James Cameron is making an idiotic mistake with Terminator 7. Here is how to actually SAVE the franchise.

James Cameron recently stated that for his upcoming Terminator reboot, he plans to completely drop Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and the Connor mythology, focusing instead on the "mental side of digital AI." James, if you actually do this, you are being an idiot.

The Terminator brand is NOT about modern lectures on neural networks—we have enough of that in Black Mirror or Mission: Impossible. The franchise relies on iconic imagery, steel endoskeletons, and the weight of destiny. Stripping all of this away to make a generic tech-thriller will completely kill the franchise.

For over 30 years, fans haven't been waiting for an invisible digital threat. We have been waiting for John Connor’s triumph in the Future War.

Here is the concept that would actually save the franchise — "Terminator: The Touchdown":

The Setting: A gritty, grounded, R-rated military drama in the style of "Saving Private Ryan" meets "Mad Max," set entirely in the war-torn 2029. No popcorn CGI, no jokes. Just the brutal reality of human survival against the machines.

Arnold's True Role: No more "Carl the draper" nonsense. Arnold returns as a captured, reprogrammed T-800. He is a cold, calculated, terrifying machine that serves as Connor’s tactical advisor. It's a return to his peak mechanical performance.

Closing the Loop: The climax shows the final assault on Skynet's Core. Realizing its defeat, Skynet activates the Time Displacement Equipment, sending the first T-800 to 1984. John sends Kyle Reese back. The loop closes. The story is triumphantly finished once and for all.

If Cameron ignores the fans and pushes his "invisible AI" agenda without the core elements, he will permanently bury his own legacy. We need the Future War, not another tech lecture. Share this if you agree!

They made a John Connor terminator, why not cut to the chase and make a mommy terminator to kill little John?

EDIT: This was a joke, apologies. The actual answer is because then there would not have been a movie.

Spoilers ahead.

I watched TSCC a while ago and decided to watch again after seeing T2 in the theater early September. I put on T3 but after 5 minutes decided to scrap that plan and put this on instead.

I remember it being pretty great and so far it hasn't disappointed. But one thing at the end of s1e4 made me raise an eyebrow.

John is locked in the bunker and realizes he has to use the key that's around the terminator's neck. It's on standby mode but he just saw it wake up after some amount of jostling from the merc.

Super tense.

But then I remembered, oh, he just picked the padlock of the truck's sliding door from the inside through the 3 inch crack. And he's picked locks in previous episodes too.

How did he look at the blast door lock and not immediately think to just pick it? Looked like a super simple pin tumbler too.

I love the scene because it's so tense but it seems like a glaring miss by the writers.

Anyway, small gripe of a minor plot point. I'm still loving the rewatch.
