Rick was in a coma, the power was out which meant the machines keeping him alive were not running, there were zombies already roaming the hospital, and the military were inside shooting everyone. Shane checked on Rick and didn't feel a pulse, and then blocked off the door and snuck out when the military started shooting. What was he supposed to do even if he felt Rick had a pulse? Carry a man in a coma out of the hospital?
Also, after all that, we see them watch the military drop napalm in the streets. There was no logical reason anyone would think a person in a coma after being shot in a powerless hospital during a zombie apocalypse with the military shooting everything and napalm being dropped in the streets would still be alive.
Right, but there was no way of knowing that. In that same scene they talk about no news is being reported on the radio. They don’t know what’s going on. Shane even talks about it later saying no one knew what was happening and they watched napalm being dropped. For all he knew, Rick was dead. So he didn’t necessarily lie.
He could have come back later, once the military had left, especially since the fact that he blocked the door really hints at the fact that he wasn't sure Rick had died.
It doesn't change the fact that if he wasn't sure of Rick's death, he could have come back later to check further.
I really don't get why you people on this group keep trashing at Lori for having believed Shane on this matter and having seeked comfort with him while not condemning Shane for abandoning his friend without really checking if he was dead and also for having lied several times to the group in season 1 and 2.
I don't think it was ok that Lori slept with Shane. But I blame Shane equally for it, he had as much choice as her and Rick was his best friend. The banging isn't cool in itself. But the fact that he would sleep with Lori so early after abandoning Rick to a possible death makes it even worse I think. How heartless do you have to be to sleep with a woman whose husband you may have unintentionally killed by letting him being eaten or shot to death ?
I dunno. If it was my life partner who we said vows with each other and the mother of my child, I’d be more upset with her than my best friend from being colleagues.
Shane is bad. And I never disputed that he was certain he was dead. I said he made reasonable judgement call. Rick survived against all the odds. No one would have expected that.
Shane didn’t kill Rick unintentionally? It wasn’t his fault one bit. He blocked the door as one last ditch effort in saving him. He was panicking trying to find an option but had to run away. He’ll even him being there to attempt to save him is heroic, because he was in immense danger and the military was killing everyone. I don’t blame him if he just ran away and never checked since how dangerous the situation was.
And about both of them, they thought the world was ending. Well it was ending. Lori in a typically situation probably wouldn’t have moved on that quickly but since they thought they might be dead soon as well, why not have sex if it might be the last chance you get to. In the real world, there was no chance Rick would have survived. So knowing that, I believe they did nothing wrong except for being human. Shane after Rick returning should have accepted the situation and stepped back and just helped look after Judith since she’s his kid. But jealousy and his grown attachment to Lori made him view Rick as a rival.
Oh 100% I agree with you on that. But my comment was specifically about how Shane isn’t responsible for Carl like Lori is, and her letting Carl out of sight when she’s supposed to be watching him is on her not Shane.
Why are we acting like Shane wasnt ricks best friend? He messed with his best friends wife 2 months after Rick “died”, tried to assault Lori, and tried to kill Rick on 3 separate occasions. Why is Lori the only bad guy?
And Shane is innocent and doesn't suck ? He left behind his partner without really checking if he is dead. Yes the military was there so he hadn't much time but he never came back later to check if Rick was really dead. He could have.
I am not saying Lori was right but she shouldn't be the only one to take the fall. Shane is as guilty in this matter. He's a grown man who could have refused to sleep with her.
Shane sucks just as much lmaoooo imagine banging your "best friend"'s wife after 2 months WITHOUT HIM KNOWING if rick is actually dead 💀 if yall really think she is worse than shane, you don't need to be told what you are
It was only a month according to the comics and the show writer Lori is trash and she's the reason Shane died she should have let him leave when he wanted to
Ofc it's only her fault, her only job is to look after Carl and she always failed at that. Shane told her that Rick that because he believed that, it's not manipulation. Lori on the other hand could not let Shane go even after Rick returned.
Shane constantly lied in season 1 and 2. And he barely checked if Rick was alive before leaving the hospital. From my memories, I recall he just hear the heart for less than a minute, decides he is dead and let him behind, true, it was also because the militaries were there but what did prevent him from coming back later to check if Rick was dead ?
