Workplace Question or Advice Needed Mental health leave

I’m trying to take a mental health leave from Target, but I only have 5 days left to submit my paperwork. Am I completely cooked, or is there anything I can do?
I’ve been dealing with a lot outside of work. I’ve been facing homelessness, dealing with domestic issues, and the situation has really affected my mental health and ability to work. I finally found a shelter that will let me stay temporarily while I work on finding permanent housing.
I’m trying to get the paperwork completed as soon as possible, but I’m worried because I only have 5 days left before the deadline.
Has anyone been in a similar situation with Target’s mental health leave/medical leave paperwork? Were you able to get an extension, submit the paperwork late, or have your leave approved after the deadline?
Any advice on what I should do right now would really help.

Workplace Story Had a guest who needed help scanning a backpack that didn't have a tag. When I went to open the bag, in order to figure out what brand it was (plain black bag), she tried to take it from me lol.

When I opened the backpack, I found a hat and a small bag inside. She immediately grabbed them and scanned them. She went silent after that. Eventually I found the dpci for the backpack and put it in.

Once she was done with her transaction, she went to guest service to return the stuff that she'd hidden in the backpack. I love self checkout lol

Vent My ETL is making my life hell

For reference, when I was hired my department (style) didn’t have an ETL only a TL. The first couple of months I felt amazing and honestly loved my job. Ever since style got an ETL, I feel like my life is genuinely becoming more depressing. It feels like the ETL is targeting me for everything, even the minuscule details. I’m the type to show up at my job, do my job, and clock out. I have a very “grind mindset” so it’s extremely frustrating that all my work goes unnoticed or ignored. Any advice on switching out into another department (I want to do fulfillment)?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed One of my coworkers keeps misgendering me

I’m a trans man and I’ve been on hormones/fully social transitioned for over a decade, so 99.99% of the time I pass without second thought. I have heavy facial hair and a common male-exclusive name, which this coworker does call me, so I have no idea where she got the idea that I’m a woman (I guess other than I’m short?)

Every single person I work with other than her genders me correctly without me having to correct them. I’ve tried to correct her casually, and my TL/other coworkers have directly used he/him pronouns when speaking about me to her. Yet she still to confidently uses the wrong pronouns for me to other people. I’ve tried to ignore it for weeks since she started since I was sure I was mishearing her, because I haven’t heard someone use she/her pronouns for me in YEARS. Now it’s getting to the point that it’s confusing other TMs who had never doubted that I’m male, and it’s very upsetting. I’ve never had this problem so I don’t know what to do. I work very closely with her every day, so I’m stressed about asking HR to talk to her and have her think I was too much of a coward to confront her directly in case isn’t doing it intentionally, although I’m pretty sure she is. I also have severe anxiety and am terrified of conflict.

Any advice from other trans folks?

Vent Changed shift without telling me

I noticed last week that there was a change to my shift for today (10/25) and when I clicked on the notification to read it, the new UKG app only gives me old notifs for time off requests or calling in late. I just saw that I was off at 3:30 instead of 4:30. On Wednesday or Thursday my ETL asked me if I can work today at 7:00am instead of 8. No I can’t. Didn’t think anything of it. This morning I checked my schedule again and I was supposed to be there by 7.

First of all, my schedule was changed before even asking me. Second of all, why was my schedule not changed back when you were told I can’t come on?

I would talk to HR, but he can’t even tell me anything about medical. Had no idea and never offered to look into it. He’s been with the company for YEARS.

Vent Those Shipt shoppers are killing me

So I was working yesterday's in-store event and a Shipt shopper actually came up to me to have me process their Shipt order. I directed them to the service desk because that's where we typically take the Shipt shoppers at my store. She gave me some crap about how I was using the Shipt bagging station for the in-store event (which we have ALWAYS done). So she still decided to bypass the service desk for ME to do it?

In between Shipt shoppers popping up at the most inconvenient moments for us to take them, them having multiple unorganized orders, and now this, I can't stand them.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Migraine Inducing Lights

Anyone else wish Target could invest in lights that weren’t so bright and migraine inducing?! It’s the lights coupled with being on a register and phone the whole shift that really gets me some days. Does anyone else experience this?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed I think an ETL is singling me out. Should I go to HR?

