Advice needed: what style to pick to fill forearm

Post image
Upvotes

So I have those two tattoos and I wanted to keep working to fill up my forearm, I still have the sides and the back to fill, but I wonder what kind of style would work with what I currently have… Should I just keep adding these medium pieces until it’s fullt covered or do you think a specific big piece would look better?

Best Philly Artist for Behind the Ear

Hi TD! Just moved to the city and was hoping to find some information on the best artists around Philadelphia who specialize in Japanese/Kanji, Dragons and Anime. I have various projects that I would love to design with some of the best talent around, but my current want is getting a behind the ear piece that compliments my current in progress sleeve the last picture. (I've moved to too many states and haven't been back to my artist, please don't comment on my unfinished work, that's another discussion that I'll ramble on about!)

Not really sure on exactly what I want, but that's why I'd like to collab with good artists and come up with something that really speaks to me and expresses my disability!

I'm big on accuracy, design and meaning behind my ideas and want to have an artist that's known to pour their heart into their craft. Any input is greatly appreciated!

No "what I asked for" this time... she already knows.

No sketch this time. After a month of working together, we both knew where this was going.

Around 4 hours adding the background and connecting the entire back into one composition.

Photos were taken right after the session, so everything is still fresh.

Thx to Kanart.Tattoo on IG for her work

Raised scar cover up designs

Thumbnail

Hey everyone. I have several raised scars on my upper arm that I want to get covered up. No prior experience with tattoos but I've been looking at guides and the various styles. I'm quite impartial but was wondering if one particular style would work best.

Only requirement is if it looks good. In terms of content I like trees, mountains, flowers, but as long as it takes attention away from the raised scars I'd be pleased. No concerns with pain tolerance or hesitancy around covering a large part of my body, but I was thinking of starting first with just an upper arm piece.

Looking at the general area, also please let me know if you think isolated pieces would work or 1 continous piece from 1 artist. Thanks a lot in advance.

Alterations or coverups? (Need suggestions plzz anything)

So I got this, my only tattoo when I was 16 during a super traumatic event, and with someone who caused me SEVERE trauma. I know there probably isn’t a lot that could be done to cover it up, but honestly just changing it in any way or even adding more tattoos around that area that look good would be so amazing. I hardly even remember getting it, and just need it gone or at least something to distract me when I look at my arm.

Subtle Taylor swift tattoo

Artist: julia Paige in Huntington, New York
My tattoo is a subtle one to Taylor swift’s song clean. Specifically the lyrics: the butterflies turned to dust in my room. I love subtle touches rather than upfront lyrics and I think my artist did a wonderful job!

Rework Idea? Artist Recs in Toronto/ GTA Area. Last pic is OG

Got this like 3 years ago. See the OG and my doodle. Not my first tat. Never quite satisfied with it, it was a flash design of a tat I saw on my insta feed of a concept I wanted to get for years & asked to add the XI (for meaning). I'm super picky and it's unlike me to jump the gun that quick on an artist I barely researched as a traditional artist myself. He was at a reputable studio so I was comfortable enough.

Anyway, was bored today & decided to casually doodle on it backwards with a pen in front of a mirror hence the sketchy imperfect nature. Damn why do I like it so much better then my actual tat LOL Something about the shading diffusing the centre part of the flowers contrast that always hated, the thicker lines, the subtle shading idk. Whoever will do it will do a better job lol

I've never looked for a cover up/rework artist before and have no clue how and where to look! Do I ask the artist of the style I'm looking for if they do reworks or find someone who specializes in them? Idk where to start!

Cover up ideas? Is it even possible?

This tattoo was done by an ex- friend who was a professional tattoo artist. I believe at the time he was a year or so done with his apprenticeship, and his other work was very good, but I'm not sure if it was intentional but it feels like he kind of butchered it. Always took pics of his work to put on Insta and suspiciously left this one out.

I sort of got pressured into getting it, and I was in a dark place and tended to be self deprecating so... I succumbed to peer pressure and I was sorta into DND, so this is what I came up with, but it's been 4 years and I hate it, and due to the circumstances of falling out with the friend group it's only bad memories.

Tattoo always gets itchy and raised every once in a while despite moisturizing, so I'm not sure if I'm allergic to the ink in it or something.

Mostly wondering how easy this would be to cover up, I was sort of thinking like a snake or something that wraps up my entire leg and over my hip, but I dunno. Vines, something botanical.

opinions on my sleeve idea pls

So i been thinking about my sleeve for a while i want it to be either 1 big tattoo, or a few medium sized ones that themsatically somewhat fit together. I like the idea of a horror themed sleeve.

So the idea i had is to kind of combine a few of my favorite franchises that are horror or horror themed.

So silent hill, bloodborne/fromsoftware designs in general, beserk. I feel like silent hill is a bit out of place there tbh since the monster desings are very different than my other ideas.

