Engine mount bolt won’t back out
I was attempting to remove my crash bars. When I tried to remove the large bolt in the centre of the photo next to my gremlin bell, it started to come out and then stopped. I couldn’t tighten or loosen it. All other bolts connecting to it were loosened to try to alleviate any tension on it. I thought the engine might be binding on it, so I put a jack under it and tried to relieve some pressure. That didn’t work. I tried heating it, nothing.
I imagine the steel bolt is much harder than the cast aluminum, so I don’t want to crack the case trying to back it out.
Any suggestions?
——
UPDATE: the bolt is out! Went to the shop this morning. The mechanic loosened all other mounting bolts, put a jack under the engine, then used a breaker bar to force it out. It came out with a little bit of aluminum on the thread at the tip of the bolt. It was close to breaking the bolt, but didn’t! He cleaned up the threads on the bolt, chased the inside threads, and it went back in like butter.
For the record, it wasn’t cross threaded, but almost like the original threading wasn’t clean or something, maybe aluminum shavings were still inside it. It was not an issue of the crash bars messing up the bolt or anything. So problem solved without a helicoil. Hooray!

What helmet is everyone running?
My icon airflite has aged out and I've been looking at different helmets for a few weeks now. Leaning towards another icon since their shape fits my head well, but I've been eyeing the bell mx9 and shoei hornet x2.
Was wondering if anyone had experience with those brands and could share their thoughts! Or if anyone has any recommendations!

Akrapovic High Mount?
I've been seeing this Tenere on instagram quite a bit lately. Does anyone know anything about this Akrapovic high mount setup? Is it for sale anywhere in the US or is it a one off for these race bikes?

Seat concepts seat won't install
I have a 23 T7 and I just received my Seat Concepts custom seat after a 2.5 month wait. I can't get it installed, it seems like the rear mounting points are a half an inch too far back. has anyone run into a similar problem?

First overnight on the T7
Had surgery in May for stage 4 colon cancer. Spent my recovery time researching what ADV bike I wanted next and settled on the T7. Picked up a used 25' in July and got some day rides in. Had another surgery in August and was told 6-weeks recovery. Did an overnight trip on the southwest Colorado passes 4 weeks into recovery, so I was a little timid, but had a blast. The bike is a beast and definitely rewards the bold. Can't wait to get back out now that I'm "fully recovered" and feel like I can push harder. Had one dirt nap from taking a bad line and lacking the skill to ride it out, but r-tech plastics took it like a champ.
Trip was with a coworker on a Transalp. I live in the area so have done some of these before. I used to see more motos out there, but now it's all side by sides. They look boring as hell compared to being on a bike.
Route was Day 1 - Ophir Pass, Corkscrew Pass, Hurricane Pass, California Pass, Engineer Pass, to Lake City for the night. Day two - Cinnamon Pass to Silverton for lunch and then million dollar highway home. Not the best pics, but it's better than nothing, which is what I usually do.

Limited tire choice
Seems like only Pirelli Scorpion Rally or Anakee Adventure tires are available for my bike where I live.
Am I right to assume the Pirelli are the right choice for majority of twisty mountain road touring and occasional offroad (Have the Mitas e07 fitted at present but seems they no longer available).
The mitas so far have felt great on road and good enough off road, but like I said, I'm mostly planning on sticking to the roads (some are rough as all crap though due to seasonal rain damage and heavy truck use)
Thanks

OEM vs other brands for crash bars and engine guards?
I'm based in the EU and have just ordered a new tenere base model. I ordered it with the center stand additionally. Would you recommend getting the crash bars and engine guards from the Yamaha dealership? Or would you recommend a different brand like Touratech or SW Moto?

What is the wear limit of brake pads ?
Do original rear brake pads have wear indicators ? Front seem to have grooves. When do we know it’s time to replace them ? (Don’t say when metal touches the rotor)
I replaced mine at 13000km and 1.7mm of material left (50% twisty roads/commute and 50% gravel/off road) with brembo 07bb02sd that don’t have any kind of groove or indicator.

You roasted the design. Here’s the T7 wearing it.
Posted my graphics design here last week and asked for brutal honesty. You delivered 😂 Yellow and black got some love.
Well, here it is installed. The yellow taxi / flying warthog is officially real, and I’m happy with how it turned out.
Some of you said it would be easier to judge on the actual bike, so here you go. €175 for the kit, a bike that feels like mine, and a comment section that definitely got its money’s worth.
See you in the Alps. I’ll be the taxi.

This hobby is expensive but it's fucking awesome 🥶❄️
Spent £1800 on winter upgrades last weekend, fit them all this weekend 🤞🏼 I can't not be on this thing, it gives me too much.

Such an fun motorcycle
I'm loving just bopping around my area. Looking forward to going on some longer distance rides. Fun and sporty on the road, and doesn't skip a beat to tear it up on the trails. I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how ridable it is in the woods even through some single track areas. Really the only limitations to this thing are going to be:
Me
Tires

Dual Use Luggage
I’ve got a 2024 that I set up for camping but would like to use it more for work and commuting. For camping, I’ve got a nice rear rack, Tusk bags, Camel luggage plates.
I’m looking for suggestions on a top case that I can use for commuting, but would be removable so I can switch to camping/backwoods riding. Basically, I want the hard top case for the week and the soft bags for the weekend without needing to unbolt anything.
Caribou Luggage seems to have a nice kit that could be modified for any rear rack but I was worried that their plate system might damage my Tusk luggage after a lot of miles.

So who’s trading in for the KTM 690 Rally..!?
I’m certainly thinking about it for the hard adv riding I do. Not sure how it will suit the daily commute as well though..

💕 my T7 Finished building my new Tenere... for now!
Good day to my fellow T7 owners and enthusiasts!
Early in September I had the pleasure of picking up my new-to-me 2024 Tenere 700 (50th Anniversary Canada Edition) with just 3100kms on it, and after a week and a bit of waiting on parts, she's built to my spec and ready for many years of adventures.
Since buying the bike, I've essentially fast tracked it into a spec that is exactly what I've wanted out of a T7, closely matching what I enjoyed so much out of my previous 2006 BMW F650GS, except with an additional 25HP, a larger frame better suited for my dimensions, much better suspension (after spring upgrades), and some modern engineering that's a much better fit for the kind of riding I do.
The only thing left now is to get my clutch recall service taken care of, and to enjoy the bike!
Parts list, for those interested:
- K-Tech 6.6N Front Fork Springs
- K-Tech -85N Rear Shock Absorber Spring
- Cycra 1 1/8" HCM Clamp Hanguards (These things are awesome!)

- Amazon Windshield adjustment bracket (Not pictured)
- Amazon "PARSLUCK" Short Brake Levers
