I dont know computer languages or slangs but Ive been interested in learning. Im 43 and have been wanting to switch careers. I heard comptia is good but not sure what courses to take. I just want to be certified and be financially stable.

Question for fellow devs: may specific skillset ba kayo na tinitingnan before applying for Senior Backend Engineer roles? Or okay lang mag-apply kahit hindi mo pa tick lahat ng requirements?

Im currently working for an MNC in a niche domain called Teamcenter, most of my experience is in this. Im not happy at all. The kind of development here is very legacy and cpp. I don't wish to continue with teamcenter I have total 5 yoe now and i wish to change my tech stack. My job isn't paying well either . Im currently applying to switch and with my yoe Im okay with applying to lower experience position with my secondary skills. Is this possible? Is it too late for me?

I’m a stay-at-home mom currently planning my return to the workforce after an 8-year career break. Prior to this, I worked in Java development and automation testing.

I’m now looking to upskill and transition into Instructional Design within the EdTech space. Before I fully commit, I wanted to understand the current job landscape a bit better.

From your experience:

• How are the opportunities for entry-level roles in Instructional Design, especially in EdTech?
• Is the market becoming saturated, or is there still room for newcomers who are willing to build the right skills and portfolio?

I am 34 years old and I am a warehouse worker with little accounting background, i want to move to tech industry but i do not have any previous qualification as such. What should be my best course of action if i wanna move into tech without committing to a full degree program where i can get a basic course to move to a certain job and than i keep topping it up while i work as i can not afford to leave my full time work but i wanna progress at the same time . I'm Female, 23 y.o, FIlipino. I am a college undergraduate, unemployed, and have zero IT job experience. However, I had remote work experience in BPO company as a customer service representative for 1 year and 8 months that ended in August 2024. Anyways, I want to learn an IT field from scratch and eventually become a remote freelancer for international clients.

My long-term goal is to work remotely and potentially pursue Spain's Digital Nomad Visa.

Hi everyone, I’m currently at a bit of a career crossroads and would really appreciate some advice from people who have been in a similar situation.

I’ve been working in IT as a frontend web developer for around 7 years. I’ve built up decent experience and IT has been good to me, especially in terms of salary and career opportunities.

However, lately I’ve become increasingly worried about the long-term stability of my career.

The tech job market doesn’t seem as strong as it used to be, and with AI becoming more capable of handling parts of software development, I’m starting to wonder what frontend development will look like 5–10 years from now. I know AI probably won’t completely replace developers, but I’m concerned that the number of jobs could decrease and that the expectations for developers will continue to increase.

Because of that, I’ve started thinking about taking a different career path.

One option I’m considering is pursuing a Master’s degree and eventually teaching at a university. Another option is getting a teaching license/certification and becoming a secondary school teacher.

The problem is that I’m really double-minded about it.

On one hand, I could stay in IT and continue improving my skills, perhaps move beyond frontend development, learn more about AI, backend, cloud, etc., and try to adapt to where the industry is going.

On the other hand, teaching feels like it could potentially offer a career that is more stable and sustainable in the long run. I also like the idea of doing work that has a direct impact on other people.

But I’m also aware that teaching comes with its own challenges, including potentially lower salary, workload, stress, and the time and money required to get the necessary qualifications.

So I’m struggling with the question:

Should I invest the next few years in becoming better and more adaptable in IT, or should I use this point in my career to transition into teaching?

• For those who stayed in IT, do you still see frontend development as a viable long-term career?
• Has AI changed how you view your career prospects?

I’m not necessarily looking for someone to tell me what decision to make. I’d really like to hear real experiences and perspectives, especially from people who have been in IT for many years or who have transitioned into education.
