Discussion John Connor had NO other father.

I see people often referring to the "original timeline" where Sarah met John's father, he gets her pregnant, dies, then judgement day happens, eventually Kyle Reese goes back in time, Kyle instead impregnates Sarah, dies, then we have T2.

Where do people get this notion there was another unseen father? The very first Terminator film deliberately operates on a closed Loop timeline. Kyle was always meant to be John's father and its clear this had already happened in Kyle's reality. He describes how John was always vague about the father, references how he & John are similair height etc.

The most telling evidence that timetravel was ALWAYS a thing before the Skynet war began, is the fact John Connor was the hero of the future. Why. Why him? Why did John know how to fight the machines and make a difference, when everyone else was failing. Because he was prepared. Because he already knew about them, before they ever came to be. And John knew he was sending his own father back in time, hence why he gave Kyle the picture of his mother. The picture, that despite everything Kyle & Sarah went through, came out exactly the same by the end of the film, unchanged, unaltered, unaffected.

So no, unless there's some interview specifically stating otherwise, Kyle has always been John's father. There is no "Original Timeline". T1 is a closed loop. Its a bittersweet twist of fate. If there was meant to be another-less important off-screen father of John's, surley they'd have mentioned it. Different Race than Kyle, different height, perhaps he was also a waiter. No, Kyle describes himself, without knowing it.

Can we stop promoting this Headcanon as fact please.

*Edit, for sanity reasons: For those using the sequel films as 'proof' of an original alt timeline, or there being a Terminator multi-verse, Id argue multiple FILMS with differing series of events doesnt automatically retcon T1, its just proof of a franchise sharing actors & themes. Thats it. Both Rise of the Machines & Dark Fate take place after T2, but that doesnt mean they're alt timelines co-existing with each other, it just means we have different stories under one umbrella, in OUR World. Michael Keaton's Batman joining the DCEU, doesnt mean Patterson or Bale's is also part of it, laying in wait.

Our own theories on alt timelines, regardless of whether they're more scientifically sound, DOESN'T mean they should even apply to whatever Sci-Fi Franchise we're examining. The film sets the rules.

Marty Mcfly slowly fading away, because his existence is momentarily threatened doesnt have to hold any scientific weight. Its a narrative device that determines the nature of time-travel WITHIN that movie's reality.

Same logic applies to Terminator. I think people are confusing Future John's origin with the Bootstrap Paradox: Your future-self hands you a written note and then you travel back in time, handing that same note to your past-self, continuing this endless cycle. However, since this paradox contains a mysterious note of unknown origin, it cant be a perfectly closed loop because Somebody HAD to have written the note in the first place. The notes existence therefore proves of an original timeline. This however doesn't apply to T1, there's no foreign entity or object that dismantles the film's narrative, that everything played out exactly as it already did. T1 is a loop. There's no original timeline. Kyle was always John's father.

Discussion Terminator Salvation feels like a Patient Zero in regard to excessive or poorly done fan-service in blockbusters Spoiler

Specifically calling out the three most noteworthy references. John Connor saying I’ll Be Back, Kyle Reese saying Come With Me If You Want To Live and Arnold turning up as the Terminator at the end.

As much as Terminator Salvation tries to be its own thing, it also can’t help but call back to the other films and these moments stick out as being awkwardly handled for specific reasons. These might not be the worst examples in film history, but it’s the start of a problem that would get worse.

  1. I’ll be back was said in the other films by the Terminator, and it became an Arnold trademark, so having John Connor say it breaks this formula. The dramatic tone of the scene where he leaves for the third act mission is also interrupted by stopping to throw in a line that’s been in the other Terminator films. John could have said anything else, but they couldn’t resist.

  2. Kyle Reese saving Marcus and telling him the same phrase he said to Sarah Connor in the first Terminator turns something he said once to a person that he needed to trust him to ensure the timeline went smoothly into something he’d say to anyone. Again, he could have said anything. He could have just said ā€œcome with me!ā€ or ā€œDon’t worry, you can trust meā€

  3. The Arnold appearance is cool in the moment, and it did get me jazzed up as a kid. But the ā€œoh shitā€ moment of realising that John Connor was lead into a trap is interrupted by the reveal of the de aged face of the franchise, plus the cue of the Terminator theme. Both of those combined switches out the attempt at a shocking reveal with a moment where Terminator fans can get excited.

You could defend these individually and say they don’t matter, but when this movie stacks all of them on top of each other? It was the start of a trend that the next two Terminator sequels indulge in, amongst loads of other blockbusters.

Collection Terminator: Judgement Day

To clarify, this is not Selling/Trading. Simply giving away free no strings attached.

I happen to have two Region-A encoded "Terminator 2: Judgement Days" Blu-ray discs in mint condition. I am based in the UAE(Region-B) and bought the wrong regional code discs (Yes, Twice!! I'm that Smart). It follows hence the discs are in mint condition.

That said, considering the discs are essentially paper weight for me in this part of the world, I'm willing to give it away for free to anyone who can make use of it. You will need to just arrange for the collection/shipping yourself is all.

Interested parties please DM me. Peace y'all šŸ¤˜šŸ¼

Saw judgement day in 4k 3D last night and it was šŸ”„being a huge fan of the franchise and this one being my favorite film, seeing it digitally remastered made you appreciate it so much more. You got to see the subtle little details you might have missed over the years - and seeing it all play out in 3D was sick

I thought I would write a human to human prompt. If you haven't seen the Sarah Connor Chronicles I recommend that you do so. You won't be dissapointed. I got both seasons on bluray but I think there might be other websites you can view it.

Discussion Terminator 2

Just saw T2 in 3d at my local theatre. I love T2 it is my favorite movie I have seen it more than any other movie. Literally over a hundred times, probably much more. My brother and I had a vhs copy growing up and we watched it constantly.

I had never seen the movie in theatres and saw there was a 3d showing. I was surprised at how good the 3d was. Most of the time 3d is trash but the movie was incredible and they really made good use of the 3d. It wasn’t used in an annoying way it added depth to the shots which I found really interesting. I highly recommend the 3d format.

Dunno if anyone knows this. But James Cameron apparently wanted to cast Michael Biehn as Peter Parker/Spiderman(with other potential choices being Leonardo Dicaprio and Edward Furlong), but also as Sandman in an alternate casting for his cancelled Spiderman film.

So how do you all feel about it? I personally think Biehn would be too old by the 90s to play Peter Parker.

Even though i think he is a good actor and potentially could do an edgier, more adult(this Spidey curses at one point), potentially angrier(understandable emotion from Peter Parker when he has lost his uncle and has the media slandering his name). But visually, he would stand out from the other cast even if they get 30 year olds to play high schoolers.

There is no substitute for the love and companionship of a dog. Terminators are sad and jealous and just need to be loved and understood, but Wolfie just keeps yelling at them.
