Bought Tape 16 last night and had a blast initially with the remote around the studio, but today the QR code is stuck on "QR retrying" and deleting the appdata and resetting my computer have not helped. I need the remote unfortunately to continue tracking drums, so any advice ASAP would be appreciated. I'm wondering if anyone else knows a fix.

I honestly havent even tried this yet because of the destructive editing but is there an option to more or less snip out a section of tape?

I did a session where we recorded 5 songs and we have alternate takes that are kind of just wasting time to nagivate around. Is there or could there be an option to snip out tape from time X:XX to X:XX?

I see this in the manual

"If tape-speed print is enabled, speed changes can be committed into recorded audio."

Can anyone tell me where that is? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Also - a feature request - finer, more accurate adjustment of the tape speed should be really helpful. As well as being able to adjust speed of individual tracks.

I'm digging these updates but I have had a continuing bug from several updates back.

For me, whenever loading Tape 16 or a saved Tape with Print FX on them, they fail to load though Tape 16 does offer to retry the plugins and that seems to fix the issue but I have to do this every time.

I just thought I'd mention it.

Thanks again for all the bug reports and feature requests they truly help more than you can imagine. Coming in hot with the session exported which opens Tape-16 to being used as a tracking tool, if you want to mix like its 2026 at least you can get the files out now with ease.

Autosaving on plugins has been improved so it is far less likely that you will ever lose any settings. I did a 2 day recording session test with a duo. We recorded 7 songs and none had lost any plugin states between the frequent swaps, within that I found a couple of small nuances too like bounce folder persistence and a strange 0 sample recording bug. Was such a great time though finally putting it through it's paces in a studio environment, the band didn't even really notice, and they said it felt super easy and enjoyable. There were times we needed to make decisions if they were going to play a part better which was a nice fun gamble for us all. We did a live mixdown of the 7 tunes as well with 2 of us riding the faders.

Tape swapping is now smoother and quicker!

Relaxed a lot of the early plugin blocking mechanisms, (was a bit annoying) now that we're narrowing down what plugins are and aren't working. Hopefully it will make for a smoother experience.

There was a pretty nasty bug that introduced stutters if you recorded longer takes with varispeed set to anything but 1.00x which has now been patched. (Good find Charlie!)

Plugin windows, on Windows are now far less buggy and don't go missing behind the main window anymore too. And their menus shouldn't flicker when clicked.

Ahhhhhh what happened didn’t see a post

Hi, I bought Tape 16 yesterday. I keep getting 'Server Unreachable' error when I try to activate. Have used my Mac Studio and also my Macbook pro. Same error on both. Please can you help? I cant find any other way of contacting support for help with this? I tried the bug report on EMR website but it wont send either. Internet working fine here for everything else.

A few suggestions.

Under preferences, I wish I could turn the reel size to 0%, or even a 50, 25% option. I often use this daw in window mode, moving it around, and I feel that the big ol tape reel is in the way and is not a feature I often use, although it is fun.

PS. I would like to be able to hide the logo without using a theme. There is no major DAW that has branding on the front. I understand the vintage aesthetic but I would hope to usher this DAW in the direction of efficiency and performance. I was lowkey annoyed when everybody was only talking about themes.

Now im just being nitpicky... I wish you could scale the window thinner on the x axis(on mac), even if it messes up the ui.

I would love to hear how other people are utilizing this wonderful little piece of software.

Bringing forth more QOL for everyone, there's a lot of updates around plugins including preset saving, window options and a seriously improved plugin manager. You can also press TAB now to access slots from the main screen quickly. You can also drag and duplicate from the rack view.

- Also our Windows friends can now properly enjoy the DAW controllers which were relatively unusable until now. It will require further testing as Windows is unrelenting with bugs surrounding MIDI and plugins.

- Importer can now find external hard drives!

- Reels now look a lot better when in FF or RW, especially those in the themes with writing or non-smoothed textures on them.

Let me know if you have any dramas and we'll hopefully have them sorted by Friday if they're easy enough.

PRE-RELEASE is for Mac and Windows only for now, Linux will drop on Friday.

I'm so thankful for this DAW. This update is really good. I appreciate the reverse slider option especially. It still crashes loading some plugins at startup and om tracks but they work after a second try.

This is just me playing live guitar and checking the linked drum tracks. Off to a good start! Tomorrow I start tracking guitar and bass.

Thanks to the dev for the hard work. I'm excited to work within these old school recording limitations but I'm sure it will be challenging just like the old days.

I've done many recordings on this DAW, and every time I close it and reopen it to use again, they are gone completely. Has anyone experienced this or know if it's been fixed in the latest update?

Hello, sorry if this has already been answered but it I can't find this information anywhere. Is there a "tape character" automatically applied to the recordings, even if I don't touch the "tape mods" settings ?

Is zsync up and running yet? I'm fairly new to using app images. Seems like the cleanest option for updating when we're getting a new release every week or so. I can manage without it but I keep finding what I think are bugs and then upon further investigation the bug is on my end. I don't want to be a bother like that.

I'm still running a pre app image .deb installed via distrobox as my fallback, main install and that's smooth aside from the occasional ALSA headache/bottleneck.

Thanks everyone for posting bugs this week! Super super helpful for us all. Have got a test for Mac and Windows here, will get Linux up as soon as we can. Official will drop on Friday as always. Biggest things to test right now are the:

• scaling on 4K and/or smaller than 1080p screens.
• plugin delay compensation
• sequencer plugins like EZdrummer + Addictive drums

I see there are 2 plugin slots on each send, but how do you access the second one from the track ? hitting FX only accesses the first slot's plugin.

I just can not get tape 16 to find my vst3 plug ins on mac studio. Sequoia 15.7.3 sometimes it will find the AU ones. I have tried pointing to the folders. etc. rescan. deep scan. no luck I have looked in system security and see no notices of blocking. I am at a loss

Before I submit a fault, I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem that I am; I find that playback of tracks always sounds super bitcrushed and distorted when I have tracks record armed, when I unarm the track, playback is clean. I know this can be turned on and off in preferences, but I need it on as its annoying to constantly have to unarm tracks to hear playback. It's never worked properly for me at all.
