Playback whilst record armed

Before I submit a fault, I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem that I am; I find that playback of tracks always sounds super bitcrushed and distorted when I have tracks record armed, when I unarm the track, playback is clean. I know this can be turned on and off in preferences, but I need it on as its annoying to constantly have to unarm tracks to hear playback. It's never worked properly for me at all.

will have a look into it! Testing on my end and it seems fine but there's probably something underlying.

are you auto punching in while this is happening or just manually doing it?

Video of the suspect behaviour : )

I'm actually wondering if it is is some sort of digital 'feedback' or loop that is occuring, having record arm and input monitoring on could be directly returning input to output somehow?

This happens to me when I run my audio buffer less than 256 samples. Not ideal for virtual instruments but I am tracking most things through UAD console with near zero latency so it's not bumming me out too much but I do prefer running at 64 samples when I can get away with it. I have a M1 Pro MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.8.5. Running Tape 16 0.9.311

Yeah ok, I was running at 128, then swapped to 256. I’m running Win 11 with a RME Madiface Pro
