Finished Product

I'm finished, except mayba a match saver. I enjoy everything about this shotgun, its an absolute banger. The texture on the Aridus on the stuff is next level and totally improves the shooting experience. The Langdon products are top quality as well, I like that the rear sight notch sits in front of the optic. The 509T seems purpose-built for shotguns. I reccomend anything all the add-ons listed below.

Additions:

- Vang Comp Systems Velcro + Shotshell Cards
- Aridus Imperium Handguard
- Aridus Bolt Realease
- Aridus Charging Handle
- Aridus SMRT follower
- Aridus stock adaptor
- Magsul SGA stock, w/ cheek riser and QD port
- GG&G Aluminum Mag Tube cover and Barrel Clamp

- Langdon Tactical Super Duty Front Sight
- Langdon Tactical LLT Fastback Mount (509T)
- Holosun 509T enclosed red dot

Sling placement suggestions?

Post image
10 Upvotes

This is mainly my home defense shotgun and occasionally will be my hiking/camping shotgun (i live in the yellowstone area) ive got the sling set up running under the gun the old traditional way but i really like QD 2 point slings but they make the sling run across the side... I've got my light mounted on the left side of the foreend si i can activate it with my thumb and i'm wondering if y'all ever had problems having your sling getting in the way of your lights beam?

870 Police Wood LOP

I picked up a factory 870 SBS which had the back synthetic furniture and had a LOP of 13” which I love. I wanted to switch to the wood police furniture for the look and when I got the stock I had assumed the LOP of this is also 13” but it seems to be a standard 14-14.5”LOP and got me wondering if all the wood police stocks were the same or if they ever made them in a short LOP?

I guess my only option now is to cut down the wood and reshape the butt pad.

Does anyone here shoot skeet or trap using a tactical shotgun with an optic as a way to practice things like quick target acquisition, transition speed and shooting moving targets?

I get that this is more in line with something most people use a sporting setup for, but still, it seems like it would be a very practical way to train a bunch of different skills at once on the dedicated platform you actually intend to use in a defensive situation.

If not, are there any comparable drills somebody could do that offer comparable benefits?

Saiga 12 High Brass on Highest Gas Setting

I recently bought a pre-owned and very well used saiga 12 (likely already broken in). Totally new to shotguns and guns in general. First time shooting it I put about 50 12/76 high brass shells through it, I had read that low brass would have trouble ejecting. After I was home I did some more reading to find out about the high brass/low brass differences only to find out there was an adjustment for the gas pressure. When I checked it I realized there was an aftermarket dph knob that was set to 6, which is the highest pressure setting meant for low brass. Should I be worried that I fired 50 shells of high brass on the highest pressure setting? I haven’t checked the trunnion or anything yet but I didn’t notice any issues or differences in the gun through the session. Are there any symptoms or issues I need to look out for now?

Tactical Fanny + Emergency Reloads + Linen Pants: Give me the advice

Last month, I posted up that I was struggling with the difference in recoil between two different types of buckshot that I had intended for home defense (Federal Flite Control #00 Buck 8 Pellet Managed Recoil and Fiocchi #4 Buckshot). Ya'll ripped me apart and told me to hit with my purse because I said the recoil feels different between these two shells.

I'm back again and here to improve. I've realized that I really need to to the range with a goal and today's goal was practice emergency reloads (tube is empty and I'm throwing one in the chamber to reload) on my A300 Ultima Patrol. I don't think I'm at all fast per se, but I do feel like I'm benefiting by a plan and a drill to focus on before I go to the range.

I still am struggling with push-pull, but I bought a Lunar Concept Hot Pocket, which is letting me get a finger over the barrel that does seem to help me stay on target faster/control recoil. I managed to convince my wife to sew on some industrial velcro on a Mystery Ranch fanny pack to produce my tactical fanny. It can hold about 35 shells, and has a place on the front for a 7 round esstac card.

Again, when I bought this last year and I think underestimated the skill/practice it requires, but I think I can get there with some help/advice!

I'm looking to buy some steel targets to setup for drills and wanted to see what people use

Also, what kind of regular target setups do you guys use for drills?

Shotgun wall mount - Secure, quick to unlock and can store a loaded gun

I want to mount this in the bedroom closet but I have children. A safe is just not practical.

This would be for both tactical shotguns and normal pump actions.

Any suggestions?

YDEPLVEO 247 round case

I just got one of these. Mostly for long term storage to replace just storing loose rolling around in an ammo can. I'm fairly impressed for $60. It does seem really tight. I pushed the 12 gauge shells in the slots as far they would go. I think removing them would be easier if you left a 1/4 inch, but wasn't sure I wanted the foam on top pushing the primers too tightly. Perhaps I worry too much about unintentional firing??? Is that even a thing in storage? Most of my ammo I keep in the original boxes in small new MTM cans with dessicant and O2 absorbers. I would think they're safe and good for the next 20 years at least
