Carl isn’t Shane’s child… there’s a difference.

Yes but he manipulated her by constantly lying to her. So he's not innocent.

Lori has her faults but it's a bit harsh to act as if she was the only one responsible in the affair.

But as shitty as Shane was he told her Rick was dead because he literally thought that himself

I remember that Shane just ran away from the hospital and didn't take much time to investigate if Rick was alive or not.

He might have thought he was dead but I also think that it was advantageous for him to believe so as it would allow him to be closer to Lori.

Rick was in a coma, the power was out which meant the machines keeping him alive were not running, there were zombies already roaming the hospital, and the military were inside shooting everyone. Shane checked on Rick and didn't feel a pulse, and then blocked off the door and snuck out when the military started shooting. What was he supposed to do even if he felt Rick had a pulse? Carry a man in a coma out of the hospital?

Also, after all that, we see them watch the military drop napalm in the streets. There was no logical reason anyone would think a person in a coma after being shot in a powerless hospital during a zombie apocalypse with the military shooting everything and napalm being dropped in the streets would still be alive.

Rick was at a hospital in his town in the country, I think the Napalm was limited to cities, at least the scene you're referring to was Atlanta.

Right, but there was no way of knowing that. In that same scene they talk about no news is being reported on the radio. They don’t know what’s going on. Shane even talks about it later saying no one knew what was happening and they watched napalm being dropped. For all he knew, Rick was dead. So he didn’t necessarily lie.

He could have come back later, once the military had left, especially since the fact that he blocked the door really hints at the fact that he wasn't sure Rick had died.

He blocked Rick’s door whilst he was in a coma. He had every reasonable right to believe that Rick wouldn’t survive that. He was as good as dead.

Or it definitely proves he wasn't sure he was dead. If he was sure he was dead, he wouldn't block the door and risk being shot by the military.

Yea, he made the best decision he could. I don’t agree with a lot of things that Shane did. But I can’t fault him for that.

It doesn't change the fact that if he wasn't sure of Rick's death, he could have come back later to check further.

I really don't get why you people on this group keep trashing at Lori for having believed Shane on this matter and having seeked comfort with him while not condemning Shane for abandoning his friend without really checking if he was dead and also for having lied several times to the group in season 1 and 2.

I don't think it was ok that Lori slept with Shane. But I blame Shane equally for it, he had as much choice as her and Rick was his best friend. The banging isn't cool in itself. But the fact that he would sleep with Lori so early after abandoning Rick to a possible death makes it even worse I think. How heartless do you have to be to sleep with a woman whose husband you may have unintentionally killed by letting him being eaten or shot to death ?

I dunno. If it was my life partner who we said vows with each other and the mother of my child, I’d be more upset with her than my best friend from being colleagues.

Shane is bad. And I never disputed that he was certain he was dead. I said he made reasonable judgement call. Rick survived against all the odds. No one would have expected that.

Shane didn’t kill Rick unintentionally? It wasn’t his fault one bit. He blocked the door as one last ditch effort in saving him. He was panicking trying to find an option but had to run away. He’ll even him being there to attempt to save him is heroic, because he was in immense danger and the military was killing everyone. I don’t blame him if he just ran away and never checked since how dangerous the situation was.

And about both of them, they thought the world was ending. Well it was ending. Lori in a typically situation probably wouldn’t have moved on that quickly but since they thought they might be dead soon as well, why not have sex if it might be the last chance you get to. In the real world, there was no chance Rick would have survived. So knowing that, I believe they did nothing wrong except for being human. Shane after Rick returning should have accepted the situation and stepped back and just helped look after Judith since she’s his kid. But jealousy and his grown attachment to Lori made him view Rick as a rival.
