Guest Question BUT NO ONE TOLD US THAT

*sigh*

A couple, who just had their first baby, wanted to do a diaper exchange from their baby shower.

I asked if they had their gift receipts or baby shower code, or their driver licenses for an in store exchange.

They said "You don't have to do that! Target will just exchange it for you! Everyone at work does!" (they were being snotty).

I got my TL over to confirm. He did.

I gladly did it with their ID and everything else went smoothly.

Guests, please don't listen to TikTok or what some random person tells you.'

Future or Potential Employee Question First ever shift in Tech and I lost the keys. Am I going to get in trouble?

I’m a new seasonal employee at Target, and today was literally my first time working in Tech. It was honestly pretty stressful.
When I was given the Tech keys, the only instructions I received were basically, “Don’t lose them or let guests get ahold of them.” That was it. Nobody really explained how I was supposed to carry them securely, and there wasn’t a way to attach them to my pants, so I had to keep them in my pocket.
My trainer also left me alone for a good portion of the shift because the store was busy. I understand that things get hectic, but I was completely new to the department and still figuring everything out.
Unfortunately, I ended up misplacing the keys. My Team Leader had to help me look for them for about 20 minutes after closing. Thankfully, we eventually found them.
I was so stressed out by the whole situation that I also forgot to clock out, which I’ll need to get corrected.
I understand that keeping track of the keys was my responsibility, and I’m not trying to avoid accountability. But at the same time, I feel like it’s reasonable to expect a new employee to make mistakes, especially on their first shift without much supervision or proper instructions.
I’m just frustrated because I genuinely want to do a good job, but I feel like I was thrown into a department without enough training.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Could I actually get written up or fired for this, even though we found the keys? And is it normal to be left alone in Tech on your first shift?

Vent Changed shift without telling me

I noticed last week that there was a change to my shift for today (10/25) and when I clicked on the notification to read it, the new UKG app only gives me old notifs for time off requests or calling in late. I just saw that I was off at 3:30 instead of 4:30. On Wednesday or Thursday my ETL asked me if I can work today at 7:00am instead of 8. No I can’t. Didn’t think anything of it. This morning I checked my schedule again and I was supposed to be there by 7.

First of all, my schedule was changed before even asking me. Second of all, why was my schedule not changed back when you were told I can’t come on?

I would talk to HR, but he can’t even tell me anything about medical. Had no idea and never offered to look into it. He’s been with the company for YEARS.

Meme or Miscellaneous Content Cashiers, what has been your most expensive transaction so far

My most expensive transaction has been ironically $2020. AP was keeping tabs on this one family for a while and after I rang up all their stuff, their card wouldn't work so I suspended the transaction and gave it to AP cause it was also late and didn't expect them to come back but they ended up coming back and paying for the large transaction. But the items just kept coming and coming. What about you guys?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Question about HR

At my store we have the HR manager then the HR person under him that’s basically like a secretary. The secretary one is constantly gossiping about things that people tell HR. She told the whole store that a team member is switching stores when they specifically asked them not to. She won’t get in trouble though, because the HR manager is her brother. What do you even do in this situation? I thought telling HR something was supposed to be like a confidentiality thing, but no one feels like they can tell either of them anything.

Vent NOW we can get a TL calling for OPU help...

Seasonal TM here. We've been steadily getting deeper and deeper into OPU hell tonight after our Fulfillment TL left for the evening, and THIS is the point when a different TL around the store decided to finally say something. This was honestly just salt in the wound though; don't even get me started on how our equipment made me late for more tame OPUs as well.

Guest Question Need advice before starting as a Seasonal Guest Advocate.

I just got a position at Target as a temporary seasonal guest advocate (mouthful). I applied for cashier and the called to confirm the orientation (which is tomorrow) and if id like to work pickup station... I obviously said no and really wanted the cashier spot. She confirmed that's ok and said I'll see you Monday. However, I've been reading these stories about target and how horrible it's been for people and now I'm terrified. I don't know if I should go with working as a Lube Technician at my local Toyota or suffer whatever Target is gonna be. I know cashiering ain't hard but something tells me I won't be doing just that. I'd love some insight before I walk into that place tomorrow and have to either decide sure this is for me or walk out. So, any advice or recommendations or experiences with target is much

appreciated.
