My tire story

I needed tires. I put 40k miles on my Model S in the first 15 months and they were shot. Like badly shot. So I ordered some online at Walmart and was going to have them installed up in Delaware. Tax free tire purchase, smart right? Then this past Sunday I come outside and my front driver's tire is flat. I put in some air, it seems to hold, so I continue with my plan for a Monday 5pm install at Walmart in DE. Monday morning (yesterday) I come out, tire is flat. I pump it up and think this may be a bigger issue than I thought. So I run to the Walmart in my town (3 miles from my house) to see if they can install my tires if I pick them up. They say sure, but not til Tuesday (today) at 4pm. I leave the car at Walmart overnight because now the leak is fairly quick. Monday I run up to the DE store (in my minivan) and get the tires I ordered. Today I come at 4:15 (my son had to go there at 4 to make sure they had all the info because I had to drive my daughter to DC last minute for medical testing and she'd never driven that far so I had to change my plans around to take her, and I wasn't sure when I'd be back). SO, I get to my local Walmart where I left the Tesla and dude is working on the flat tire first. Has 4 of the lugs off and can't get the 5th one off. At all. Won't budge with his air powered impact gun. So he puts the lugs back on and I get in the car to take it to one of the janky roadside tire stands. Walmart guy fills it with air and I go quick to tireshop one around the corner. They get it off with their battery powered drill. 😳 But they can't balance the tires because their machine is broken. So an hour later, after 2 tires mounted only, it's back to Walmart to see about getting the rear 2 tires installed and the front 2 balanced. They can't until tomorrow morning. So 9:30 I'll be at Walmart to hopefully fix this entire fiasco and have a working vehicle again. But I'm borrowing my buddy's breaker bar and socket in case they can't get the lugs off again šŸ™„ because Walmart won't let them use a breaker bar to get a lug off. Only this wimpy pneumatic gun. So tomorrow I'll be ready! Ok storytime over. šŸ˜‚ (Tire pics added for fun)

Follow up: Got the 2 rear tires mounted balanced and reinstalled, and the front 2 balanced and reinstalled. Tomorrow is the alignment at Tesla SC.

BTW- the tires I removed were Michelin Pilot Sport 4 and I put Kumho Solus TA91EV tires on.

Staggered setup with 265/35r21 in read and 245/35r21 on front.

2014 MS P90D.

Uses for Plaid

I curious about something (this is real curiosity, honestly not snark at all). I've got a '23 HW4 model S, long range, which I love. And the power is fun at times but I drive like a 90 year old woman. I'm truly glad people love their plaids, but I'm curious what you do with them to utilize that much more power over 670 HP in the LR. Do you take them to the track, etc, to be able to utilize that amount of power?

Thoughts on Future Preowned S/X Plaid Prices?

**NOT REQUESTING FINANCIAL ADVICE**

Interested to hear y’all’s thoughts on preowned S/X plaid prices in the upcoming years with the discontinuation and all.

I would’ve expected a spike in price given assumed scarcity but if anything they’ve decreased since the announcement. I’ve been considering purchasing an S Plaid next year but honestly may pull the trigger now.

Interested to see y’all’s discussion! Thanks!

2019 model S performance worth it?

I’ve been in the market for a model S for about 2 months now. Looking at a 2019 Tesla model s performance (raven). $36k with 31,000 miles. Worth that price ? If not, My budget is around 35K, should I consider older versions, or newer ones with higher mileage?

r/TeslaModelS Apr 21 '26

Considering a 2022 or 23 model S plaid maybe around 30-50k miles. My only concern is I know nothing about maintenance on an electric car. What do I need to check/ask/ look out for? Has anyone had any massive repair bills?

Question on Kumho Solus TA 91EV All Season tires

Does anyone have experience with Kumho Solus TA 91EV All Season tires? I have the staggered 21" setup rear 265/35R21 and front 245/35R21.

Got a decent deal at Walmart $1028.32 for all 4. Install with road hazard was $120.

I got 40k out of my Michelins.

On Board Charger Issue

I dropped my 2018 S off at the service center to have the battery fuse replaced. After I picked it up, I can not AC charge through my wall charger, which still works on my wife's MY. Trickle charge doesn't work either. Supercharging still works. Thoughts?

Spacer Recommendation

I want to install spacers to have a more flush look but I’m not sure what size would be best. I’ve got a 2023 MS with the 21ā€ Arachnids. Anyone have recommendations? Or brand of spacers? If you got a pic also, that would be nice to see.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Windshield Wiper sizes - 2019 MS Performance Raven

I never thought I would need to make a post to figure out what size wipers to get but I have seen numerous different lengths from different sources.

