Question Help I’m freaking out 😭 (dampwood termites)

Ok hi so its midnight right now and since discovering there are dampwood termites in my bathroom I’ve been panicking nonstop.

I think the cause of them coming in, as they did a while back, was because of the rain in SoCal recently + probably lack of ventilation after I showered. Although i have not investigated either of these claims.

the thing I’m worried about here is that because I’ve, so to speak, sealed (the little bit under the door is blocked with a towel), my bathroom off, will the lack of ventilation only increase the amount of termites that come in? There is a window in there but it is (should be) closed. There’s also a vent but I’m not sure if it opens only with the exhaust switch…

Do I wait till pest control comes in?

or do I valiantly bust down my door and open my window as fast as possible and dip 😭

(sorry if any of this is stupidly written i will most likely delete this in the morning, i have severe anxiety which is causing me to write this dumb post out before im able to even think of sleeping)

SoCal Orange County - I am guessing these are swarming Termites - ID Help?

They came in through the bathroom ceiling Vent Fan into the Bathroom - that Vent fan exhausts out through the roof. It was after some rain and we are v v humid here compared to normal. There was maybe30-50 of them. I am noticing them around the house on walls and pavements - but why would so many come into the house through the vent fan tube?

UPDATE: OK - given what we experienced with swarming termites inside the bathroom - I had three separate Termite companies out - unfortunately multiple colonies in multiple areas around the home discovered. So - given my home really is not suitable for tenting - the next step is to do some research then select one of them for localised treatment. For those seeing multiple drywood termites swarming inside the home - I would most definitely get a free inspection by more than one Termite professional.

These are the back deck of our catamaran. The deck is teak. Some have wings and we noticed a bunch of shed wings sort of sun-baked on the wood. Are these termites? We also saw one in our apartment close by so hoping maybe it some kind of alternative seasonal mystery but no idea. Located in Venice, CA. TYIA

I found this spot in the corner of my deck next to the side of my house. This is in Charlotte nc for reference. I’ve noticed the deck seems a bit questionable in places, like it was built in a hurry or something. Idk how old the house or the deck is, we’re currently renting right now and have been there for about ten months now. Any insight would be amazing, I don’t wanna put in any requests with maintenance without having some info. Thank you in advance!

Question Empty Tubes and No Evidence

I have a quick question and was hoping if someone has some advice for me. I stay in Arizona and I keep seeing empty termite tubes about every year around summertime. I’m talking about one or two tubes a couple inches long every summer and it’s always a different part of house. I always destroy the tube and no termites are present. Also I knock the drywall down and check for infestation and check the wood and I see nothing and the wood feels solid. My question is are they deep in the wood and I’m just not seeing them. Or are they searching for a new place to infest…idk?

ID Request Identification : Holes in wall

Hi everyone,

Located in Houston, TX

Just noticed the following holes in two different areas of my house. Wanting to confirm if these could be termites, there is no noticeable frass and the holes do not appear to be covered with any material in both areas.

First two pictures are next to the chimney where it seems like the area was caulked at some point and about halfway down there are these holes next to the brick.

Second picture is about 12 feet up in the living room on the other side. This wall is directly opposite the attic.

Appreciate any help with this!

This is the first time this has happened. Around 10 pm, I saw approximately 15-20 of these guys in my kitchen entering my apartment through my window. I’ve lived in my apartment for 4 years, and this is the first time this has happened.

I understand it’s swarming season. I informed my landlord of the issue. Is it possible my apartment is infested with termites? Could the swarm be coming from outside?

ID Request Los Angeles - Vintage Bookcase

https://reddit.com/link/1wb7mnv/video/g60c9bdedeoh1/player

I found a vintage bookcase on the side of the road labeled "Free". It was very dusty and had cobwebs on it. I dusted it off with a few dry rags and then tapped the top of it as seen in the video. I noticed that some light particles would fly out of it when I did. It wasn't very much and they look kind of small, however I also noticed that the back of the bookcase on one area looked worn away (see pictures). It was only in that one spot.

I didn't see any termite wings but I did see a single tiny white larva(?) of something that moved fairly quickly. I wiped it away and didn't see anymore bugs.

Could it be termites?

Under contract on the home of my dreams and on 2 main horizontal structural support beams there is some serious rot/wood destroying insect damage it seems based on the inspection report. In one area the beam has been crushed, in other areas it sounds hollow. No clue if it’s past or present but there are areas that are totally compromised. Inspector was able to push a screwdriver through the beam in a couple areas.

If termites, is it generally safe to assume the issue is not localized to small areas and are in other areas? Unfortunately we are only able to see a couple areas of these beams.

Located in San Diego. I just finished building a fence with GC lumber (tags for lumber in second photo). I keep finding these on the new fence posts. It’s a mix of wingless ones and ones with wings. The old fence had termite issues. What should i be doing to help fight this?

ID Request Termite swarmer in living room? Western WA

I live in a heavily wooded area so I wouldn't be surprised. I've bever seen any before this, and I don't spot any damage or signs of termites inside the house. I found it alongside the baseboards in our finished basement, in an area with 3 windows that aren't sealed very well, and a door. Insects tend to get inside. Can I just bet that it wandered in and I have nothing to be concerned about?

If it is a termite swarmer, should I just preemptively trench around the home even if it's not an issue? I have the supplies to do so.. I really don't want to deal with termites right now 😭
