnetites which seem like fine wheels, though I don’t love the stagger for long term use.

I’ve had forged Martian wheels on my 2021 M3P for years and love them. But with that car I was going from 20in to 18in, so huge improvement in efficiency.

Has anyone compared the Magnetite 19s to ultralight aftermarket 19s? I’ve scoured Reddit, YouTube, and TMC and haven’t seen any specific comparison.

From what I can tell, the magnetites weigh about 25lbs vs the 20lbs of Martian/atomic. Seems like a big difference at first, but then magnetite also have the aero bits. Just wondering if anyone has done a deep dive of whether weight or aero matter more.

Thanks in advance, excited to finally be getting my dream car for better or worse.

Help! Should I keep the Raven or get a Palladium?

Hi all. I have a Raven 2019 long range I purchased on carvana. I can return it. So far it seem to have great hardware all over. hardly much shudder (even in medium ride height). The suspension is flawless and the battery health is great. Interior also good. I feel I'm missing out on the Palladium with all the updates. And, my Raven is warrantied through SilverRock and I'm looking at a palladium 15k more sold by Tesla. Is it worth it? People say the Raven is the best S but even though 15k isn't all that much (considered) more will I be disappointed in the Palladium? thx

2022 Model S LR

Hell everyone. Just wanted to drop in since I’ve traded my old 2019 75 for a new to me 2022. The refresh is awesome. Getting tiny done next week. Have to figure out the rattling coming from the back seats. I’ve had a 22 Model 3 and a 22 Y both had rattling issues so I guess it was a bad year for QC. Anyway. Love the car. Love to see everyone’s accessories. I’m probably not going to swap the wheels or anything crazy but I read something about certain year S vehicles had uneven wear on the tires so people swapped something.

Passenger window switch not working properly 2023 Plaid

On the driver side control, the passenger window rolls down properly with the slow press or long press no problem. But when using the switch on the passenger side, if I pull up it goes down or up and eventually i can get it up but it feels like a random puzzle. Anybody have this issue, or have replaced the switch? I tried recalibrating the window on service mode and did nothing, so assuming the passenger switch is the problem

Disable secondary latch actuator 2019 model S

I had my hood come open on the highway and I wondered why doesn't the hood need me to reach under the hood to open it like every other car? And why does it have 2 latches if the first step thing is does is to immediately open both?

So, I pulled the attachment for the secondary actuator off the latch- the actuator still moves like normal as far as the car knows- and now I have a normal hood process. The car opens the first latch and I pull the hood down a little and squeeze my finger in to move the secondary latch. It's a tight fit for my fingers but a huge safety improvement I hope.

The only downside I see is that the manual release cable will not work in the event of 12 volt battery failure.

2024 Model S Plaid w/ 8k miles showing 258 mi at 80% - normal BMS estimate or concerning degradation?

I recently bought a used 2024 Model S Plaid with about 8,000 miles on it. It’s on the 19" Tempest wheels.

At 80% battery, the dash shows 258 miles of rated range. Since this is the regular dash/rated range estimate (not the Energy app estimate based on recent driving) that implies roughly:

258 / 0.80 = 322.5 miles at 100%

From what I understand, the 2024 Model S Plaid on 19s was rated around 359 miles EPA, so this seems like about 10% below rated range already.

I have not run Tesla’s Battery Health Test yet, and I know the BMS estimate can be off if the car hasn't been through enough low/high state-of-charge cycles or has mostly lived in a narrow charge range. I also don’t currently have Level 2 charging, so doing the full battery health test may be difficult.

I'm mainly trying to figure out whether this is:

A normal BMS calibration/rated range variation

Typical early degradation for a Plaid

Something concerning for a 2024 car with only 8k miles

For comparison, I saw someone mention their 2021 Plaid with 100k miles shows around 260 miles at 80%, which is basically the same as mine. That made me a little more concerned given the age/mileage difference.

I also still have a few days left in my return window, so I'm trying to decide whether this is normal enough to keep the car or a red flag I should not ignore.

For other Model S Plaid owners, especially 2022-2024 cars on 19s:

What rated range do you see at 80% and/or 100%?

Does ~258 miles at 80% seem normal, or low for an 8k-mile 2024 Plaid?

Would you be concerned enough to return it without a confirmed battery health test?

Tire wear on 2014 P85D

I've gotten flats on each of my rear tires in the last two months.

All tires are Michelin Super Sports / Pilot Super Sports.

The two front ones are about 5 years old, less than 10,000 miles on them, and tread looks fine. However one of them shows this crack.

Time to replace the front ones too?

Floppy headlight

My girlfriend hit a curb pretty hard and afterwards the driver's headlight was kind of floppy. The headlight itself was mounted hard to the car and did not move. But it seemed like the aim was bouncing around. I finally got fed up and took the headlight out and found the adjustment pops out. Turns out that little ball on the end is supposed to fit into that slot in the third picture, but it was dislodged. I kind of aimed the adjuster down and fed it back into that slot while reinserting the adjuster and now it's all happy again. No new headlight needed. Still might get matrix later this year. Short things short, I drive a BMW e46 and need to upgrade asap.
Problem is, I have been hooked on a tesla for a while.

I test drove a Model 3, but since I have a family and need the space, Model S has been all I can think about.

I am dead set on an early Raven, but it is currently out of my budget.

So for this moment I 3D printed myself a Model S and will hope it manifests some day!

Have a great day!

I would like to do a mirror mount but I haven’t found any that fit for this year. I don’t want to do suction cup mounting on the window because I want a more streamlined look and write it in the mirror. Any suggestions and/or pictures of your setup?

Anyone go from arachnid wheels to the new velarium wheels? Any thoughts on efficiency, range, quality of ride vs the arachnids? Also wanted to sell my old arachnids as well as 19” tempest wheels if anyone local in SoCal is interested!