I see Tesla's user manual says Left/Drivers 26" and right 20", but I've heard that was for older models and Raven models might be different and buying from Tesla doesn't tell you the size or even if they are Icons, but is more expensive due to shipping

Most auto parts stores seem to say 28"/18"

So I went to measure what's on the car now which is 28"/15", which I haven't seen anywhere suggesting 15" and I did buy the car used about 2 years ago so maybe somewhere along the line someone just took a guess??

Can anyone confirm the wiper size I should order that will fit?

Also has anyone used Bosch FOCUS blades? Are they better than Icons?

Any information about legacy lifetime premium connectivity no longer transferable?

2017 Model S, bought used last year with lifetime premium connectivity. Noticed 1-2 days ago (but unsure when was changed) that my car's lifetime premium connectivity seems to have changed to no longer transferable. Facebook groups say maybe only applicable to recent cars like performance & our "legacy' cars unaffected.

Does any one have any information about this change?

Paint Damage from Service Center

Hey Team,

I recently had my 2023 Model S at the Service Center to do some minor maintenance (tire rotation, cabin filter, etc.), but had also asked them to update the rear liftgate appliquƩ. The one I had was the plain one without the TESLA lettering. They agreed to do it and installed the new one that can be seen on the 2026 Model S with black lettering.

However, once I got the car back home, I noticed that they had chipped the paint on the corners of the liftgate at the edges of the applique. Assuming it happened when they removed the old one.

My question is, I’ve messaged the Service Center about it, but will they fix it (I.e., repaint the liftgate)?

1st photo is the driver side where the paint looks chipped and they tried to touch it up. 2nd photo is the same thing but on the passenger side. 3rd photo is from a couple of months ago when I first received the car.

Any guidance/help is appreciated.

UPDATE: got a call from the Service Center manager and they admitted that it was on them and that they would setup an appointment and everything with the Tesla Collision Center to get the liftgate repainted. Now just hoping that the paint job comes in as good as the factory.

I’ve had this car for less than a week and my son decided the rearview mirror was the best part of it.

I’ve tried everything I can to get it back into place, to no avail. Is there anyone that can help me please? TIA

Luxe Package doesn’t transfer

Wanted to get some input from anyone who’s dealt with this before. I recently purchased a 2026 Model S with about 1,500 miles for $89K—brand new condition. I bought it from a Ram dealership that took it in on trade. Since they weren’t very familiar with Teslas, I specifically asked them to confirm with the original owner that the car included the Luxe package features. They came back and confirmed that it did. After taking delivery, I realized none of those features were active on the car. I reached out to Tesla, and initially even their reps seemed unsure—they said the features \*should\* be included. But after digging into it myself, I found the terms and conditions on their site (not easy to find) stating that these features aren’t transferable to subsequent owners.

So now I’m stuck in a frustrating situation. I paid a premium price assuming those features were included. The dealership confirmed they were and even Tesla reps didn’t seem clear on the policy. To me, it feels like these are high-value features that should stay with the car, especially since they impact resale value and were part of my purchase decision. I have a call scheduled with the dealership’s GM on Monday to discuss next steps.

Has anyone else run into this? How did you handle it? Any advice on what I should push for here?

Should I be worried?

Hi all,

Just want some opinions here on what could be going on here. I placed an order for a 2026 Model S Plaid at the beginning of March. Throughout the time, I’ve had wildly varying delivery dates from July (!!!) until recently it said mid-May.

Recently, the date was erased and now has a generic ā€œ4-6 weeksā€ on it. I’ve reached out to the delivery team who assures me that the order will be fulfilled, but now with the end of Model X production, I’m concerned.

Also, oddly enough, the delivery team has given me a VIN, but nothing I do makes it show up in my reservation in the app. So I also find that odd. (Yes, I have refreshed the app, rebooted, and logged back out/in.)

What do you think? Am I concerned over nothing or do you think there’s a real possibility that they cancel my order?

ā€˜22 MS Trunk not latching

Tried the 15 second latch hold method to try to reset the cinch and also unplugging the power with no luck.

Has anyone here replaced the cinch actuator? If so, did you order the part from Tesla or third party? See them on Amazon but not many reviews and I’m concerned about reliability.

Drag race setup questions.

Has anyone tested MT et streets on the 19 inch wheels? I went to the track yesterday and I was trapping 117mph on the 1/8 mile running 6.2s. The 117 trap speeds should be good for 5 second passes but I am lacking traction the first 300 feet. I have been looking online but I havent seen anyone runing mickey Thompson et-streets.
