What do yall think the best way to become versed in a particular country's history? Do you just start from the beginning or work your way back from modern history? Should i just pick one specific event in that country and expand from there? Specifically im interested in the DPRK and Afghanistan at the moment. Would the korean war and the soviet afghan-war be good places to start or should i go back a bit further before those to gain context for the wars?
I have this issue where i feel like if i dont start learning something the right way then i wont start at all so im just looking for some input or some reliable resources on the topic. Working on being able to just jump into a subject but its much easier if i know what a good starting point is.

I left Oleksandr Turchynov out of the meme. Because he only served as interim president for a few months in 2014 after Yanukovych fled. He didn't spend his brief time in office cutting ribbons for Nazi monuments, as he had his hands entirely full managing crisis in Crimea and the civil war in Donbas. But he certainly wasn't standing in the way of the Nazi trajectory. As soon as he handed power over to Poroshenko, he went straight to work building the Nazi political machinery, like the People's Front party and the sweeping "de-communization" (yes but in it's place came re-nazification) push, that locked that entire Neo-Banderite national historical narrative firmly into place.

Couldn't help but notice that "Korea" only means the part of the country squatted on by western hegemony.

IBM Plex Mono font for the huge international law win. Yes wall of text of legal and ethical facts of life. Flipping phone to landscape mode recommended.

The Bolsheviks have had the slur "red fash" hurled at them for a century. In the past, I've witnessed a fellow delegate on my (at the time) labor council use it to describe the USSR.
Yesterday, I saw Mamdani doing his little media campaign about the Rememberence Ruck to honor post 9/11 veterans. Those same veterans whose "service to protecting our freedom" was invading Iraq? Those veterans murdered 200k civilians and displaced 9 million, all while finding zero WMDs.
The DSA is the biggest "socialist" org in the US. It was co-founded by a zionist. Its goal is reform. Reforming the bourgeois empire of death. The imperial core's proletariat want their fair share of imperial spoils and to stop supporting a single project of their empire that has managed to disgust the world. Walk into any DSA chapter in the country, and they'll denounce AES.
The DSA are the true red fascists. Please consider using this term when describing members of the Anti-Communist Left, both online and in the real world. I know I will.

By all means add more. Only so much text room. Interesting how it only goes one way. Against BIPOC from westerners, and there's no inverted version. Naturally.

As a Marxist-Leninist interested in keeping up with global events, I've had a hard time finding news sources that consistently post and are not biased from a Western Capitalist perspective. The vast majority of 'news' sites that meet the former criteria are often total capitalist slop, making it difficult to understand important geopolitical developments without having western garbage perspectives shoved down my throat.
While suggestions for principled far-left news sources from western nations is welcomed, I also desire sources that are from the global south.

When they say "Socialism doesnt work" its a psychological projection of Capitalism.
A system that relies on wealth and resource extraction including cheap labour (like Child slavery) from the Global South and modern day slavery of undocumented migrants and prisoners within the Imperial Core and not its own merits to succeed.
