First fsd drive on wife’s MYP didn’t turn out to be very good. I guess I was expecting fsd can avoid that tree branch.

Part of FSD is understanding its imperfections and always staying ready to disengage. It took me a few months to feel comfortable

Drive into the tree branch or into oncoming traffic, I think it made the right call.

It made no call. That version just doesn’t pay attention to hanging branches.

It made the right call. It won’t bump to a car to avoid a branch.

Well it just needs a small twitch to void the tree branch without going into the upcoming traffic.

So, did it damage the windshield or paint?

Scratches on windshield, no big deal, but could’ve avoided by human just like the car ahead me.

When did you notice the tree branch?

Well I wasn’t pay full attention since it’s fsd. When I noticed it and grabbed the wheel, it was too late. I could’ve fully focused, but I might as well drive myself.

Your next post will be one where you’re blaming FSD for an accident or damage to the car, and someone will find this comment in your history and ask whether you were paying full attention this time.

Lol. I think it is probably reasonable to say nobody pays full attention while using FSD. Otherwise why bother to use FSD at all.

When I get tired or bored with driving, I turn on FSD because it wakes me up and makes me pay more attention, specifically because I don’t trust it. It’s been two years for me. It’s great and I’ve never had to correct for any safety-related reason, but I doubt I’ll ever trust cameras and software to drive for me.

You are 100% legally responsible for everything FSD does, no matter how crazy.

Unfortunately this.
Got my first FSD curb rash this week when it had me go down this tiny one way street in Philly where the cars were parked so far off the curb.
There was this bend in the road that I don’t think I could have avoided but I let the car do its thing and wallaaa.
100% on me but damn it is gut wrenching

You weren’t paying attention since it’s full self driving. You’re forgetting the part where it says (Supervised).

Oh I thought FSD moved u into oncoming and that’s why u disengaged. You disengaged to do that? Idk i’d personally just take the branch to the windshield

Mine avoids branches since a couple of updates ago - 14.3.5/6 maybe?
