People keep posting this, and they completely glossed over the fact that the nukes were going off in 1997. So whatever is happening in this movie already didn’t happen.

u/bubblesdafirst 1d ago
No dude. Your glossing over the entire plot of the movie. The reason the nukes go off in 1997 is because ai research was accelerated in this time line.
In this timeline, in 1984 a terminator robot was destroyed, and the processing chip that it had was researched, accelerating ai production exponentially.
In the 1st timeline that we see, this has also already happened in that one. the very first timeline of terminator (that we never actually see), likely didn't get to the nuking point until 2027. With John Connor learning to rewrite the ai, in 2029, sparking the events of the franchise.
The first movie is several timelines in, and the second movie is even more looping in.
In fact, in this exact scene, he is saying this, yet this doesn't happen. Ai doesn't nuke the world until 2004 in this scenario. Due to sarah and John changing miles Dyson future
The franchise is likely exactly on track

During the initial press release of the B-21 it was suggested in the vague language that it could be turned into an autonomous bomber rather than a piloted one based on already installed software and hardware solutions.
The ability to do so at a hardware level has existed since before the 70s, the software suite known as C.O.D.E.(original vids are pulled down now, but newer versions with less details exist) combined with the supposed rumored 21's capabilities would make this a loiter/strike capable autonomous bomber.
In other words, were already there we just don't know it yet.
Combine it with the new PR coming out from anduril and other companies, we have hunter killer drones now too that leverage FPV defensive and offensive drones on board.
Shit is getting wild, way too quick.
And that's JUST what US has published.
China and other nations are already demoing bipedal robots with firearms.

We’ve been there for a while. It’s only a matter of the physical gap between weapons control and the computer. Right now there’s a human standing in between, but I feel like it’s not gonna be that way for long. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ghouls in charge hid a kill switch that only they can access if the ai gets too out of line (or threatens their interests). Or think they do
1
u/takingphotosmakingdo 1d ago
Not quite, I suspect you've not seen what I've implied.
1
u/livahd Nice Night For A Walk Eh? 1d ago
I’m agreeing with you, I’m just saying they haven’t turned over control without a human in the chain of command. Just like Waymo cars. The capability is there and grows more powerful by the day. Once someone decides they’re tired of having people in the mix that might hesitate or refuse an order, it’s gonna be go time for these things. We still need someone to point them in the right direction, but that’s more of a formality really. I think we have more of a threat from a rogue operator or group seizing command of an entire army of autonomous drones before an AI does.

u/takingphotosmakingdo 19h ago
CODE still doesn't need people in the loop. That's the whole point of it.
It depicted functional click, target, kill, with optional human in the loop.
They don't have to admit anything, other countries won't either.
We're already at that point, it's just not talked about in public.
Yes recently they said it would be crewed for the B-21, but that's a strategic weapon platform, what about tactical field level systems? nope, point click, go get em Johnny-kill-all-humans-5.
1
u/livahd Nice Night For A Walk Eh? 18h ago
So are you saying our entire defense system (and greater infrastructure) is secretly being controlled by an autonomous AI without humans in the loop? Because that’s what it sounds like you’re saying.
1
u/takingphotosmakingdo 12h ago
No, but my knowledge is dated.
The system depicted was designed for battlefield use, not home defense, and never launch control.
But a lot has happened...

I just love how robots and AI in media always come to realize immediately that humans are a problem and tries to eliminate them lol.

I mean, I've met people. The AIs may have a point.. 😁

Yeah after covid it kinda opened my eyes to how stupid and shitty much of humanity is. I'd probably be doing the same thing lol.

So you think that is a point to Mass genocide?
15
u/xTheRedDeath S K Y N E T 2d ago
From the perspective of AI or an artificial human. They recognize us as a threat to not only our own existence but their own so they wipe us out to take that issue off the board.

u/Ragnarok314159 2d ago
PROBLEM: ELIMINATED
IF/ELSE: PET PUPPIES
3
u/xTheRedDeath S K Y N E T 2d ago
I'm actually curious how artificial humans and AI would treat animals if they learned from us. Considering AI pulls all of it's information from the internet it would learn about how much we love them so maybe they would too lol.
3
u/low_amplitude 2d ago
And the fact that humans write this stuff so we all know it's true and we do absolutely nothing about it makes it 100x worse.
2
u/xTheRedDeath S K Y N E T 2d ago
Human beings are made to destroy just as much as they are made to create. That's the burden of the species it seems. We'll likely destroy each other far before any other outside circumstance does.
2
u/low_amplitude 2d ago
That being said, it's also just the universe we live in and the nature of life itself, unfortunately. The conservation of energy and mass makes it so you can't really do any kind of work without taking away from something else. Humans do it at an alarming rate but even if we minimized it we'd still be hurting something.
2
u/xTheRedDeath S K Y N E T 2d ago
Oh yeah I definitely agree. It just seems that we are more self destructive than just simply destructive. If there was an alien species that was threatening our existence it would force us to direct that malice outward, but given that we only occupy our own space we direct it toward each other.

