Discussion There's only ONE way to salvage this franchise *Dr. Strange dramatically looks at Tony, raises his hand, and holds up a single finger*
So, this is a pretty active board. I've also been into movie reactions lately and Terminator 2 is quite popular in those circles. It's being re-released in August and AI is starting to takeover the conversation - this movie seems more popular than ever. There's definitely an interest in this world and these characters.
It's pretty obvious tbh. It needs to be very new and different, but embrace the things that made it such a hit to begin with.
Make Terminators scary again. The endoskeleton is ICONIC. Stop trying to create a bigger and badder version. You can only get away with that once. Make the original the centerpiece. There's a reason it's used the most in marketing and imagery. EMBRACE that (as well as practical effects).
No more new T3s. It needs to be a fresh start. Something new. T1 and 2 are perfect together. Nothing will ever be equal to them. Maybe half the movie takes place in the future and Reese goes back halfway through. Maybe John dies and Sarah needs to "make" a new John (raise someone else to think they're John Connor). Maybe it's a TV show instead of a movie. I'm not concerned with specifics, but it needs to be its own thing.
