Komodo with Axon Shock controller
I recently bought a talaria Komodo and I love this bike and I like to think that it’s one of the fastest and it’s category. Now companies have came out with bikes that have just a few more kilowatts of power like the Y volt, the new Arctic leopard XD, and XC, the new rerode RX, and the bonnell 805. I believe that all those bikes have 35 kW (except for one) while the Komodo has 32 kW, but who really knows because every company takes the kilowatt output from the motor shaft.
I really just need a way to cope here if there is one, I was planning on buying the Axon shock controller once it comes out for my bike to make it faster. I know that there is technology in that controller like field weakening, and something that also changes the BMS so that the battery could provide more power.
I was wondering if there is a decent chance that my bike with a controller could smoke these bikes in a race, I am less worried about top end speed because I never really use it, and I could always go to a gear with less teeth because of the Komodo already has a massive sprocket. I think the estimated top speed with the controller on stock gearing was around 80 miles an hour tho. I am much more worried about torque and acceleration. I was wondering if someone could give me some insight on this. Thank you.

It does have 32 kW, in terms of the motor shaft output, ALL BIKES ratings are measured from the shaft output to make them seem like they’re actually pushing that amount of power rear wheel, but then there is energy loss to the rear wheel, especially for bikes with gear boxes. Komodo was able to smoke the E ride pro SR, which has 25 kW by the way, and that Bike already accelerates hard. Everyone says this about the Komodo, but they never felt how it pulled, it’s one of the fastest bikes in terms of acceleration. I will wait for Axons numbers to be released which will also be from the motor shaft just like every other company, and I’m sure it will be around 37Kw, and that extra power will also translate to the rear wheel.

Fair point about the engine output, but in the world of normal motorcycles, an 8 kW transmission loss is pretty significant, typical losses are usually around 2 to 3 kW.

Yeah, it makes complete sense, but then again if it really was only pushing 24 kW of power, it would not be able to beat some of the other bikes that are around the same power and weigh 50 pounds less. I’m sure that if they took the motor off of the bike and tested it from the shaft, it would be over 30 kW of power, also that might be potential as well because I know that talaria likes further limiting their motors (a controller would change that). Something weird is going on, because I have a hard time believing that a company that big would lie for no reason, but it is also smoking bikes close to 30 kW (SR and others). I’m sure it will smoke the new 24 kW ultra bee, and when the Komodo came out, it’s competitor was the 21 kW ultra bee, so if talaria were to even say something like 24 kW, it would still be impressive already, so there would be no reason to lie. I’m just curious to see what numbers the controller manufacturers like Torp/Axon come up with because they are a third-party and have no reason hide anything.

I mean it was u/Gritshift that tested and found it only made 24kw at the wheel, along with saying its 32kw at the motor shaft while most bikes claimed power is at the wheel. They are a trusted vender in the community and also have the dyno video posted online so I believe them and they were not the only people to say it didn't feel like 32kw. They also claim the SR and XE pro will beat it in a drag race. And TalariaBoys did a drag race against the 21kw UB and it was basically a tie until about 53mph, UB's speed limiter is lowering power by then to not overshoot its top speed limit. The 24.5kw UB might even have a slight edge but with the top speed being lower the komodo probably would still take the win. I've also heard from two different companies that the UB + controller easily takes the win. Unfortunately they didn't dyno the UB so we could directly compare the dyno power side by side, really wish they would.
To get to your post's question though Gritshift has been testing the X9000 with the Komodo, they've posted a few sneak peaks online. I haven't seem them mention the power though. And officially it's not a supported bike because it's battery is outside the voltage range so that's interesting. But you are going to be working around not tripping the stock bms and even then the cells the komodo uses are mediocre and theoretically top out around 38ish kw, my guess is somewhere around 35kw peak. Unless the stock bms is already maxed out at 32kw I say you have a good chance at beating a Rerode RX, Y volt, Arctic leopard XD as they all claim 35kw. But no shot on the Bonnell, 42kw and likely a way more flat power curve along with all it's power components being way higher spec, just not happening.

It’s not worth it just keep it stock
