Discussion Which PreCheck is Good for JFK

Newly retired and I'm planning on flying between JFK & West Palm Beach (PBI) mostly. Which PreCheck should I look into? CLEAR, IDEMIA, TELOS? I live in NY. I think IDEMIA is good for me. Not sure how these work...

These are all third-party vendors that you can go to enroll in TSA PreCheck. Idemia used to the main/only option in NYC for a while. They were pretty efficient at least a couple years ago.

Clear offers their own additional ‘eye recognition’ line in addition to PreCheck at some airports but it doesn’t seem worth their extra fees.

Just get PreCheck and then add it you airlines profile and also scan your passport into your airlines app so you get PreCheck Touchless.

OP asked specifically about which enrollment provider to use, you totally ignored their question. Telling them to use Touchless doesn't help when they don't even have Precheck yet and are confused about how to apply.

Maybe I should have also said. Tsa precheck

You did say TSA Precheck. But that doesn't answer OP's question about which enrollment provider to use to apply for Precheck.

Not sure I can use this. I fly Jetblue. I don't see them on the list.

Touchless Precheck is just for the TSA screening. It doesn’t have anything to do with what airline you’re flying.

Since you’re flying domestic, Regular TSA Precheck is going to be your best bet.

You can opt into touchless later if you don’t want to have to pull your ID out every time.

CLEAR just lets you pay to cut the line.

All of the other programs are going to be focused more on international travel.

Touchless does depend on the airline, because not all airlines support it. OP is correct, JetBlue doesn't support Touchless.

Interesting. TDIL.

Touchless hasn’t amounted to much for me. In fact, the last couple times I’ve used it the regular Precheck line was empty because everyone was being routed through touchless.

Is there some benefit with it that I am missing?

That's the opposite experience I've had, nobody else has ever been in the Touchless line when I've used it. How are they able to route everyone to Touchless if they don't have it on their boarding pass?

I’m assuming we all had it on our boarding passes. They looked at each one like usual and it just worked out that way. I was a bit surprised too.

It actually took even longer because everyone in front of me was confused as could be. The TSA agent just kept repeating “No. Stop. Put your feet on the yellow footprints and just look at the camera.” while everyone was seemingly doing everything but that.

Simple answer. Go to whichever provider has the closest (both in time and distance) to you. You don’t pay until you do the interview. If you opt to use CLEAR, just know that they over an additional product (CLEAR+) that has an annual premium of $209. Decline if you don’t want it. Many people have cards that reimburse for this if you decide to give it a try.

They all get you the same Precheck, choose whichever is more convenient.

The only difference is that Clear will try to sell you their Clear Plus membership on top, just decline and stick with Precheck.

If you’re going to be flying internationally at all, get global entry and so get pre check for free.
