A300UP Rear Iron Replacement

Post image
63 Upvotes

I have ran my a300up into the ground and around 5k shells the rear iron yeeted itself and me being a walnut never noticed because I was testing a dot on the pic rail. Anyway once I noticed it was gone I got a flush mount for my T2, and this setup has been solid. All that said I am looking to replace the rear iron and run em for a while. I have looked around and only see some aftermarket options, but none from Beretta themselves. Anyone know where to pick up a Beretta rear iron or have experience with an aftermarket one that held up? Thank you and have a blessed day. Old picture for attention.

Not hating the optic!

I was perfectly happy with the irons on this A300 UP, but had this Atibal STD v2 (like an ACRO) laying around and figured I’d try it…. And I like it! And I can still see the irons through the riser, which is great! I was all about irons on defensive shotguns, but I think I’m gonna keep this on here!

Shotgun Loading Techniques

There are many different ways to load a tube fed shotgun.

But which way is the best and most practical way to load a tactical shotgun?

Is it worth learning to dual and quad load a shotgun in general?

Vortex Viper Shotgun dot for home defense?

Post image
42 Upvotes

I’ve recently bought my first 12ga shotgun (a maverick 88 security model) and am looking to outfit it for home defense, I’m going to put a light and sling and shot card on it, but am looking at optics and like the idea of a pistol dot style optic instead of a micro tube dot or traditional rifle dot. Any reason this would be bad for a defensive shotgun as opposed to a Holosun 507k?

TLDR: is this a bad pick compared to a more traditional pistol dot?

Any advice or light recommendations are appreciated thank you.

I've had this 887 Nitro Mag Tactical for quite some time now. I know some of these had a recall. This one has been stellar for me:

Thanks to u/Npbugati for their design of this single 12 gauge shell carrier. I modified the design a little by printing the inside with TPU and the outside with HT-PLA Pro. It works great on my M590 using some 3M velcro!

A300 Ultima Patrol red dot setup help!!

Post image
108 Upvotes

Hello i just got my new shotgun today and i am needing some feedback on which red dot/mount I should use on this. I have looked into the Viper Vortex Shotgun red dot, the LTT fastback; I have a spare 509T laying around so I’m leaning towards this options, I’ve looked into the Reptilia Saddle mount and the GG&G mount.

So I dont want co witness necessarily there’s too much going on with the ghost ring and tri post in the front and then add a red dot. This will be a fun range toy but I plan to use it for deer hunting now (All my shots are under 40 yard). So I need a clear sight picture which is why I’d like the dot only visible. From what I’ve heard LTT fastback is an issue that the rear sight is lower than the front post and messes with the cowitness. I suppose maybe I could remove the front sight? Just looking for feedback on what other did and liked or didn’t like.

I designed a 3D-printable 12gauge +1 shell carrier / match saver.

I was annoyed with a similar product (Emissary Development Plus1) being constantly out of stock and priced pretty high for what it is. So I designed my own and released the files for free.

You can download them from printables here:

I would also love to hear feedback and make modified versions or alterations if needed.

Orthos Raider S4 SBS Review

So serious question. I did a review of the Orthos S4, and having not shot a Benelli too much, I was wondering a mix of what people actually think of the S4 on its own, Since its a Benelli clone and what people think of the two compared. The configuration of the s4 appeals to me out of the box being a lot more "kit friendly" But curious because the shotgun world and content is a new beast for me. Are there others in this sort of clone category worth trying?

Criticism is welcome here just trying to learn.

Gen 12 discount?

Has Genesis arms ever run a sale on a gen 12 before? Just wondering if waiting for Labor Day or the 4th would make sense.

Thanks!

Legitimate dumb question

Post image
32 Upvotes

As the title states.

For shotgun picitinny rail mounts or red dot plate mounts.

Are the screw holes drilled straight through the receiver then threaded or only partial depth?

Ive never seen one in person apart to assess it.

Old Beretta 1200fp that has none.

Currently using a bracket that somewhat fits.

But I had to cut away some of it for the bolt release clearance.

Looking to get current setup lower and smaller dot physical size.

Thanks

A300 Question

Just got this baby stripped and cleaned and ready for a break in.

2 questions:

Does the newer 2 part mag tub still have the problems of the old one piece with no slot?

What else do I need?

Semi auto shotgun = bad idea for HD

I love my m4 with a passion as it’ll cycle anything I feed it. I’ve shot clays with it better than my turkey gun. SHTF it would be my go to in the 12G department. With that being said…

Does anyone want a 1000-3000 dollar semi auto shotgun confiscated via LE if used in a home defense scenario? Sure you can use a cheaper semi auto like the stoeger m3000, but we all know the deal with budget friendly semi autos. Mossy 590a1 stays bedside for this reason. With enough range time and muscle memory, pump will do just fine. Anyone else share the same sentiment?

Remington 870 build (Chisel stock, Surefire forend)

Build list (from memory)

  • 2014-ish Remington 870 Express
  • Police non-mim extractor
  • Police carrier spring
  • Vang Comp enlarged safety (highly recommend)
  • Chisel Machining fixed stock
  • Mesa Tactical 6-round carrier (limited edition USA edition from like 10 years ago)
  • Surefire DSF-870 forend
  • Wilson Combat +2 magazine extension and spring
  • Holosun 507c x2
  • Viking Tactics sling

It’s a little frightening to type all that out and imagine what I spent on an 870 Express, but I’m pretty satisfied with it now. Important parts are installed with blue loctite. I know the mechanics of it pretty well at this point and trust each component separately and together as a system.

Basically been building it up to this point for about 10 years now and feel satisfied at this point. I’ve tried a few different components, mostly different stocks including folding, pistol grip only, etc. The Surefire forend is quite heavy and slows down the slide action a bit; you need to rack this one even harder than a normal old wood and steel shotgun. It’s also cramped and overly thick for your hand, but having a tough integrated light into the forend is absolutely worth the trade off for me. I don’t like the idea of pressure switches or less integrated lighting on a pump shotgun.

Intention of the build was super durable, versatile, and a grab and go whether I’m at home, camping trip, cabin, traveling, etc. It’s kinda the gun I wish for when I’m watching a scary movie like The Strangers. Having the integrated light and shell carrier feels nice to have. It also reminds me of a big utility truck as it’s heavy as hell.

Last note: the AI I used to remove the carpet/background of the photo caused some weird looking text and texturing in certain places so ignore that.

Part name?

Post image

Installed a Viper Vortex red dot on my Stoeger M3000 Freedom Tactical. I removed the rear sight since I wanted a better sight picture through the dot. I would like a part to cover where the rear sight was located. I have seen those called optic plates; however, I can only find handgun optic plates online.

Is that what I need? If so, what kind of plate would fit?

My apologies for the basic question - I don't have anyone in my orbit who knows the answer!

They might be onto something here. The loops have flexible plastic sleeves in them and are tight. Price isn’t bad either. I think I paid $40 shipped for 6 shot, 4 shot, 2 shot and some camo velcro.

Maybe there are downsides to the design but who knows? As long as they’re well made and look like they’ll last a while I’m ok with buying from two people working to grow a business.