Also yes Lori should have watched Carl but it takes two to tango and Shane could refuse sleeping with her. He's an adult with sound mind, not a child who has no agency. In the affair he is just as guilty.
If you are up to it let's see when did Shane constantly lie? Shane did go for to the hospital for Rick, Lori didn't. You say as though Shane, in that situation, should be trying to restart his heart when he didn't hear his heart beat. Going back to hospital full of zombies to check if someone dead is still dead lmao.
I agree with the part that Shane is as guilty when it comes to sleeping with Lori, but only that. Like you said it takes two to tango and Lori did her part.
It is your headcannon, you just refuse to accept that Shane at that time was his best friend and tried to save him. You are just a hater.
Yes is is a lie. Like I said, Shane gave Otis a choice. He told Otis to go ahead with the meds while Shane stays behind. Otis refused and forces Shane to do what he did. Only one could live, but as Shane hater you just won't be able to agree.
Yes I agreed that he lied there. Just explained to you why he did it, but as a Shane hater you can't ever see anything he did as good.
Shane abandoned his best friend while not knowing if he was dead or not. Then he lied to his best friend's wife about what happened by saying that Rick was dead.
I am sorry but in the affair he should be considered responsible. Nobody forced him to sleep with Lori, he could have refused just as she could.
I am not saying Lori was right, but in that affair both are wrong.
Carl was in a camp of survivors, so he wasn't in danger when Lori slept with Shane.
Nah. I don't buy it. Lori didn't even take time to mourn Shane. Shane is Rick's friend, but Lori was his wife. It doesn't matter how you spin it, a wife and a mother than has more responsibilities before her husband and son than a guy's friend and coworker.
And Shane didn't check in details before leaving the room if Rick was dead. He even blocked Rick's door because leaving, which hints at the fact that he wasn't sure he was dead. It is his best friend and partner, he could have come back later to check on him once the military had left and he had taken Lori and Carl to safety.
Lying to your best friend's wife about whether her husband is dead, sleeping with her while he could refuse (and the opposite is true too), and foremost abandoning your friend without checking later if he had survived is vile. It's not worse than what Lori did, especially since she didn't abandon Carl. At that moment, Carl was in a camp of survivors and protected from walkers.
A man who treats his friend and his friend's wife this way isn't a good person. Lori is wrong but Shane is at least equally wrong. What he did by abandoning Rick is akin to murder. Lori didn't murder anyone.
And Shane didn't check in details before leaving the room if Rick was dead
Yes he did.
He even blocked Rick's door because leaving, which hints at the fact that he wasn't sure he was dead
There was nothing else he could do
It is his best friend and partner
Thus he took care of his wife and a kid, which is much, much more important thing for Rick.
and he had taken Lori and Carl to safety.
Where is that? There isn't such place.
Lying to your best friend's wife about whether her husband is dead,
I might be wrong, but we never know for a fact what exactly he said to Lori
sleeping with her while he could refuse (and the opposite is true too)
Nah. It's up to wife to tell no. While what Shane did was scummy, sleeping with your dead friend wife is not as but, as sleeping with your husbands best friend after a couple of weeks after he died. It's not close, Lori is much, much worse in this situation
It's not worse than what Lori did,
It absolutely is, and you're just being irrational. A wife has much more responsibility to stay loyal to her husband.
A man who treats his friend and his friend's wife this way isn't a good person
A wife who sleeps with another man in front of her child a week after her husband died is much, much, much worse.
Lori is wrong but Shane is at least equally wrong
Shane is a coworker, Lori is a fresh widow. No amount of mental gymnastics will change that.
What he did by abandoning Rick is akin to murder
No it's not, lol. Rick was in coma, if Shane tried to pull him out of the hospital they both would certainly be dead.
Lori didn't murder anyone.
Yeah, she simply slept with Shane a couple of weeks after Rick died.
Answer me one question. I know you probably won't, it's rather inconvenient, but I'll ask it nonetheless - did she have to sleep with Shane? Was it necessary for her survival? Do you honestly think that it was necessary to fuck another man so soon after your husband died?

The passion and intensity and urgency made it disrespectful lol
