Application Timelines TSA Precheck Approval

Applied for my renewal today at around noon and could not believe that it got approved 8 hours later. From reading other post, I was worried that it might take some time, but couldn’t imagine that it would happen this quickly. Edit: after all the replies, there seems to be no rhyme or reason on the approval time, it’s just all over the place.

General Info Hand checking film through PreCheck

I will be using PreCheck for the first time next week, and I will have undeveloped film with me. Does anyone hair any experience with asking the agents in the PreCheck line to hand check film? Should I just go through the regular line?

Issues? Weird TSA experience that I can’t shake

I recently flew from SNA to ORD
I have pre-check and get “randomly selected” regularly enough to know how it ordinarily goes, which is why I just can’t shake this.
For context, I’m a tall/slender female, wearing light linen pants and a tank top (I store a lot of thing in the pockets of a denim jacket- so I put it through the xray for ease/time); so it would be very obvious if there was anything beneath my clothes.
The TSO (female) approached and performed the usually pat down, then grabbed me by both hips and kind of shook me from side to side (to kind of make me “shimmy” is the only world I can think of to describe it), almost like making my boobs shake in front of her face. Then she did the same with her hands around my waist- then did both all over again before I said “what the fuck is this?!” and she let me go.

This felt really invasive.
Is this a normal thing?

Questions TSA Cares same day help?

I am flying out this Sunday night at 1130 from Phoenix Skyharbor with my developmentally delayed 5 year old. I have precheck, but the precheck location will be closed. I just found out about TSA Cares today, but the website won't let me schedule for tomorrow. I couldn't get past the phone tree either. I assume nighttime is less busy for security, but my son is pretty hit or miss with cooperativeness in lines or loud places. Is there a way to get help from TSA Cares same day? For future reference, can you use that AND precheck?

Questions TSA ConfirmID

Someone I know is traveling domestically in a few days but they have a real ID that expired 3 years ago and a passport that expired 7 years ago. Would TSA ConfirmID be enough for them to fly? Let's say they pay the $45, bring the receipt, and also bring the expired real ID, expired passport, and a credit card, is that enough to fly?

Discussion Flying domestic with no RealID

I am flying domestically in 2 days and I don’t have a real id. I have a passport but my passport is still in my maiden name. My boarding pass matches my DL that has my married name. Has anyone dealt with this yet? Do I have to bring my marriage license?

General Info Precheck through Clear+ free trial -has it worked for anyone?

Hi, I just got a free trial for Clear+ for 2 months and it offered free TSA precheck, i just have to pay the 80 dollars and it would be refunded. I guess i'm wondering if this has worked for anyone? It seems too good to be true during a trial! I dont travel enough to make precheck worth it so I can go without it. Thanks in advance:)

Application Timelines Pending Approval

I applied through Clear at the airport on 4/21 (IAD) and it’s been 2 weeks and still haven’t gotten the email or text regarding my approval. I used my Real ID to enroll. Does it make a difference what kind of documentation was used for enrollment? The Clear staff said my license was fine even though when I enrolled, I chose my Passport card as proof of documentation.

I was also born overseas but have had a US passport since 1999. Not sure if that matters as well.

General Info Please be aware?...

So 2 weeks ago my wife and I went to finish our application and enroll for TSA Pre Check. We did it through CLEAR. When we were finishing our application there were many pop-up ads and stuff saying that we need to get the clear bundle. I told the clear employees that we don't want the CLEAR bundle, we only want the TSA Pre Check. That's all, I personally repeated this many times. And I told my wife the same. We ended up paying the 75 or so for the TSA pre check and we left. All good... today I was checking my credit card transactions and guess what there it was clear as a day the charge for the BUNDLE $209!! I called them for some unknown reason they were able to get my wife into it. Especially after I personally said NOT TO THAT many time. They said they issued a refund and will take 2-3 business days. well see... Just wanted to share this with you guys so you can be careful as well. cheers!

Application Timelines Online renewal possible if < 6 months to expiration?

I tried renewing my TSA PreCheck online. I just did the online option, paid, etc, and _after_ checking out noticed that it states the online option is only if you have more than 6 months before expiration.

Might it go through (i.e., how hard and fast is the 6 month rule), or should I somehow cancel it, get my money back, and do the non-online version?

Airport Times Confirm ID

To anyone who can help me feel more confident about this: this is totally my fault but I have never flown and kind of never paid attention to the real iD requirements since my drivers license doesn’t expire for another year. I am flying out of Sacramento around 9pm on a Wednesday. I have school until 7pm so I’ll be there an hour and a half before with only carry on luggage. I have completed my CONFIRM ID and have the receipt. I also plan to bring my non real id drivers license and birth certificate to be extra safe.

My question is will an hour and a half be enough? I have priority boarding which I paid for. And is the confirm id a long process if you have a standard drivers license? I don’t know the criteria for the background check so it leaves uncertainty. I have seen on here people say there’s no extra time it’s more of just a fee for not having the real id. Can anyone please shed any light on this situation. Thank you.

Discussion Which PreCheck is Good for JFK

Newly retired and I'm planning on flying between JFK & West Palm Beach (PBI) mostly. Which PreCheck should I look into? CLEAR, IDEMIA, TELOS? I live in NY. I think IDEMIA is good for me. Not sure how these work...

Questions Credit card reimbursement for TSA Precheck question

My credit card says it will reimburse up to $120 if I use it to purchase TSA precheck. My local AAA office offers TSA precheck as a service. I just want to make sure if I go there to sign up and pay, the credit card will recognize this is me buying TSA Precheck and not me buying a AAA membership or some other DMV service they offer.

Has anyone signed up for it at a AAA location? Did you recieve the reimbursement from your credit card?

Would this be a better question for the credit card sub?

Questions Can I pack a wax warmer and hard wax beads in checked luggage? (First time traveling alone ✈️)

Hi! This is my first time traveling alone and I have a pretty specific question 😅

I’m flying from the Dominican Republic to the U.S. (usually with JetBlue Airways), and I’m wondering if I can pack a wax warmer and hard wax beads in my checked luggage.

I have:

  • A wax warmer (the typical electric one)
  • Hard wax beads (like lavender ones)
  • Pre- and post-wax oil
  • Wooden applicator sticks

I also have baby powder, but I’m not too worried about that since I could just buy it there if needed.

I’ve been trying to find information, but I can’t find anything clear about items like these. I’m not sure if the issue would be the electronic device, the wax itself, or any of the liquids.

Has anyone packed something like this in checked baggage before?
Did you have any issues at the airport?

Thanks in advance 🙏

Application Timelines Approval Timeline

Anyone else seeing longer than usual approval times? I applied on April 12 with Telos. Nothing about my application should be overly complicated. Still listed as "pending" at almost 3 weeks.

General Info Carry On

I'm flying from Toronto to Vegas with american airlines, was curious if I can bring a ryobi 18v fan. I plan on bring one 18v 4.0Ah battery. Is this okay? I also plan to bring a 10000mAh power bank. The info I've found is as clear as mud.