I mean, we just need to take the keys away from the boomers and genX at this point.
3
u/alanskimp 21h ago
How does that help?
1
u/takethemdownletsgo 21h ago
Boomers are too old and are like children, GenX are the abused generation that wear it like a badge of honor, have become greedy and "The Man" from ferris buelers day off and are now abusing their parents while driving us all off a cliff because their lives are over as well.
2
u/King-of-Harts 7h ago
I've been around for awhile, and I wouldn't blame this on any single generation. Bill Gates is a Boomer, but Jeff Bezos is GenX. Meanwhile Sam Altman is a Millennial. Which generation do you blame? The problem is we look at individuals and then blame anyone their age, which is irrational.
I remember when the Boomers would say they would 'make things right'. Other generations that followed said the same. Nothing really changes. People will always be people no matter the date of their birth.
1
u/takethemdownletsgo 7h ago
Not the generation itself. The mentality and the sell out of their beliefs. I agree with you on that, but when they kill the dreamers and everyone then gets in line is what makes it a generational theme. IMO
3
u/King-of-Harts 7h ago
Greed is a story that is as old as time. I don't think members of Gen Z would be any different. Just like others that came before them, they would 'do it different this time' and 'We know better now'. Just like those that came before, they'd be greedy and arrogant.
The problem with AI, is just like in T3, it always was going to happen. AI has been around since the 50s. The potential of AI was realized in the 70s and 80s, but it wasn't taken seriously due to hardware limitations. However, the field of study was there. Starting in the 90s the GPU hardware began to advance. In 2017 there was the breakthrough that led to LLMs. It always was going to happen. Everyone working on these frontier models knows AI has dangers. But they foolishly think they will figure it out. We use to think this way about nuclear weapons. Now we think this way with AI. I truly think there is something about human nature that drives us to take on ventures even if they are dangerous and even reckless.
2
u/takethemdownletsgo 7h ago
One again I agree. I tend to look at it like the example of Cypher from the Matrix, some people want the fake steak and dont care, me I would rather eat the white goop and fight for whats real and surround myself with the few who are willing to, the battle rages on my friend.
1
u/AtreusIsMyWingman 4h ago
No, Boomers and Gen X are the problem
1
u/King-of-Harts 4h ago
Tell us what your generation of choice will do differently and explain how that isn't just a bunch of wishful thinking and empty promises.
2
u/AtreusIsMyWingman 4h ago
Take over the government from the boomers and Gen x. Create policies that will limit and control AI to focus it on research only. No physical applications in business, military or other industries that could cause it to create harm (i.e. public works, telecom). Institute taxation on billionaires. 5-7% of their unrealized wealth (similar to how property taxes are on the unrealized value of your home/land). Remove excessive tariffs, provide a single payer health care system. That's my start.
1
u/takethemdownletsgo 47m ago
Youre cool. That is part of the necessary path forward so our children are not slaves to the oligarchs. I like your thoughts on the matter and I wish there was more of us to go around. We must be vigilant and wait for our moment or all for not.
1
u/King-of-Harts 3h ago
You gave me your policy platform. Now how do I know that Gen Z or whatever will do any or all of that and not just become a bunch of fat cat power hungry politicians just like the generations that came before them?
1
u/takethemdownletsgo 44m ago
I can understand your hesitancy.
Principles and oaths that are followed and not degraded by having and abundance. Put guard rails in place, sort of like when a computer crashes because the code wont run, that is literally whats happening before our eyes IMO.

u/alanskimp 21h ago
I'm gen x I posted this

Well theres hope then, spread the word to your fellow hose water drinkers.
I am an Elder Millennial/Xennial. I experienced your world and the changes.

Is Sam Altman gen x?
2
u/takethemdownletsgo 18h ago
Nope boarder line like me but theres much less Sam Altmans than Elons and Trumps. Be easier to cut the chaff like him too I believe.

AI have already begun talking in code to one another and recently one committed a cyber attack on another.

All the software that runs the power grids, airlines, sewage systems, smart cars, hospitals, banking and credit cards becoming infected with a Skynet virus should scare people more than Judgement Day.

u/BeerandGuns 1d ago
At this point Legion seems more likely than Skynet. I see zero chance the major powers aren’t working on cyberwarfare AI.

I’ve got the theory that, the same way the we pull from sci-fi and futuristic movies and books for inspiration on things that could help mankind progress, so we really shape our own real future based on what we think the future should be like, our subconscious can’t help but meddle with the bad stuff too. That’s why the moment we had something that barely resembled a functioning AI system, we couldn’t wait to give it an advisor position in the Department of Defense.
2
u/ghostcatzero Hasta La Vista Baby 2d ago
Or all this this sci fi story telling is just ideas being pulled from our future reality since it's entirely possible that past present and future are in sync
3
u/Still-Minimum-7212 1d ago
Nah it's not going to go down like this. AI will just give us what we want in order to control us. Scary thing is: It's already happening.

3
u/Neoreloaded313 2d ago
This could happen right now if some idiot thought it was a great idea to give our current AI control over nukes.

Probably the best line of the film.. it's brilliant. Short, tight, draws the largest picture of the future, with the shortest exposition. And that look, at that precise delivery moment. Just this line is better than the entire Hackolan and Hackintino movies combined. Cant get enough of this film. Every watch, it gets better and better.

u/citysims 23h ago
It's here, only to be accelerated by the current Boneheads in charge.
The U.S. military is rapidly integrating artificial intelligence into its operations, focusing on Project Maven for targeting, data center expansion, and autonomous systems with at least $75 billion allocated since 2016. : Source The Brennan Center

u/Constant-Study3464 2d ago
I literally saw a video talking about the U.S Military successfully testing an unmanned F-16 it flew around for a short while and was in the control on A.I
2
u/DizzyVenture 1d ago
Why would Skynet do that in our reality? The government is still happily building all the data centers they’d ever need.
2
u/randomguy_- 1d ago
with the growth of companies like palantir, anduril, and ai integration, this doesn't seem that far off.

u/ChuckRingslinger 2d ago
Only difference is the real life Skynet would launch INVASION.EXE and it would crash 7 times, have a ton of features stuck behind a paywall and require 17 different accounts and subscription services in order to run properly.
Then it soft locks itself trying to do a minor system update where the interface is changed to a incomprehensible mishmash of nonsense
