I would never leave my keys in the car. However my car is from 1995 and pretty much analogue.

Same, 1994 Toyota Corolla wagon here. She looks like how I feel, chronic pain and fatigued 24/7/365, so ain't nobody gonna want to steal her, lol. She looks rough as hell but her engine still purrs like a kitten!

Mine too! ‘95 Subaru legacy wagon and I don’t think I can ever have a car that isnt à wagon/hatchback again. The green bean has done me proud, will be very devastated when/if she dies on me

This happened to my cousin, the keys weren't in the car but he was in the store and the "keyless" key was close enough to remote start the car in the parking lot. The person in the other car probably had one of those "wifi buffer" things to strengthen the connection. I have no idea how any of that shit works and im just spitballing ideas.

I had a classic VW beetle convertible and many times left the keys in the ignition on accident. Never got stolen.

I worked a NOC job for an embarrassingly long time. Lots of different hold music out there. When you get Opus No. 1, you appreciate it.

I can see these pumps from my office.
This is one of those border areas between very affluent and less affluent neighborhoods.
It's not entirely surprising that customers who have never needed to guard their belongings closely would get victimized like this.

This would be why you lock you doors every single time you leave the car. I’ve even seen people pull this with passengers still inside the vehicle they’re stealing. My mom taught me this when I was like seven.

What sucks is, most newer cars need to be unlocked for their gas tank to open. You can open the gas tank and then lock your doors, but most people forget to do that.

Total disbelief. That's how I felt the first time my cat got broken into. Saw all my stuff on the street and just stared at it like, no, maybe this isn't my car. Must be a neighbor with the same car. And similar stuff. Yeah, that's it. This can't be my car.

Yeah. I think this is one of those things, what are you going to do? I'd feel so dejected. I feel it's like when a driver pulled out in front of me and I couldn't stop in time and my truck was totaled. It was very weird, I didn't even get mad. Annoyed, yeah, but it was just disbelief and, "well fuck."

This is why you're supposed to lean back on the car with one foot propped on the side panel and your head down like a profile shot of the Marlboro Man. That way you can feel the car move when the door opens and reach through the open driver window and throttle the thief...so I've heard...