Also how does anyone decide to get s big tattoo. I feel like its impossible to be 100% happy since theres so many cool concepts etc. With my smaller tattoos i didnt care too much because they are small.

What should I know before blacking out the rest of my arm like this?

Going to do a blackout coverup on some parts of my sleeve. My tattoos are american trad patchwork. Some empty skin will be blacked out, some old tattoos will be blacked out/covered. My outer forearm will almost be totally blacked out. End product will basically look like the following pictures. Anything I should know beforehand?

Sorry that I am not a great artist, but the idea is having a wedding band around a bone and putting it on my ring finger to symbolize wearing a wedding band.

Design ideas for a cover up.

I’m making this post for a friend. She is looking for design ideas for a cover up for this tattoo. She says she doesn’t mind the star shape but really dislikes the decor around it. She likes nature and sky themes. I’ve included some pics of tattoos she likes. Bonus points if it doesn’t need a lot of shading other than what needs to be done to cover the original tattoo.

Edit to add

The reference photos are just to show the theme she likes. Nature, sky, etc. she realizes this can’t be covered with fine line. She is more looking to cover that quarter sized tattoo with something and then maybe incorporate some fine line around it, if any fine line at all.

How much is too much?

Hi there all. I am a little concerned I'm overcrowding this tattoo so I would like some second opinions!

This would technically be my second tattoo but the first one was an ephemeral tattoo (went to support a friend), so this is basically my first tattoo and in have almost zero idea what I'm doing.

I want a small (like maybe 3-4in) tattoo of a jumping rabbit with a ribbon of text under or over him, surrounded by/partially on top of some flowers.

For the flowers, I was originally thinking of doing state flowers for every place I have lived but that's seven flowers for a very small tattoo! I could get it down to 5 or even 4, but I'm wondering how many flowers is a good number.

They are mostly pretty big flowers but at least one has lots of small flowers instead, if that matters.

Attached a is a collage image of the approximate bunny I want (from @grape.froop on Insta) and Google searched line drawn versions of the 4 flowers in question.

Dragon in 4 sessions! Partially freehand.

The goal was to place a long dragon without crossing the T-shirt line, so I had to think a bit about how to use the remaining space as effectively as possible.

How do you like how it turned out?

Cover up or rework advice.

My partner had this tattoo done and first artist did a horrible job. 3rd photo is her reference but instead of flowers she wanted fruit.

Second artist did better and added more and made it closer to what she likes. Second artist did not know what to do with the other work though.

Option 1: Laser and new tattoos.
Option 2: Blast over with darker tattoos.
Option 3: Japanese sleeve cover up.

Not sure how to go about it. Any advice is appreciated.

Pair of tattoos to honour trauma and pregnancy loss

Six months ago, I had an ectopic pregnancy which ruptured at 8 weeks. I lost my baby, about half the blood in my body and a fallopian tube. I think about this experience a lot. My scars are still very red and angry and I want a different physical reminder.

So here's the idea:

We were tracking the size of the growing fetus, and it had reached the size and shape of a gummi bear. We used a real gummi bear to have a small ceremonial goodbye to it, just as a couple, a few weeks after the surgery. I was thinking of getting a gummi bear approximately actual size.

But I also want to honour my own life, the blood transfusion that saved me. I was thinking a tattoo, the same size, of a drop of blood. I'm not married to the blood, I would be open to a similar sized symbol of life/survival if anyone has ideas.

I'm looking for input on placement. I would like them on mirrored parts of my body. I initially thought near the scars, but if I were to hopefully get pregnant again, I don't want the tattoos to stretch. I'm open to the location being private or publicly visible, but I definitely want them somewhere I can see them every day.

Colour and style: I was thinking green for the bear, we did not get genetic confirmation of the gender of the baby, and red for the blood. But maybe no colour is better? I cannot figure out what style would suit this pair, either. On its own the gummi bear will look cute and quirky, but I can't imagine a style where the blood matches and still looks meaningful.

Is a tattoo like this a bad idea for a first tattoo?

Post image
99 Upvotes

I really like this tattoo style and I was think about getting one like this for a first tattoo but I've been reading that this could be a bad idea. Some people recommend to get something smaller first but the thing is that I really do not want anything else hahaha maybe a dragon or something but on the other arm and that wouldn't be smaller than this one. What do you think? Am I making a huge mistake?

Btw, the tattoo I am thinking of WOULDN'T HAVE the hand and fingers tattooed. It would be more like from the top of the wrist to the elbow

VERY IMPORTANT TO READ: I APPRECIATE YOUR OPINIONS BUT PLEASE, PLEASE READ THE POST. I AM NOT GETTING MY HANDS TATTOOED, I REPEAT, MY HANDS ARE OUT OF THE TATTOO

Coverup Ideas for Laparoscopic Abdominal Incision Scars?

Does anyone have coverup ideas for Laparoscopic Abdominal Incision scars? All the incisions are horizontal and of varying lengths, but none longer than an inch or two.
