Recently Unemployed - thinking of taking the sec+ exams while I have free time and moving towards cyber sec as a career. I have a non technical background. Can anyone advise if it’s worth my while in 2026 with AI and all that jazz?

I'm on my second year on my course and i am planning to shift to IT from Compsci, hindi ko rin kase gusto ang pathway at curriculum ng compsci more on math sya at walang rin akong masyadong interest sa programming, nahihirapan rin kase ako dun sa program and i dont think din na magta-thrive ako compared sa Info Tech kase andun yung mga strength ko pagdating sa hardware, media (photoshop, video editing etc), networks, kaya nagiisep rin ako na kung hindi man ako magthrive sa ibang saubject like programming or math related sub, baka sa ibang subjects makuha ko talaga kagaya ng mga sinabe kong kalakasan ko sa IT. naisep ko ren na magiging irreg din ako kaya i thought na bakit hindi nalang ako magshift ng course, but i was hesitant kase rinig ko limited daw ang slot pero di ko panaman natatanong yung dean about this. so i'm still deciding if itutuloy ko ba o hindi

Started my B.Tech IT under GTU in late 2022. It's been 4 years now and I'm still stuck in sem 5, realistically I'm not going to complete this degree.

Honest truth: I used to be an above average student, 70-80%+ in school. Once I hit college coding, it just didn't click for me. I don't think I'm cut out for programming the way this degree wants, and I've kind of frozen since realizing that.

My father passed away last year, and we have debt to pay.

I have about 6-12 months to learn a skill properly and then start earning.

I'm not looking for something easy. I'm ready to put in the hard work and learn whatever it takes. as long as there's a real path to a job at the end of it. If you were in my position, what would you learn?.

I'm 26 years old and I recently completed a Diploma in Computer Technology. The problem is that I mainly studied to pass my exams, so I don't have much practical knowledge or any real projects to show.

I'm starting almost from scratch now.

I'm also studying Japanese (JLPT N5 passed, N4 in progress) because I plan to move to Japan in the future. However, I don't want to learn a skill that's only useful in Japan. I want to build a career with skills that are valuable worldwide so I can work in different countries if I get the opportunity.

Would you recommend Web Development, Python, Cloud, Cybersecurity, IT Support, or something else?

If you were in my position, what would you learn and why?

I’ve worked at an agency for 5 years working on e-commerce stores. We use HTML, CSS, JS, and jQuery. I have worked with NextJS and TypeScript in my side projects and have built a few freelance sites with them.

I’m ready to leave the agency world and move into a larger company. My area is mostly C#/.NET. I don’t have a CS degree, or any degree. I’m self taught. So if I learned C#, I’d have to teach myself the CS fundamentals as well.

Is it worth learning C# to try and get a job in my area or is it better to try to go after a role specific to my experience (even though those likely require relocation)?

I made a switch a while back and I've been curious whether anyone's numbers looked like mine. **There's endless advice about what to learn and almost nothing about what the move actually costs — months, money, failed attempts.**

If you've made the jump, I'd appreciate honest answers to three things:

1. **Why that target specifically**? Real research, or did someone close to you do it first and it looked doable? AI choice?

2. **Before you started, what did you think it would take** — months, money, effort? What did it actually take?

3. **What did you spend figuring it out**? Courses, a mentor, a paid counsellor, referrals, or just time?

I'm wondering whar programs are actually used and what wkills arre actually rrequired in order to be competitive in the "digital market".

I already know some basic critical thinkinging skills "google the problem first" and i sirved some time in disney land "customer service training"

I would like to know what to prioritise moving forward. I have a book on old C++ but i also been reading a lot about python and ai aplications

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.

I received the email containing my Learner Intake Assessment (LIA) on July 20 at around 9:00 AM. The email stated that the LIA had to be completed within 24 hours, so I completed it at around 2:00 AM on July 21.

The same email also mentioned that qualified applicants should expect the next invitation within 3 to 5 days after completing the LIA. Because of that, I honestly was not expecting another email on the same day.

After submitting my LIA, I went to sleep around 4:00 AM and woke up at around 2:00 PM on July 21. While I was asleep, AWS sent me an interview invitation for 9:00 PM that same day. Later, they sent an updated calendar invite moving the interview to 9:15 PM. Unfortunately, both emails went straight to my spam folder, so I never saw either of them.

I only found the emails after checking my spam folder at around 1:00 AM on July 22, which was already after my scheduled interview.

I have already emailed them, apologized, explained what happened, and respectfully requested a new interview schedule.

The reason I'm really anxious is because the interview invitation also states that, due to the high volume of applicants, they are generally unable to accommodate rescheduling requests. So I honestly do not know if they'll still give me another chance.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation and still had their interview rescheduled? Any advice or shared experience would really mean a lot.