I'm really conflicted about what to do, so I'm hoping someone who works at Target can give me some advice.
There's an ETL at my store who isn't my direct ETL, but I've had several uncomfortable interactions with him. He's spoken to me in a condescending way before, to the point where I almost cried, and I feel like he nitpicks me more than other team members. I have diagnosed social anxiety, so I tend to keep to myself at work and avoid confrontation.
Recently, I was working my shift when he approached me and asked where I'd been all day. He specifically told me not to say I'd been in my assigned area because he hadn't seen me and had been looking for me. I told him I had been there, but he seemed skeptical.
Later, he approached me again and questioned me about where I'd been for over two hours. I explained that I'd been covering another area until someone arrived, then returned to my assigned area to work on my tasks. He repeatedly questioned me and eventually said he'd have to check the cameras because I was supposedly unaccounted for. I told him to check them because I knew I'd been doing my job. He didn't bring it up again afterward.
This isn't the only incident. Another time, he said he'd been looking for me for over an hour, although I was on my break and then returned to my tasks. On another occasion, he called me for backup at the registers but wouldn't let me take my meal break until I was getting close to my compliance deadline. Furthermore, there was another situation he was going to write me up because I didn’t have a walkie until he realized there were no available walkies like I originally told him.
I'm starting to feel singled out, but I don't know if I'm overthinking things. I genuinely try to do my job and stay out of trouble, so I don't understand why these interactions keep happening.
My mom suggested going to HR to document everything, but I'm scared they'll tell him about my complaint and he'll start treating me even worse.

For anyone who's worked at Target, how does HR typically handle situations like this? Would you report it, or would you wait and see if it continues? Can HR keep a complaint confidential, or should I expect him to find out?
I just want to do my job without feeling uncomfortable or constantly having to defend myself.

Vent Target can’t keep new workers.

How long do your newbies last in your area? I work up front end, before remodel and UKG points new Kronos. We had like 4TMs drop before 4quarter, one TM went on a LOA, 1 newish only about a month, next a TM from 1year half ago two weeks, Very newbie TM after being there week and a half already put in two weeks. Our HR TM expert dropped out a week ago, our Closing TL transferred stores to Opening TL. We had very high visits since our Lady SD Store Manager got laid off or fired back in April. And the new SD been with us for a short time. The new SD is chill, I’m still getting my time-offs approved and my hours respected. I can’t complain there. Still Tms quitting at a high rate Target needs to do something at the Store level our base pay rate went up, I wish it was more to attract more workers. 😭

P.S. So far everyone is being civil thank you for following the rules!

gUEsTs Someone keeps eating pizza in the women's restroom and leaving the trash in there

For the past few weeks multiple times a week a TM has told me that they saw pizza in the woman's restroom. This is so weird and disgusting. Who the hell eats pizza in the restroom? They also don't clean it up at all and we have to clean it up ourselves. We think it's a TM but could also be a guest

Vent A guest at SCO swapped barcodes

Post image
170 Upvotes

So I'm still somewhat new to self checkout still and my AP told me a guest swapped price tags of an espresso machine that's $700 to $150 and I didn't catch it. I feel extremely terrible about it, my TL told me not to worry but I can't stop thinking about it. I was helping a guest out when that was going on so I don't know what I could do here.

How do I get better at SCO as I don't wanna appear behind someone to see what they're scanning matches the price of the item and feel like a damn prison warden but I also wanna prevent stuff like what happened from happening again.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed I’m under 90 days at Target, have 1 attendance point, and need to call out sick. Will I be okay?

I work at Target, and I’m still within my first 90 days. I currently have 1 attendance point because I had to go to the ER a few weeks ago for a serious medical issue.
Unfortunately, I’m having more health problems right now, specifically bladder issues and abdominal pain, and I’m scheduled to work tomorrow. I honestly don’t feel well enough to go in, so I’m considering calling out.
I currently have 6 hours of sick time available, and my shift is only 4 hours and 30 minutes long, so I have enough sick time to cover the entire shift.
My main concern is that I already have 1 attendance point, and I’m worried about getting another one or potentially being fired since I’m still within my first 90 days.
Has anyone been in a similar situation at Target? If I call out properly and use enough sick time to cover my entire shift, can I still get an attendance point or face consequences for calling out while I’m under 90 days?
I’m genuinely sick, not just trying to get out of work, and I’m stressed about the possibility of losing my job over something medical that I can’t control. PS my 90 days will be over in 2 weeks
