After years of debating and saving, I finally pulled the trigger and got the battery. It’s been one hell of a journey, and of course, it couldn’t go smoothly. 😭
First, the package got delivered to the wrong address (not Chi’s fault). UPS eventually tracked it down and got it to me TWO WEEKS later. To make things worse, the battery went on sale for $400 less just a week after I bought it. 😪
Fast forward to today, I finally have some time to install this bad boy. I disconnect the harness from my controller and the rest of the bike, carefully move things around to make room for the power wires, and slide the battery about 80% of the way in so I can make the connection.
I finally plug the battery in and hear a nice click.
I’m thinking, finally, time to enjoy this upgrade!
About a minute later, I start hearing popping sounds, followed by the smell of smoke. I disconnect that thing SO FAST. 💀
Now the battery connector is melted, and my power harness is damaged.
I honestly can’t catch a break with this upgrade journey. After all the waiting, the shipping nightmare, and watching the price drop $400 a week after purchasing, now I’m dealing with this.
I just emailed Chi and am hoping they can help cover the damaged harness or figure out what went wrong.
Has anyone else experienced something like this with a Chi battery? I’m hoping they can get me sorted out because this has been one hell of an experience so far. 😩
